Angelina went from belting out Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” to immersing herself in jazz at five-years-old. At eight-years-old, she won Norway’s Got Talent with a viral rendition of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but she already possessed a clear picture of what her path would be.
Taking her time, she opted to carefully hone her voice through countless hours of practice, gigs, and writing.
“It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.”
She got “ready” through a series of historic performances. She graced the stage of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and delivered an emotionally charged rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” A year later, she wowed an audience at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm. Touching down in Seoul during 2017, she joined a powerhouse bill alongside PSY and Norah Jones in front of 40,000 people at Muse In City Festival. Quincy Jones personally invited her to perform at his 85th birthday at London’s O2 Arena.
Every time she took the stage, she was notably barefoot, which remains one of her signatures thus far.
“A long time ago, I was traveling with my family, and I met a young homeless girl with no shoes,” she recalls. “She was barefoot, so I gave her my shoes because I really wanted to help her. Today, I sing barefoot as a reminder of all the kids in the world who need help and support.”
Along the way, GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] reached out, and they initiated a fervent creative partnership together. She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020.
Now, she formally introduces herself on the single “Million Miles.” With lyrics exclusively penned by Angelina, her robust delivery sails over sparse piano on the verses as the track builds towards a sweeping refrain, “We’re a million miles apart. It’s pulling my heart."
“Million Miles” is about losing someone you really love,” she explains. “This song is very personal to me, because I had never felt the feeling of losing someone before I wrote this.”

There is something completely unique about her voice it is just beyond this world ...
One day you will come to grips with the fact it is just silly to think Angelina will not be able to handle anything she chooses to sing, over 130 covers by over 60 different artists.... there is no “ she usually sings a certain genera” if you have only heard half a dozen covers, at 10 to 13 years old having the ability to stand toe to toe with great seasoned artists is otherworldly. I think you are discovering how wonderfully versatile she is, I like your reactions and see your faith in Angelina solidified.
In my opinion, Angelina is by far one of the best singers in the world. I would buy tickets to see her any day. We are going to see a new super star over this next decade.
Angelina stopped being a child singer when she was 10 years old, before that she was an incredibly talented child prodigy, now she is one of the most versatile female vocalists on the planet and on a upward trajectory.

There is a song with the music written for Angela Jordan by a composer Nico Cartosio. It is called “A song for A” Nico Cartosio. He has it on his album and it is the only song on it the rest is instrumental. The song is taken from a poem written in the 1700’s by Robert Burns. It is truly one of the most unique songs that Angelina has sung to date. It is haunting and so beautiful. I think that you would be blown away if you listened to it. To me this proves, beyond a shadow of any doubt, that this 14 yr. girl that only has, maybe 50% of capacity of the voice that she will have as an adult, is blowing my mind away. I am the same age as your mother and I only hope that I will be around long enough to see her her come into her full fruition..... BTW. I love you and your reactions. You truly get this gem and I love experiencing your reactions with each and every new song that you hear!

Love your reaction Maunalee, I totally feel the same. No need for dances, theatrics, make-up, eye-contact, nothing... just pure food for the soul in the form of a voice.
When Angelina sings, the listener is connected to Angelina who is expressing and putting into words how the listener feels, and only wishes he/she could say so beautifully.
How does a 12-13 year old manage to sing a song like this,like that?!! Her ability to capture the essence of a song then make us believe her is beyond words. So my fall-back is and has always been to cry. And now I can't even type what I am feeling from this performance. I sometimes go to the original right after listening to Angelina just to see what makes this one so special. I have just come back from watching LDR sing this song. It is good, it is very good. How do I put this, Angelina captivates your mind and soul the minute she starts singing. I've often said it's like a Vulcan mind-meld kind of thing. You are caught in her current of the song. You are on it until she gently drops back on your own footing, she says good-bye and you are left feeling the effects of the ride for the next 10-20 minutes. If that doesn't help gather up the loose ends, then I'm sorry,it's the best I got for an explanation. Thanks for your reaction. You see everybody finds their own level. Part of who she is, is that quiet confidence, that inner peace that seems to coat every performance. That voice is enough and we hang on every syllable. Until the next time.
At one time someone I grew up with in the 60's posted he grew his voice by doing covers. I think Angelina has done this.
Thanks for another excellent reaction to Angelina. For goodness sake! Where are the musicians? I didn't see the scantily clad dancers, either. Every singers needs support or they cannot perform in a way to entrance you,. That's right, isn't it? My mind tells me that it is absolutely impossible for anyone, yet alone one as young to manipulate their voice to introduce so many "colours" in one song. And, of course, it is most certainly impossible for a child who by the mere fact that she is young, to have sufficient life experience to know about emotions, yet alone be able to communicate those of a song to anyone listening. Yes, all of these things are impossible for for anyone other than the "Chameleon of song". I haven't done many memorable things in my life, but the day I clicked on a website which took me to Angelina's first audition on Norway's Got Talent is, without doubt. the best things I have ever done.

