Mid Summer Work - Getting a Old Flat Top look in Bald Cypress Bonsai

- Bald Cypress are some of the coolest tree's, specifically the old flat top ones that have been around for hundred of years. I have tried to achieve that in this tree, way back when I collected it in 2014. It was just a stump then but I kept at it every year. It's finally getting to where I want it and it's a beaut! These guys ,when healthy, just don't stop and are just so cool!

I simply do Bonsai in parallel with my busy life as a way to relax and connect to nature. I approach bonsai with a very simple approach, simple tools, and just start working.

It's heavy but not too bad as Cypress wood is a lot like balsa wood but rot resistant - but it's still stupid heavy and awkward
@@givetanks They remind my a lot of dawn redwoods. One day when I have space I would like to start a few projects like this! You always get me fired up!
They kinda grow the same but redwood get much much bigger

Is it naturally collected from wild?
@@kaushikacharjee2480 yeah it's wild collected about 10 years ago and it's about 40ish years old
