I used to bowl league in that alley when I was younger. That bowling alley was in Queens, NY. I don't know if it's still there? I moved out of Queens in 1990. Good times and a good movie!

Great cast of then unknown young actors. Surprised that a lot more of the movie's cast members didn't go on to have bigger careers. Also, a great soundtrack to accompany Phillip Kaufman's excellent adaptation of Richard Price's semi-autobiographical novel by the same title. I highly recommend seeing "The Wanderers" at least once while you're still alive, you won't be disappointed.

Probably the only 'recent' photo of Ken Wahl the poster could find. There's not many (if any) of Ken Wahl in later years, as the guy is now a total recluse. He retired from acting in 1996.
For me, this is and always will be the ultimate teen movie. At the time, there were a few others that came close, but this is the one. Thanks to cast and crew for making it. Dont F..k with the Wongs!

He taught Creatvie Writing in College based up The two books he wrote at the time- Blood Brothers and the WAnderes. He leftg onece he started becoming a big Novelist and Screen Writer. I read the Novel in the 1970's- I don't remember the Novel being about Civil Rights and Black People.

In the book it's "Sloop", one of the Baldies, and Turkey isn't even in the Wanderers. He's like a geeky outsider who's allowed to come to Wanderers parties. And Perry and Joey go to California when they leave the Bronx. In the book, they go to Boston and join the Merchant Marine. Those are some of the differences.
