If you wanted an example of gritty superhero films done right, just look at the Dark Knight trilogy. The DC films haven't failed because they're serious despite what people seem to believe, it's because of the constant plot hole writing and Zack Snyders directing. With the former, both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman had glaring faults which could easily have been fixed and yet, weren't. So the whole film suffers when it really shouldn't have. For the latter, Snyder likes to direct and make a lot of moments in his films, iconic pieces that people remember afterwards. But he does so at the expense of scenes, so the films just become moment after moment strung together without any real or effective impact.

I hate the whole Martha thing. It's not the name that made him stop, in fact, he was more pissed than before when he said that. The whole reason he stopped was because the last act of this "God's" life, he wanted him to save another while he was dying. Batman realized that superman is not through and through. He was going to lose a loved one just like Bruce did. I'm not saying the movie is flawless, but that one scene is pinnacle and really important moment. Also, the reason why superman didn't try to tell him the situation more than once was probably because he was pissed that Batman is trying to kill over 3 times, pretty pissed off I'd guess.
I love you guys. If more people approached movies and shows with your enthusiasm and willingness to just enjoy them for what they are, the world would be a happier place. My only complaint is that Eric never wears the Blind Wave Kryptonian shield shirt I sent. Damnit Eric, this was the perfect time!
They did the same thing George Lucas did with the Star Wars prequels. They completely disregarded everything the fans wanted and expected and blasted us with exposition after exposition to explain their "GENIUS PLAN" in detail because they think their viewers are too stupid to understand the story unless they take hours to explain it all step by step and leave all the action, which is what people really want, as a 10 minute thing. And when the action finally starts to pick up... interrupt it for more exposition and boring discussions between the characters.
I definitely agree with you guys on The Flash. I absolutely love the DC CW tvshows, and am quite invested in them, but seeing a different version of those characters will still be nice. For example, there's still people that still see Green Arrow as Hartley, and just refuse to accept Stephen as a great Green Arrow, it's just sad in my opinion. It's a different version, and we should all try to learn to appreciate the different approaches. It all just means more DC to love for us, right?

The thing I loved about Bats is that he had a code. Now he doesn't anymore. The moral grey area he was in was interesting. He was a man walking a thin line and fighting his inner demons. That's gone now because he has already crossed the line. That also made his relationship with Joker interesting. Joker who was always trying to get him to cross that line. Really fucking interesting. That made also his relationship with Supes interesting. They were unified because they both didn't kill. But Bats was still the brooding vigilante that operated in a moral grey area while Supes stood for truth and justice. That showed a nice contrast between the who. That's gone now too because Supes is just as brooding and extreme. You can tell me whatever you want that there are tons of different versions of the characters but these are the traits that made me LOVE the characters and DC comics in the first place. Such a shame how WB is dropping the ball (from my perspective and in my opinion. Don't feel offended).

the movie doesn't make any sense tho. The reason why critics bash these DC movies is that they fail to succeed in the basics of film making. A cohesive and linear script, a well edited movie that flows with no pacing issues, character development with believable motivations and a conclusive 3rd act that isn't a generic CGI fight scene.

I want to point out that the whole reason Batman stops fighting superman isn't because their mothers have the same names. That was what initially caused him to hold up, yes, but that wasn't the whole reason he stopped fighting. Up until that point batman couldn't see superman as anything other than a possible enemy, he had no reason to suspect that this mystery person would always be a friend. When Batman learned Superman had someone he called mother, he began to see Superman as less of a threat and more of a human. That was why he stopped fighting.
The word I would use to describe BvS, is frustrating. Because this could have been a great movie (that EVERYONE would have agreed with). There was no need to cram so much into this one movie, I expect it's because they wanted to get onto Justice League as quickly as possible, but that was to the detriment of this movie. Also the casting of Eisenberg, maybe he played the part exactly how they wanted it played, but it was a bad choice, it felt out of place for the tone of this film. And above all, this should have just been about Batman vs Superman. No Justice League, no Doomsday, no Wonder Woman, no Lex. There was so much really good stuff here, Affleck was great, I still love Zack's visual style, rest of the cast minus Eisenberg was good. In comparison to other movies in the same field, it's certainly FAR from the worst. But it could have been top 3, if they hadn't made such stupid decisions. As always, this is just my opinion.

I want to be excited about Justice League and the comic-con footage looks promising. However there is sooo much ground to cover and things to explain if Steppenwolf is the villain, that I`m afraid they'll repeat their biggest mistake from BvS and overcrowd the plot.
This Batman killed but it was too clear why he did it. At first, until the day that Superman revealed himself to the world, he was no longer the Batman, he had hung up the cape after Jason Todd's death, I don't know if they'll bring Barbara Gordon in this too... When he went back to be the Batman, was out of vengeance and not justice. So, until that Martha scene, he didn't care too much about killing, if necessary. It was superman that reminded him who he was, this is why he said "Save Martha" and not "Save my mom". Anyways, I won't even go that road. I think that the movie was well written but some of the scenes were bad executed. The Martha scene and the Flash cameo were very messed up. Was Flash an ilusion??? I didn't get that scene. But I simply loved BvS, as a big Batman fan that I am... About the killings. That's not the first time we've seen Batman killing on the big screen, he killed too on that Tim Burton's movie in 1989, he killed all those ninjas in Nanda Parbat on Batman Begins, killed Rha's Al Ghul, killed Harvey Dent on The Dark Knight Rises and you guys say like he had killed innocent people, he only killed in self defense. Anyways... Loved your reactions, tho... This HT was funny as shit hahaha... You guys could watch the Man of Steel HT too, it's hilarious.

