Considering you're comparing a teenager to a superstar in her prime, 9.8 is pretty impressive. Also considering belting out lyrics is not something Angelina often does and that her true skills lie elsewhere, I was very impressed by her here.
This was recorded the same day after she sang Elvis," "Suspicious Minds!" Rob Christie, head of Studio Productions for Republic, accompanied Angelina on the piano on that cover. Two amazing covers in the same day. Angelina is the greatest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with her combination of talents. Our Princess of a thousand voices, the Queen of Jazz. She is a gift to us all.
When you compare any of her covers to originals, I always think Angelina is a good 20yrs younger than most every artist she coveres and still blowes you away! Her voice puts more emotion into the songs. She is at such an early age, is right up there with them!
She did it LIVE in Norway, for TV , and due to a potential (non) sound recording issue, they had her sing it again, a minute later... i saw her live in New Hampshire do it at end of a 2 hr cincert. NOW, I HAVE YET TO SEE WHITNEY DO NEAR THIS WELL, IN a one-take, original pace performance, like this... no long(rest) pauses... Whitney never did !!
There is something in the tone of Angelinas voice that makes this more pleasent to listen to than any other version I have heard. A very subjective view.. LOL 😊 Nice to see you back..😊😊

Whitney Houston is an artist I have listened to a lot, especially during the beginning of her career in the 80s. I have many of her records, but this particular song has never been one of my favorites. I haven't disliked it but it hasn't really meant anything to me at all. I wasn't too impressed with Angelina's first attempt with this song either, but for some reason this version became an instant favorite of mine. I can't explain why but I feel every word and get emotional in a way I've never experienced with any other version of this song by any artist. There's just something about Angelina's voice and way of singing that often suits me perfectly.
Great honest reaction ! I appreciate your kind of thoughts about Whitney and Angelina and the comparison, which is only natural. You have to realize that Angelina pays homage to Whitney Houston every time she sings because this is one of her most favorite singers and most influential in her life since she was a baby. In fact, there's a recording of Angelina at one and a half years old singing a Whitney Houston song, so that should tell it all. I think one of the more important things to remember. Angelina made the song her own in her own tone and her own key which is a little bit different than the original but Angelina did great justice to this wonderful song and it's one of her finest performances. I feel even though it was in a studio. I think Angelina's live version when she was in Norway. The same year in 2022 was just as fabulous and even better because it was live. I think importantly we should realize Angela is on the way up. She was only 16 years old at the time of this recording and you must remember Whitney was 29 years old. Whenever she recorded that song age difference means a little bit but in Angelina's case. she was always an old soul with a mature voice. I really liked how you approached your honest reaction and summation of the whole song. It is so much appreciated to have you back in the TH-cam community. As for as this rendition of this song, it is perfect for Angelina. If Angelina sang this song originally without anyone else ever doing it, it would be considered a masterpiece the same way it is considered now when Whitney did it. At this point in Angelina's young career at only 18 years old, she is on the level of all the ladies that you named. Because she is the absolute vocal virtuoso that she is, she's going to go higher, and further than many of the rest. As she has, and is developing, she will be the most rounded, and the most versatile of any singer in the last century. And as genres go, they say that it is hard to be great at everything, but Angelina will be the closest one to being able to do so. You don't fully appreciate the gifts of AJ. Whitney was, and remains, an all time great vocalist. Angelina is an evolutionary leap. Comparisons are pointless.
I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 17 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. AJ changes every cover to make it hers and far, far better than the original. AJ is the greatest STORYTELLING ARTEST I have ever experienced in my 76 years.

However, as an educator, I find your “grades/scores” give the appearance of an objective measurement. In reality, you are measuring, imho, your own “subjective” feelings/opinions”. The other good news is that it is a decade until the pipes of AJ mature. Regarding AJ covers, she usually (not always) is really good at keeping the "intention" of the original intact. Doing Billie Jean, she is not really keeping the style or sound, but I think MJ would have approved regarding the intention (or skeleton?) being intact And yes, I think you gave points? Were you not fumbling around with that 8-ball? Or was that a prediction thing you had going? This was for me the song where Angelina's- true-genius- for interpretation smacked me right in the face. I know of no other singer who can go into the stratosphere to sing where Whitney did...........and then go to the lowest continuous register possible like Angelina did when she sang the song 'How Great Thou Art'. In fact, she holds that low register far longer than Elvis did when he performed the song in the same key.

"Suspicious Minds" (Elvis cover) and "Unchained Melody" (Righteous Brothers cover) at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony are both good and her entire EP Old Enough doesn't have a bad track on it.

