Not sure if he missed it out, but I'd be interested to see if you either have more than 4 rounds in a game or if you now start with more than 4 gifts in your hand at the start of every round. Without those rule changes, based on Rahdo's preview, I'm quite concerned that this might become too much for those who enjoy the tight gameplay of the base game. Without the expansions this game already has plenty of choices from game to game. I have played plenty of Gugong games where 3 out of 7 areas were hardly or never touched, just by the way the board is initialy set up. It simply looks like one of those expansions in which you just get stuff and the players have to decide if it's worth playing with.
I obviously have yet to play it and I might change my mind about it, but this is definitely an expansion for those that have played the game 20 times as Rahdo says, otherwise I bet 90% of the time people are just going to play with the base game because it's just easier, it's how I feel about my Carcassonne expansions.
you still start with the same hand size as normal, but there are several additional cards in the draw deck (depending on which modules you add). and the game still lasts 4 rounds, regardless of which modules you choose
I wish I had 125 spare bucks to back this :/ I love Chinese themed games but If I can find a used copy of Gugong for 25-30$ I can't justify 125. THey announced a retail version of the expansion will be released later [the kickstarter is only for the deluxe version]

With the take that cards - couldn't you just leave those in the box and add the rest of that module? Or would that mess with game balance somehow?
One concern I have with the peasants' revolt is that it sounds like may sometimes not have a decision to make at all (if you only have one card discarded and no +2/-2 token). Did that not bother you? Also, in the KS page it says you reveal the peasants' strength first and then choose cards, but you say the opposite order. Which is it?
it would probably be fine i suppose to leave some in the box. and yes, you do reveal the pesants first, i just misspoke :)
and yes, there's definitely times when you don't have a choice, but that's part of the feature, as it's possible this happened because your opponent timed it that way :)

This is the kind of expansion to me that seems like a fix. ie, it all should have been there in the original game.

I honestly don't see how this is a 50$ expansion. The modules seem nice but not necessary at all and why would you even need an insert for an expansion. I will wait for the retail and get it for much much cheaper as I did with base game (Paid 30$).

@@Slyfox1775 Honestly, I'm a huge fan of my deluxe edition of Gugong and I love Steding games.
I was excited when I saw the video title in my feed but upon watching, the gameplay just looks like it would fall flat at the table (especially the take that mechanics on the new cards / travelling locations)