I didn't like the movie that much, but even I got the Martha scene, my problems were with the pacing. It wasn't cause the moms had the same name. Batman viewed Superman as just some random powerful alien that showed up. He never considered him as "one of the people". He emphasizes this by stating, "you were never even a man". So Batman would've never even thought this alien has a mom cause why would an alien wanting to take over Earth have a human mom? This humanizes Superman in front of Batman. Once Superman said "Martha", Batman was still going to kill him, but it wasn't till Lois said that was his mother. There, Batman knew he was acting like the killer who killed his parents. He wasn't fighting a alien/monster anymore. He was blinded by rage all along.

Random no offence but your avatar is little biased, therefore your judgement as viewer is biased. Unfortunately, BvS and Suicide Squad have the same issues, pacing, editing, story. In a movie called Batman vs Superman, Superman has no motivation to kill Batman at all aside from the fact that a guy forces him too. Tell me honestly, YES or NO do Captain America and Iron man have clear motivations to kill each other? And does anyone whisper in their ears and say fight each other right now?
Dude, I don't want to have to be convinced and explained into liking something. I want it to be good enough to like without that.

lol first of all, the whole is batman v superman how do you miss that idk, the editing and paced is fixed in the ultimate cut and is a more fleshed out movie. 2nd it doesnt make sense for superman to want to fight batman. if superman killed batman would that be superman YES or NO, thats common knowledge if you know anything about how to write superman. lastly iron man and captain america fighting at the end has nothing to do with the what they were fighting and they werent trying to kill each other sooooo. and yes somebody does whisper in their ears called emo zemo. unlike batman and superman where they realized fighting each other is dumb lets get the villian.
I want to point out that the whole reason Batman stops fighting superman isn't because their mothers have the same names. That was what initially caused him to hold up, yes, but that wasn't the whole reason he stopped fighting.
Up until that point batman couldn't see superman as anything other than a possible enemy, he had no reason to suspect that this mystery person would always be a friend. When Batman learned Superman had someone he called mother, he began to see Superman as less of a threat and more of a human. That was why he stopped fighting.
If it was Louise Lane at risk, he'd kill Supes first then save Louise...
jesse Eisenberg is easily the worst part of the film
Only if you take the movie seriously. Once you stop doing that, his over the top performance is kinda hilarious.

The word I would use to describe BvS, is frustrating. Because this could have been a great movie (that EVERYONE would have agreed with).
There was no need to cram so much into this one movie, I expect it's because they wanted to get onto Justice League as quickly as possible, but that was to the detriment of this movie.
Also the casting of Eisenberg, maybe he played the part exactly how they wanted it played, but it was a bad choice, it felt out of place for the tone of this film.
And above all, this should have just been about Batman vs Superman. No Justice League, no Doomsday, no Wonder Woman, no Lex.
There was so much really good stuff here, Affleck was great, I still love Zack's visual style, rest of the cast minus Eisenberg was good.
In comparison to other movies in the same field, it's certainly FAR from the worst. But it could have been top 3, if they hadn't made such stupid decisions.
As always, this is just my opinion.

If the Ultimate Edition was the one released in theaters it would have been better received it would still have hate but every big movie does.... I loved it to be honest the Ultimate Edition is the only version I've seen though...

I want to be excited about Justice League and the comic-con footage looks promising. However there is sooo much ground to cover and things to explain if Steppenwolf is the villain, that I`m afraid they'll repeat their biggest mistake from BvS and overcrowd the plot.

This Batman killed but it was too clear why he did it. At first, until the day that Superman revealed himself to the world, he was no longer the Batman, he had hung up the cape after Jason Todd's death, I don't know if they'll bring Barbara Gordon in this too... When he went back to be the Batman, was out of vengeance and not justice. So, until that Martha scene, he didn't care too much about killing, if necessary. It was superman that reminded him who he was, this is why he said "Save Martha" and not "Save my mom". Anyways, I won't even go that road. I think that the movie was well written but some of the scenes were bad executed. The Martha scene and the Flash cameo were very messed up. Was Flash an ilusion??? I didn't get that scene. But I simply loved BvS, as a big Batman fan that I am... About the killings. That's not the first time we've seen Batman killing on the big screen, he killed too on that Tim Burton's movie in 1989, he killed all those ninjas in Nanda Parbat on Batman Begins, killed Rha's Al Ghul, killed Harvey Dent on The Dark Knight Rises and you guys say like he had killed innocent people, he only killed in self defense. Anyways... Loved your reactions, tho... This HT was funny as shit hahaha... You guys could watch the Man of Steel HT too, it's hilarious.

I didn't like the movie that much, but even I got the Martha scene, my problems were with the pacing. It wasn't cause the moms had the same name. Batman viewed Superman as just some random powerful alien that showed up. He never considered him as "one of the people". He emphasizes this by stating, "you were never even a man". So Batman would've never even thought this alien has a mom cause why would an alien wanting to take over Earth have a human mom? This humanizes Superman in front of Batman. Once Superman said "Martha", Batman was still going to kill him, but it wasn't till Lois said that was his mother. There, Batman knew he was acting like the killer who killed his parents. He wasn't fighting a alien/monster anymore. He was blinded by rage all along.