Her new ep plus is a great place to go . It just came out and is setting the tone for her direction. Some well crafted neosoul retro with fresh lofi and very current phrasing and rhythm all while keeping that voice front n center. Very well produced without it sounding too clean , flat from auto tune sound.

Test the Neem oil on a part of the plant several days before the whole plant. However, you may not want/need to spray the plant leaves, because the gnats are in the soil. (I sprayed for other pests, but not the gnats.) My gnats mostly disappeared on their own this winter.
You can also purchase a crushed pumice stone product and sprinkle it over the surface of the potting mix, as an effective nat barrier. The coarseness and sharpness of it, will stop them from laying their eggs and prevent them from starting the cycle all over again. It's all Angelina and it's what's to be expected from her in the future. It's funk, it's jazz, it's R+B and it's produced beautifully, not overdone. Every track is radio worthy and as a DJ I think you'll agree.
The finished product, her Debut album with 12 or more songs, (including her EP songs) was supposed to come out "In the fall of 2023" but here it is Jan 20 2024, and still no word as to the new drop date. Very strange indeed.

I don't see many people here pointing out that you reacted to Angelina's first cover of this same song back in 2019 (that's when AJ posted her cover, not when you reacted to it), singing in the same key as Whitney's original studio version (higher than here). You loved it at least as much as this one, and gave it the same score. So, you _did_ actually already know that someone other than Whitney could sing this song and you would like it, and that Angelina could hit the highest notes (and higher). You just didn't remember.🙂 I suspect there's going to be a lot you don't remember about how good she is. Even people who only go a couple of weeks between AJ reactions will say things like, "I always forget how good she sounds!" BTW, personally I prefer her live rendition of this song that she did on _Allsang på Grensen_ shortly before this music video was released (her first live appearance after "the lockdown"). It was posted to both the show's YT channel and Angelina's Official channel. She sang it twice for some reason (people say various things, but no one knows for sure why), and cell phone footage shot from the audience reveals that both takes were equally good in terms of her performance. In fact, they were so similar that when I checked the two takes from the cell phone video against what aired on the show (and was posted to her Official channel), at first I thought maybe they had used a mix of the two, because the first take syncs up so closely for so much of the song. But then I checked the second take, and it synced up perfectly throughout the entire song, so it's obvious that they only used the second take for the broadcast.

Start with "Hi Ren", i assure you that you've never heard or seen anything like it. Go into it cold, don't research him until afterwards.
I have listen to Whitney's singing this song on stage and she was really not so impressive like her performance in the movie. I was actually shocked in the way she was singing the song. I also listen to Whitney performing when she was younger and she was not near the same level as Angelina at this young age. You want to compare, then you must take in consideration the age when Whitney performed this song and the age when Angelina performed this song.
Speaking of Adele, if you check out Angelina's versions of Easy on Me and All I Ask, you will be hard pressed to decide which versions are better. For me it's Angelina's versions.

Considering you're comparing a teenager to a superstar in her prime, 9.8 is pretty impressive. Also considering belting out lyrics is not something Angelina often does and that her true skills lie elsewhere, I was very impressed by her here.

Two amazing covers in the same day. Angelina is the greatest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with her combination of talents. When you compare any of her covers to originals, I always think Angelina is a good 20yrs younger than most every artist she coveres and still blowes you away! Her voice puts more emotion into the songs. She is at such an early age, is right up there with them!

Whitney Houston is an artist I have listened to a lot, especially during the beginning of her career in the 80s. I have many of her records, but this particular song has never been one of my favorites. I haven't disliked it but it hasn't really meant anything to me at all. I wasn't too impressed with Angelina's first attempt with this song either, but for some reason this version became an instant favorite of mine. I can't explain why but I feel every word and get emotional in a way I've never experienced with any other version of this song by any artist. There's just something about Angelina's voice and way of singing that often suits me perfectly.

