  • When you utilize and oversize spare tire, the third brake light becomes blocked. But you can fix that! By adding a 3rd LED light right behind the spare! This video will show you how to do it, and explain the benefits behind it!
the light we used we purchased off of Amazon here:

Awesome video. Can you make one regarding backup cameras when your Jeep didn’t come with one?

That is a great idea. And there are so many options out there for this that for me, the hardest part will be choosing an option to feature. Hmm. I've always wanted a back up camera. So yeah, let me see what I can do! Thank you for the suggestion!

I have an exprite 3rd brake light for my 2018 jeep wrangler. It has a remote. The red brake lights work with the spare tire but I don't know how to connect the power source for the remote. Any help is appreciated

I didn’t see the light link in your description. The website linked didn’t have it either. I just got my first Jeep, JK Ruby and no 3rd brake light with the aftermarket tire carrier and 35’s.

This is what we used. Apologies it was not in the description. Congrats on the jeep find. Wishing many years of adventures!

Did you consider using the factory clip for the light you took off to have a more watertight connection? (Being that you removed the original and are not using again)

You realize the tire carrier on the jeep is probably marginal for the weight of the 35" tire and wheel, correct? Also, other mounts allow you to mount the tire lower to provide better visibility out the rear window.

If you noticed in the video, that is not a factory tire carrier. In addition, for those of us who wheel, we prefer the tire higher as it tends to get hit less on ascents off road.

@@JeepingForBeginners Thanks for the response. Yes, I did notice and fully agree about the height. My concern with the carrier you have is that appears to use the factory mounting method which essentially puts the weight on the rather thin sheet metal in the center of the tailgate and the torque vector is on the tailgate itself vice most of the after market tire carriers extend the brackets that attach the tail gate to the jeep body. Not sure either of those concerns are valid. Thank you for the video, it was one of the better videos I have seen.
