Spot! She’s without a doubt the best kid singer right now. But honestly she’s just one of the best singers today no matter the age. She’s got more vocal style than anybody singing right now. What’s crazy is that she’s only going to get better.
She is the best of the kid singers, but THE best I would not agree. She does not quite have the expression an adult singer has. She is better than a lot of pop singers, if you mean that.

Meine Postma well I said one of the better singers today...not the best. But she’s got enough uniqueness in her voice and tone that you can’t really teach. She will hone her craft and with more life experience pour a ton of emotion into every song eventually. But very few have the innate gifts she has period....no matter the age.

When it comes to Angelina you should take age out of the equation. She is a true artist - with a free and creative mind - who do things in her own way. Many expect to hear a copy of the original and somehow get dissapointed. They haven't got the concept of a free mind. It's like someone only like a painting when it look as a photo of a landscape ..... while others prefers paintings that give the viewer freedom to interpret what the painter has done. ....... and Angelina is a true master painter - with a free mind.

Angelina is never off tempo. When she seems to be, it is because she wants to be. It is her artistic choice, her intention, her own way of interpreting a song & making it her own. But Whitney? That's really a very clever observation. 😂
@@karolyn8644 I agree. It is a positive side effect of her jazz roots, which give musicians lots of room stylistically for improvisation. Her leading, or lagging the melody is surely intentional and meant to help draw out the sentiment of the passage she is singing.
@@Zionsol777 Thanks, Todd. I love when people get it. She has another thing she learned from the greatest traditional jazz singers of days gone by. That is the technique of hitting a note just slightly flat, then sliding it up to the correct pitch. People sometimes complain that she is flat, but she's not really. It's just another choice she makes deliberately to add color to a song.

Loved your honest review and what to say of your little girl!!! I think she was hooked to Angelina's singing as well hahahaha. I think you're spot on about your comments. Maybe because English isn't her first language she sometimes misses the tempo like a milisecond.
That doesn't detract from her amazing voice, and specially her understanding, intelligence, her taste, and class while interpeting such a huge song. Also, I think (and I'm a huge fan of her) she was at the top of her upper range.
No female singer has the ability to duplicate her vocals. She can do Wicked games and Its a mans world one after another and people would believe they were done by two different singers.
...and nobody would believe either of the two different singers was 12 ;)

I've listened to a lot of singers.., both mainstream and indie.. some kids and adults. Angelina's overall musicality is perhaps the best I've seen. Not a jazz or old songs fanatic before..but she draws me in..and there's no escaping. Well, I don't want to escape either. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here. She's a phenomenon that only comes once in a generation or two. And we're all lucky we have recieved such a gift like her in our lifetime.

Hi there. Great reaction and totally agree with you. Angelina is probably one of the best young female singer in the music panorama now. For sure she is the best for soul, jazz and r&b. Listening her singing is like a journey through the music. And i love the fact that she is trying to experiment almost everything. Her last release, "above the water", is the perfect example. An electronic pop song, can you believe it? Yet is great too. Her capabilities are insane. Please keep going with Angelina. Cheers and stay safe

I agree with your analysis of Angelina's singing ability 110%. I discovered her a few years ago and have been absolutely blown away by the talent of this youngster. I'm an older woman and sooo looking forward to the next 20+ years (fate willing), of following her career. It will easily be a highlight in my final years. Her singing is magical, from another dimension. I loved Whitney Houston. Her passing was devastating, tragic, and the loss of the best voice I'd ever heard IMO. Angelina seems to be channeling every great voice and then some. I'm simply awed by her talent.

This is probably not one of the songs more suitable for Angelina now, but I am convinced that with growing and maturing the voice will be able to sing it without any problem and probably with more afflatus. However, it is a stratospheric interpretation in general, even for an adult, impossible for any 12-year-old girl, but as you rightly say it is not only the voice that differentiates it, it is all ... control, power in a wide range of octaves, the musical intelligence and that particular gift with which she manages to involve you and capture you in her musical plot.
Each time it is a pleasure to see you and listen to you, the next one with anxiety 😅😅

I heard, but do not know for sure, that her critics were saying she is too one dimensional and could not do something like this, so, she did this. Angelina is the voice/arranger, Grace the writer/creator/producer, and Courtney the entertainer. All three are amazing.

@@RustyShacklefordChannel yeah I saw it before. I like it. used to listen to lots of electronic dance music back in the days. anyway, when I said 'dance' I meant her dancing. and I actually prefer her not doing it. she is one unique individual. don't have to follow the conventional.
@@lilsun724 ahh, that makes more sense now. Yes, I agree. Some artists are better because they use the stage and dance around while singing. For those artists, it is an important part of their overall performance. However, Angelina not only doesn't need anything like that to improve her performance... I think it would only work against her. Part of what makes her so special is that she can just stand there and deliver a vocal so beautifully that you are locked in and hanging on every word. That is such a hard thing to do.
Angelina AND Charlotte in the same video! What could be better? As you can see here Angelina likes to set difficult challenges for herself. I mean, she took on Freddie's "the show must go on" shortly before this one. No small feat.... and of course she nailed that one too. You are not the first to mention the timing on this one, but there are a couple things going on here... one, with her strong jazz background, she will sometimes slightly backphrase, or sing ahead of the beat... I think this is 100% intentional on her part. The other thing is that she added a word in there in one part that throws some people off. Whitney said, "I won't hold it back..." . Angelina says, "I don't want to hold it back..." not sure of the reasoning behind that but some people are so familiar with the original that they hear that part as a mis-timing. ...and you are right, there are many great young singers right now... none even close to Angelina Jordan.
Side story: A few weeks after this, Angelina can be seen singing this song in a rehearsal for a charity event with David Foster (the guy that wrote the song) playing keyboards for her.
Damn, you're right that Whitney sings "I won't hold it back…". I've been saying she sang, "Don't want to hold it back…" (just missing the initial "I"). I hate getting things like that wrong…
BTW, I just listened to Angelina's and Whitney's versions synced up with each other, for I think the 3rd time. If you've never done that (anyone reading this), you really should. It's a trip…