WOOO! I was on the edge of my recliner for this one. I love her Lana Del Ray and I too like Lana Del Ray. Lana is so dark and angelic all at the same time. I love how Angie rolls and plays with her vows and it is done purposefully, it changes from song to song. She draws you in with her beautiful tone and you can't let go because you need to know what she is going to do next. Wonderfully addictive. She is only fourteen and getting better with every performance. Been listening to her for over a year now. Binged watched 90% of her TH-cam content when I first discovered her. Never ever have I thought, OK that's enough of Angelina Jordan for today. Her voice is so soothing. Everyday I have to look to see if there is something new from her, and I'm not even a huge jazz or pop fan.

I wanted to say the same thing, Jim Frederick said, I loved her Born to Die cover of Lana.
One thing I think is so amazing is not just her singing ability, there are other things also, like her ability to hear the original artist like Billy Holiday, she makes the song her own while still keeping certain sounds she hears from the original artist alive in her. I saw her in one video reading lyrics at the age of 5, I don't remember even reading at the age of 5 much less in a second language. Speaking of language, she speaks Norwegian, English, Iranian, and Japanise, I have even heard a video where she is singing in Japanise, her grandfather was Japanise. She is also the youngest person in Norway to publish a book, just wow. But her ability to hear the sounds and mostly the smallest sound that someone else might overlook, If you listen to Billy Holiday you will see all the sounds she has absorbed from her.
Lynette, I totally agree about Angelina's ability to hear sounds that most of us can't. I read in a translated newspaper article, that when she sang that song in Japan, in Japanese, the native speakers were amazed that she didn't have an accent. That tells volumes about her hearing & producing sounds.

I am one of those who binge on Lana for a week, and then don't listen to her again for 6 months. (Maybe it is the manipulative aspect that intices and repels) I discovered Angelina a week ago and am dazzled. You are right about the comfort factor. I would not have used that word, but I get it. One feels like one is sharing her journey, like you do with your own children. Also she is not (I hope) being directed by a corporation. She is a bit under the radar, which is refreshing.

Another great reaction. This is one of my favorite cover along with “Born to Die”. Angelina has a way of maintaining the essence of the original song but then adding more nuance that only she can do. You are not wrong, this cover is better.
Angelina is a girl, but when she sings she is another completely different person, a soul from another time, endowed with extraordinary talent!

So glad you did this one! She also does "Born to Die" (which is the more requested one), but I think I actually I prefer this one. I have been a Lana fan for years, and nobody can cover Lana like Angelina can cover Lana. It still blows me away that this is just a 12 year old recording in her room. And you are so right, she doesn't need to do anything but stand there and sing, and you are glued to her every word. So you have now heard her nail Adele and nail Lana.... now you have to hear her do Amy. Nobody does Amy like Angelina.

