43:24 "I cannot think of anything science has saved us from that didn't end up having a worse result than the problem it was set out to save us from." That is the single dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.
@@zonk362 Does it though? I'll be preaching that the west is disconnected from spirituality as much as the next guy, but being against technological progress in general just doesn't sit right with me. I think many psychedelics themselves are a technology, and that's a form of progress I welcome for example.
@@zonk362 I'm weary of the dangers of science worship and what we have come to call Scientism. I'm deeply mistrustful of the "sciences" of psychiatry and psychology for example, fields which claim to investigate the mind and barely pay any attention to psychedelic drugs or even meditation. In the case of the former, the practitioners usually aren't even familiar with the first hand effects of the drugs they prescribe to their patients. It's actually quite laughable. To me, the credibility of anyone who claims to have any interest whatsoever in the human mind while showing no interest in Tryptamines is _extremely_ questionable.
This is a very interesting take on the hobby. I really enjoyed it. (And the thing about science...a little hyperbolic but scencially right, you know? Hegel and Nietzsche talked about the modernity as a discourse (as valid and invalid as magic, religion, and so)
Interesting to hear Greg's take on modern mythology - sure, capitalism is a myth, and may well be heading for a fall. But so were the hunting myths of the mammoth-hunting tribes. That ended badly as well.

instaBlaster...
His comments on science were completely off-the-rockers, but otherwise interesting thoughts on mythology.
