nena I just feel the necessity to say that your diction is perfect, I'm not a native english speaker and it's really great to watch your videos and understand everything that you're saying. also thank you for this video, I'm a beginner and I learned how to play guitar by myself, so it was very helpful :)
@@robinho6544 oiii, nossa sim, amo os vídeos dela, ajudam demais! só toco musica da taylor agora kkkkkk boa sorte pra vc tb! ps: amei o icon da katy hehe
I think strumming is more important than chords and all that stuff and the main thing I follow your tutorials is because of your easiest strumming patterns. People actually go to guitar classes but because of pandemic, I literally learnt my first song in just 15 days. Its super beginner and I suggest you all to follow this channel. Thanks nena. You are like my sister😃😃
another tip: while strumming, for eg: in the first strum pattern, you stop your hand after each first down, but you should keep moving it up and down. So: keep your hand moving up and down continuously, but hit the strings according to the strum pattern. This really helps and strumming seems more "flowy"
I started playing guitar in January and at first it was really hard to do strumming patterns and it sounded horrible hahah I was so frustrated but I just kept practicing and right now is easier, of course I’m not like super good at different techniques but I do some of them by memory, and I just remember how i started and realized that practice is everything.! And this video was very helpful even that I’m not like a super begginer.(but of course I still have a lot of things to learn) and thanks to you i have learned a lot, like palm muting and some picking(picking its really hard for me but im gonna keep practicing) and strumming patterns for my songs hahah
Hey Nena, just have to say your tutorials are awesome! I’ve been playing for over 40 years, including gigging at bars, etc., and I like to keep myself grounded in the basics by watching You Tubes like yours. Your vids are so clear and concise and I’ve really polished some bad habits by watching you. Thank you!!!
Hey Nena! I started guitar a few weeks ago and I’ve played drums for years. It was so hard for me to transition over but you’re videos are amazing and they are helping me get better at guitar. Thank you so much and please keep making content!
I really love how she teaches us how to play songs, like, omg she explains it to us so we can easily get how to do it 😭 And can I have a request on a tutorial on 1 step forward 3 steps back? I really want to play that song so bad snshsksjs
Thank you for your videos. I love them so much. Hope, you'll do more videos about guitar techniques for beginners. They're so helpful! I'm looking forward to work on all the techniques and tips you gave in this video. ❤️❤️❤️
This was really helpful! I would really love a tutorial on Last Time from Red! Palm muting is done I struggle with, but this got me on track!😂 Thanks a lot
Nena the way you hold the pick and how you rest your hand on the guitar while playing is so unique and it looks rlly comfortable. Could you show us how? When I watch other tutorials on how to properly hold a pick, it never seems too work for some reason:(( Thanks so much for this helpful video btw!
It's my first time in your channel but I totally enjoyed watching you while generously sharing your knowledge to everyone who wants to learn everything about playing a guitar. Keep on teaching while motivating a lot of people. By the way, I am also a Swiftie and I am glad that I found you. You were so great :)
This is amazing, thank you so much for doing it!!!! Could you please consider to make a tutorial for The Man from Taylor's tiny desk performace???? Tysm 🥰❤🥰♥️
Hey Nena great video really helped me. Could you do a guitar tutorial of favourite T shirt by Jake Scott ? There is literally no guitar tutorial of this song and l really want to play it
Hello, Nena! Thank you so much for your videos! They're useful and inspiring! I adore your tutorials & really want to play guitar! But the problem is I can't tune d and g strings! I'm totally beginner and don't know what to do. Nena, please, help me! Thanks in advance!
do you have a video on how to strum with a guitar pick or any tips? i struggle with that and i can’t focus watching other youtube tutorials 😭😭i don’t know why but i can only watch yours
I don't ever follow along with provided strum patterns, I just sorta invent my own and what I think sounds right and it ends up fine. It's easier for me to do strumming patterns by ear and just sorta messing around.
Okay so far this!!! This is sort of what I’m doing too- I was learning a few songs from Andy Guitar and I noticed that while I would start with the pattern, as the song progressed I found myself just strumming to the rhythm and what my “ear” thought was best, just going with the flow of the song. I didn’t know if that was technically like an OK thing to do lol, but it works for now I guess🤷♀️. I would consider myself pretty musically inclined - choir throughout school and piano lessons for 7 years- just a very beginner guitar player 😄. Glad to see I’m not the only one that does this! Lol
Hi Nena! 🥰 I have a basic question: when you explain the first strumming pattern, it’s written DUDU DUDU DDU, but *verbally* (full measure way) you explain/play D UDUD UDUD DU (the half measure explanation/play seems to match the written pattern). Am I missing something? And is there a reason you don’t consider these to be different strumming patterns? Not trying to call you out at all, I adore you and your channel! I just watched this video when I first started back in Jan or Feb, and remember being a little confused about something, lol…now that I’m a little more experienced (and yet *still struggling* with holding to a set pattern! lol), I finally noticed this slight difference. In general, I seem to feel more comfortable playing a “non-specific pattern pattern” ??? 😆 …likely downstrumming, with some other pattern added (just sound lazy to me, lol)… sheesh! 🤷♀️🙋♀️🙇♀️😜
Question about picking and the arpeggio- are you starting at the bass that is part of the chord or just like the low E? I noticed when you switched from the G to Cadd9, you mentioned that a bit- so is that for all chords? Like say Em- would my first pick be on the A(then D) or still E? What if I’m picking a D chord? Then for the arpeggio- do you do it ONLY with the strings that are being used for the chords? Ugh I hope I’m hoping this is making sense lol.. I’m only 6 days into learning guitar- former piano player- and I’m so far teaching myself, hoping to start lessons in September. I’m sure I’ll get those questions answered as I continue along my journey but I figured I’d ask you first :) I am loving all of your Taylor Swift tutorials, I am a huge fan of hers and I’m so excited I’m finally setting time to learn how to play so I can hopefully get to where I’m singing and playing! Thanks so much!!
Nena can I play my g chord with the ring finger on the high e and not both fingers? My pinky just never goes where I want and that’s part of my issue with barre chords. I was taught I could play the g the way I do and now I just can break the habit. It does sound really nice though.
Can I ask, does this splitting of the measure leave half of the bar in each measure? Ie if 4/4 2 beats before the change and 2 beats after? I'm a little confused.
Thank you nena. I am used to playing guitar but this really helped me know how to strum better. U are like my teacher on youtube and im left handed too (in one of ur videos u said ) and thank you.(*´∀`*)

I agree. My progress stagnated until I got to know about this tip. Only then I was able to strum more complex patterns while singing along.