As others have pointed out, "Born to Die" is a very popular Lana cover of Angelina's. th-cam.com/video/DNU-HcLuO_I/w-d-xo.html (approaching one million views). It was one of the first videos she did with new audio equipment, and her voice sounds… well, literally unbelievable. A lot of people who aren't already familiar with her singing have a hard time believing it's actually her voice. (I mean, to a different degree than in her other covers.)
I still don't know for sure whether it's a single, unedited audio take or whether it was pieced together from multiple takes, because her mouth is obscured behind a windscreen (or whatever it's called) the whole time. (I still think it's the former, based on several different considerations, but the performance is just *so* good it's hard to believe that.) Either way, it's one of her finest vocals, in terms of pure sound quality alone. (And artistically, not surprisingly, I think she does it better than Lana.)

Perhaps one of the most intriguing things about Angelina is that she does not require anything but her voice to draw us in. No show, glitz or glamour. No dancing clowns, juggling dogs or even fancy stage. A microphone to bring out the soul of the music and remind us of our own.

Happy to see you really seeing just how unusual and special Angelina is, it was just a matter of time.Time and again I have heard people state their concern weather Angelina is up to the task of taking on whatever song she has chosen, when you have listened to enough of her covers it will change to being totally surprised that anybody would have that doubt. She is as good or better than most artists she covers but I would be surprised if she has trouble covering anything.

Many of us feel exactly as you do Maunalee :) Angelina's voice and her calm yet passionate way of singing just grabs you. Angelina herself said she didn't feel like a 13 year old at the time. Mostly when she sings. In her everyday life from what I've seen she just a regular teenager. Did you ever listen to her version of "Valerie" from Amy? It's just so good and yet so adorable with her little sister dancing, prancing around her, lol

I watch reaction channels because I look for folks genuinely discovering new music and authentically appreciating the good stuff - I delight to see others being moved by the thrill of gorgeous music. And speaking of "gorgeous", it doesn't hurt at all that you're so good-looking . . . and your mom - wow. I grew-up in the 60s, when music changed so much and set the course we are still on . . . it was an explosion of Motown, Rock, Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, British Invasion, and more.
Let me guide you to this; everyone knows Eric Clapton, but few realize he must be counted along with Benny Goodman, Bing Crosby, Elvis, James Brown, Dylan, and The Beatles in this regard - everything changed after Clapton, there is music before Clapton and music after Clapton and the music after Clapton is different because of Clapton. The trouble is, everyone thinks of (and suggests & reacts to) stuff like 'Wonderful Tonight' & 'Tears In Heaven', which are fine enough, but not at all representative of his musical contribution or his artistry. Listen/react to this one suggestion, I am confident it will move you and you will be willing to let me suggest others for you (stuff no else reacts to but is glorious, stuff from Savoy Brown, Cactus, Flock, as well as the right things from more familiar artists). I lived through the development of American Blues-based popular music, and I am discriminating in what I appreciate (like Angelina Jordan is just about magic). With Angelina its not just about her voice..when she closes her eyes she goes to that other place and becomes the song. Combine that with her natural talents and it has to be amazing. I like your honesty in these reactions.

She is getting a lot of attention for a reason, and she deserves it. I love everything she does. She is a Capricorn, the same as myself. I wish I was as young as she is though, lol! I read one time that Capricorns are born adults. When I learned what her birth sign was, my thought were how mature she seems for her age. (I don't typically read any horoscopes - just mine, for fun.) I used to love to sing also but was born into the wrong family for that to advance at all. Bottom line, our Angelina is a very gifted little girl. She will go far.

In my opinion, any singer that depends on their talent rather than on their ability to perform are the real artists. I much prefer to listen and watch someone that can captivate me with their voice over someone that has to dance about or do whatever to entertain me. Adele is a very good example. Her show involves her standing at the mic singing. She doesn't dance about, have tons of backup singers and dancers, pyrotechnics, or wear provocative outfits to entertain her audience. She just uses her voice and that's plenty good enough. No theatrics needed. That's my best explanation of how I feel about Angelina. All she has to do is step in front of the mic and do what she does. This is not one of my favorites of her covers and yet I still love it.
