What Does the Return of the Earthen Mean for the Dwarves of Azeroth?

- The most recent World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight, is now over with the latest patch - and that means we can turn our sights to the possibilities of The War Within. From what we know so far, there'll be a big Dwarven presence in the next expansion. A new city, some underground delving, and the return of the Earthen - the ancestors of the Dwarves we can play as part of the Alliance today.
But how did modern Dwarves come to be, completely changed from their rocky Earthen forms? Will they ever rediscover the powers of the earth that were originally given to them? Will another civil war break out between the clans now that they have another faction to contend with?
In this lore video, we'll take a dive into the history of the Dwarves of Azeroth. How they came to be, how they've evolved, and their journey from dedicated servants of the titan keepers to the stalwart soldiers of the Alliance they are today - so you'll hopefully be all caught up by the time The War Within arrives!

The idea of a dwarven civil war and dwarves riding griffins to battle sounds so cool to me I would love to see it on the big screen. And this whole video just reminds me why I love dwarves in any fictional world. They are awesome😅
Hopefully someday there will be movies and series based on all of the history of Warcraft!
Doesn't it? I think the Wildhammers might actually be my favourite of the Warcraft Dwarf clans purely because of that, the image of the gryphon army soaring through the skies and their stormhammers crackling with lightning is so epic. :D
@@MatthewTheWanderer That would be so awesome. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I thought the Warcraft movie wasn't terrible, and I would've loved to see more. We got a glimpse at Ironforge, but still!
Gnome and Dwarf lore is some of my favorite! I'm really hoping they both get a push in The War Within. Also, small correction, but Gnomeregan was built at the same time as Ironforge. Both races worked together to build the two capitals. When the Horde showed up, they couldn't breach either city because of the Dwarves' hardiness and the Gnomes' traps and weaponry, so they held both races hostage within their cities.
That's awesome, I hope they get a push next expansion too! Thanks so much for the correction as well - half of the reason for me making these videos is to research and fill in the gaps in my own knowledge, and there are a lot of those 😄 Also goes to show just what a dream team Dwarves and Gnomes are, ever since their creation. I'm excited that the Earthen will be able to join either faction. I've been wishing for Horde dwarves since the game began, and I guess this is as close as we're going to get! Lovely video.

You know i actualy like this video format. Its so cozy! Anyways, dwarves were always my fav since vanilla, and i honestly feel like blizz should have done more with them. I hope that they will update Ironforge soon.

Sargeras is not a demon, he's a titan. I'd be very surprised if the giant sword in Silithus ever gets removed, but who knows?
You're right, maybe I should've said 'titan with demonic tendencies' instead 😄 I wonder about the sword too, I know they've at least acknowledged that it's sticking out of Silithus like a huge sore thumb, but we'll see how that progresses!
The dwarves are fun to play, my favorite are hunters. The most logical is a conflict of ideology is coming and i love arqueológ great video
I love dwarves in almost every setting they are in and have a Dwarf and Dark Iron Dwarf who just cant wait to add an Earthen to the club :)

That's totally how I was pronouncing it! 😂 or at least I thought I was, I'll have to watch it if I need to say it again in the future. Dwarves do have their funny moments though, topped only by Gnomes.
"The famed hospitality of the dwarves." But for the lore of World of Warcraft, alas the dwarves have been delt a most harsh had by by natural and supernatural forces. We remember the fall of Arthas and how he smote down his dwarven companion and company...a flagon of meade to be hailed....(and m'lady, we have sent thee a few concept images for thee via instagram.)
It's sad but true, the Dwarves of Azeroth have been through their fair share of hardship over the years. I'm excited and hopeful to see more of a spotlight shone on them in the future, let's see what happens! And thanks so much for that, I haven't been using Instagram much lately, but I'll check it out :D

We've HAD Earthen allies since Storm Peaks questing in Wrath.

but it is truly the Gift of Flesh. The Dwarves would have no Free-will were they still subject to tyranny of the Titans Order Magic.
So well put and very true - the Dwarves are constantly looking for ways to return to their old power, but what would that mean for them really? To be immortal, bound to the earth and under the Titans' will (which looks more and more sketchy by the day), or made of flesh, with their own free will, but free? Perhaps they'll go through this same realisation once they catch up with the existing Earthen in the next expansion 🤔thanks so much for watching!

Just to point out, High Elves (or quel'dorei) never trouly leave the Alliance.
High Elves has been politicaly diveded by factions.
Blood Elves, for example are not a truuuuu race. They are a faction of High Elves
Alleria, Vereesa, Voldana, Auric Sunchaser, are exemplos of Alliance High Elves members .
In fact, pre-burning crusade, all High elve npc in game are member of the alliance

What i like with the erthen in this next expansion is they feel like there own thing. The different groups and the story makes them feel more human. The erthen didn't have females before and now they will. I'm going to like this.
