He’s absolutely right about quarantining. I’ve just HAD to have a Petco fish before without a quarantine tank at home, and to say that I made a ton of more work for myself is putting it mildly. But it’s better than losing an entire tank or fish room. It might not happen EVERY time, but always quarantine so you don’t have to worry.
my 2 cents. Keep your quarantine tank as small as is reasonable. Meds go in based on water volume. It gets very expensive medicating fish in a large tank! Great video!
I started with two guppies from my son’s classroom (4th grade), he brought home a note from his teacher that said we could adopt two of the class guppies if we wanted them. Me having an empty 10 gallon decided we could take two in. Of course we got a male and female, and of course we got babies a few weeks later. After three batches of babies I finally got smart and separated them into two ten gallon tanks one for males one for females. The babies stopped and I could enjoy all the fish we now had (around 50/60 between the two tanks…yes overcrowded but room was an issue as I had 12 three gallon betta tanks back then too…). I am starting up again with guppies, first tank will be a 20 long where they can free breed….for a while. 😁 Edited for autocorrect…😔
As someone already stated a small tank is best for QT tanks(in case you have to or want to medicate). Note that a qt tank does not actually have to be a tank - you can even use a bucket or a Sterlite tub/container they sell at Dollar General . I suggest always running an extra sponge filter in an established tank so you always have one ready for when you do have to set up a QT tank (if you are not buying fish all the time then there is no need to have a QT tank up and running all the time) - Just my comments for the algorithm - Have a nice day
Yea I’m an idiot lost 9 guppies already and only have two left with 5 babies also, so now I’ve medicated the tank cause I did notice some fin rot hopefully I can pull through losing fish.
Other than a fish from the puffer family, what other predatory/omnivore freshwater fish do people recommend to deal with culls (fry and adult sized) ? I've thought about having guppies again but I usually tend to have planted tanks and generally have a lot of survivors in my colony tanks.
@@MichaelsFishRoom Flowerhorns are adorable, but they get really big. I remember the tank you had yours in. I'm still floating the idea about getting back into guppies, I had a strain I bred for 10 years and then we had a winter storm a few years back, lost power for 2 weeks and that was the end of my strain. I had so many tanks at that time too...sigh!
i moved 2 guppies from my old tank to a new tank and my guppy started to jump out from the tank please note that they didnt have this behavier before and the new tank has a lot of Oxygen the water is dechlorinated and added seachem stability . i had a led on my new tank but it sad to watch the fishes keep trying to jump out . any solution for this problem
its 15 gallon tank new i used Aqua Amazon Soil prefetional and some plants from the old tank , also i an extra spong filter i had in the old tank to help with the banafical bacteria . i had the tank in thr living room that has a lot of lights . i gess this is not good for the fish 🙄
@bassamnijem4848 Check your thermometer and your heater and make sure both are working. My fish almost cooked to death when my heater broke. My thermometer wasn't working either. So don't trust yours. Double check it with a different thermometer.

He is pretty smart.

www.michaelsfishroom.com for your stock!
I too am an opportunistic eater. LOL. Good advice. My humpback dragon puffer really appreciates a good cull. It's the circle of life.
Lol
My pair of Humpbacks will eat culls till they can't move if I am not careful😳😆
Thanks for the guppy info. I'm learning towards getting some guppies. 👍
Do it!

Saturday morning Michael. I’m off to a good start this Saturday. 🎉
Have fun!
How do you like the new fishroom lay out as compared to the old one?
Still getting used to it and changing little things.

Sorry for your loss. Fin rot is from poor water quality most likely.

Flowerhorn of course! Really anything that is bigger will work for the most part!

Tell me more about the tank.

also i noticed that the fishes swim in the way of the water flow . like where the outlet of the filter
the way the guppy do is diving to the bottom and swim fast up to jump out of the tank

You have a lot of energy lately. You must be feeling better!
I sure am!
Biggest mistake, I'm going to be rich selling fish 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
100% 😆 🤣
True...
#facts
All the easy money is gone, have to really work at it now
housing guppies in same tank with your Oscar ......
Lol
Water changes #6 most of us don't have automatic water systems.
If set up correctly, that’s really not a big deal.
👍🏻👍🏻

1. Getting guppies in the first place! 😂
LOL
I tried to control my exploding guppy population with a convict cichlid. She's big. She's hungry. She's not making a dent in their population.
lol, get another!
Just one tank of guppies......don't make me laugh.....hahahaha. LOL.
Lol
i mix up 4 different foods together lol
Nice!
best solution for baby guppies is Angelfish
You spelled Flowhorn wrong.
People who run salt 24/7😂