You have to realize that Angelina pays homage to Whitney Houston every time she sings because this is one of her most favorite singers and most influential in her life since she was a baby. In fact, there's a recording of Angelina at one and a half years old singing a Whitney Houston song, so that should tell it all. I think one of the more important things to remember. Angelina made the song her own in her own tone and her own key which is a little bit different than the original but Angelina did great justice to this wonderful song and it's one of her finest performances. I feel even though it was in a studio. I think Angelina's live version when she was in Norway. The same year in 2022 was just as fabulous and even better because it was live. I think importantly we should realize Angela is on the way up. She was only 16 years old at the time of this recording and you must remember Whitney was 29 years old. Whenever she recorded that song age difference means a little bit but in Angelina's case. she was always an old soul with a mature voice. I really liked how you approached your honest reaction and summation of the whole song. It is so much appreciated to have you back in the TH-cam community. As for as this rendition of this song, it is perfect for Angelina. If Angelina sang this song originally without anyone else ever doing it, it would be considered a masterpiece the same way it is considered now when Whitney did it. At this point in Angelina's young career at only 18 years old, she is on the level of all the ladies that you named. Because she is the absolute vocal virtuoso that she is, she's going to go higher, and further than many of the rest. As she has, and is developing, she will be the most rounded, and the most versatile of any singer in the last century. And as genres go, they say that it is hard to be great at everything, but Angelina will be the closest one to being able to do so. I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 17 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. AJ changes every cover to make it hers and far, far better than the original. AJ is the greatest STORYTELLING ARTEST I have ever experienced in my 76 years.

I think there are at least a couple of covers and a bunch of originals worth your time. "Suspicious Minds" (Elvis cover) and "Unchained Melody" (Righteous Brothers cover) at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony are both good and her entire EP Old Enough doesn't have a bad track on it.

One of the quote I remember from one of your first reactions was “that’s the voice I want when I grow up “ … understand you have an allegiance to Whitney Houston. Most of us do but please remember the kid was 16 years old when she performed this. You have a lot to catch up on? Her new ep plus is a great place to go . It just came out and is setting the tone for her direction. Some well crafted neosoul retro with fresh lofi and very current phrasing and rhythm all while keeping that voice front n center. Very well produced without it sounding too clean , flat from auto tune sound.

Test the Neem oil on a part of the plant several days before the whole plant. However, you may not want/need to spray the plant leaves, because the gnats are in the soil. (I sprayed for other pests, but not the gnats.) My gnats mostly disappeared on their own this winter.
You can also purchase a crushed pumice stone product and sprinkle it over the surface of the potting mix, as an effective nat barrier.

The finished product, her Debut album with 12 or more songs, (including her EP songs) was supposed to come out "In the fall of 2023" but here it is Jan 20 2024, and still no word as to the new drop date. Very strange indeed.

Your back Maunalee, I didn't recognize you without your bangs until I saw your tattoos! Miss you and your reaction looking forward to your show. Maunalee you have a lot of catching up with Angeline's current EP, however, before you listen to her new EP "Old Enough." Please react to Her vision of Elvis," "Suspicious Minds" relating to Priscilla Presley's emotional relationship with Elvis during his coming back in the '60s.
I don't see many people here pointing out that you reacted to Angelina's first cover of this same song back in 2019 (that's when AJ posted her cover, not when you reacted to it), singing in the same key as Whitney's original studio version (higher than here). You loved it at least as much as this one, and gave it the same score. So, you _did_ actually already know that someone other than Whitney could sing this song and you would like it, and that Angelina could hit the highest notes (and higher). You just didn't remember.🙂 I suspect there's going to be a lot you don't remember about how good she is. Even people who only go a couple of weeks between AJ reactions will say things like, "I always forget how good she sounds!"
BTW, personally I prefer her live rendition of this song that she did on _Allsang på Grensen_ shortly before this music video was released (her first live appearance after "the lockdown"). It was posted to both the show's YT channel and Angelina's Official channel. She sang it twice for some reason (people say various things, but no one knows for sure why), and cell phone footage shot from the audience reveals that both takes were equally good in terms of her performance. In fact, they were so similar that when I checked the two takes from the cell phone video against what aired on the show (and was posted to her Official channel), at first I thought maybe they had used a mix of the two, because the first take syncs up so closely for so much of the song. But then I checked the second take, and it synced up perfectly throughout the entire song, so it's obvious that they only used the second take for the broadcast.
Great to see you back here, Maunalee. I would love to see your reaction to Angelina's "Suspicious Minds" from a couple years ago. And, for you to explore a "new" and truly unique performer - Ren. Start with "Hi Ren", i assure you that you've never heard or seen anything like it. Go into it cold, don't research him until afterwards.
I have listen to Whitney's singing this song on stage and she was really not so impressive like her performance in the movie. I was actually shocked in the way she was singing the song. I also listen to Whitney performing when she was younger and she was not near the same level as Angelina at this young age. You want to compare, then you must take in consideration the age when Whitney performed this song and the age when Angelina performed this song.
Speaking of Adele, if you check out Angelina's versions of Easy on Me and All I Ask, you will be hard pressed to decide which versions are better. For me it's Angelina's versions.
