London zoo was the same. Concrete display boxes for depressed animals. I can remember a disconsolate orang utan sitting in a damp concrete enclosure with nothing in it. Disgusting. God rest it's soul.
@pheart2381 It was so sad! I cannot believe people actually enjoyed it at one time. Even now, the most modern zoos, you can see misery in the eyes of some animals.
I remember the old Belle Vue here in the UK, which must have been depressing for Zoo animals. Their closures were that small😢 🦒 🐻❄️ 🐒 ,we've not seen the 🧛♂️ Vampire film. But I definitely will do after watching 👀 this. 🐕 🧛♂️❤️❤✨️✨️✨️ Love it.❤❤
Thank you for the tour through the old zoo. My mother used to take me there when I was a little kid (nearly 70 years ago). I was way too young to realize what a terrible place that must have been for the animals. How miserable they must have been. I haven't been to the new(er) one, but I understand it's a lot nicer for the animals... more understanding their needs. Thanks again, and as usual... WELL DONE!!
Remember the Saturdays my father and I use to spend at the Griffith Observatory and the old zoo in the early 60's. Also the Merry-go-round and mininature train ride near the old Zoo. Some great Dad and son times. Will check out Zoltan. It slipped through the cracks in my movie list. Thanks for the memories Michael. My best to Jessica. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Have not seen Zoltan but the trailer you showed had me at Crown International Pictures. LOL! Need to find a copy and watch it now. Love you two and your videos.
Watching Zoltan has been my Halloween tradition ever since I got a copy as a free gift for subscribing to one of those VHS movie clubs back in the mid 90s When eBay came along, I got myself a copy on DVD and that's what I still watch each Halloween.
The beginning in Griffith Park reminded me of a short story I just read in Christmas And Other Horrors, if memory serves its called The Offering. Giving those type vibes 🖤
900 lbs seems small for a Polar Bear, poor Ivan that made me sad but I digress, thanks Michael that was a crazy surprise. When I was young I collected horror movies like kids now collect cartoon critters beginning with 'P'. I had to watch them all as soon as they were shown on T.V. here in the U.K. and I waited an age for Zoltan, it was rare, it was special and when I finally got to see it I adored it so much.
You make the most interesting videos about Los Angees and Hollywood. They are like mini movies. You have that amazing speaking voice to. Awesome jobj. Thank you for this awesome video!
ANYONE who knows the joys and pleasures of Zoltan: Hound of Dracula is wonderful-wonderful-wonderful. Very few movies have vampire dogs getting behind the wheel of a souped-up hearse and peeling out to chase someone, a verifiable classic for that alone. Best wishes to both of you!
Another great video. I see that Reggie Nalder is in that movie, That man scared me so much as a kid when i first saw Salems Lot, and even now whenever i see a photo of him as Kurt Barlow i look away 😂
Very cool. Haven't seen that movie in years, need to get a copy. Also, I don't think the trailer announcer understood what type of movie he was hyping.
That zoo is super popular in late 80s - 90s movies. That entrance was used in so many tv shows and b grade movies. One I can remember of the bat was first power. Awesome movie btw. If memory serves I think the A-team had a scene there too at one point.
OMG, love this. I don't remember seeing that and I was an adult in 1977. I knew I couldn't be the first to have vampire animals, my novels have a vampire cat (Baron Bast von Samedi, or Baron) and he turned the main antagonist's favorite dog, a champion Shetland Sheepdog named Lancelot after the dog got out and got run over. The dog's quite tame, it would be Baron you'ld have to worry about, he's 40 pounds of rare tortoise with a snarky attitude and a love of tasty, tasty rats and loves all the girl kitties. i have to go find Zoltan now and watch it. And I bet exploring that old zoon would be a fun trip.
Hmmm. Well, as plot devices to dislodge long interred caskets go, I suppose "the Romanian Army accidentally blowing open a crypt" followed by "a late night earthquake" is about as good as anything else they might have come up with. LOL! I love 60s and 70s "schlock-cheese" flicks, and this sounds like it was one of the "schlock-cheesiest." Thanks for another great video.
Having recently taken charge of a Greyhound, we felt it only fitting to watch Zoltan...5 days ago! We nearly called him Zoltan, but called him Gerry. Great film, great video, thank you.... Now Zoltan....
I have seen the movie, and, at the time, I really thought it was crap. Much later on I saw it again on a late night horror show. I found it really badly made, but it was hilarious. I now consider it a classic B movie ( comedy). This video you’ve made is the first time I’ve heard anyone mention it in a long time. It made me smile - like an idiot - and it brought back many truly fond memories. For that I thank you. Much love and many Blessings,❤,❤,😂.
I have never heard of the film until now. Just a pity, the animal enclosures are now empty, just looking at them, you imagine the different animals that were caged there. Another Great video.
You produce interesting, quality content. Write a screen play with "Baby Ghoul", and produce a scary old time movie. You have the skills and the fascination for this "Hollywood" history, to be able to come out with a film that is better than the rot that comes out on Netflix.
Gday from Australia 🇦🇺 subscribed ! Love the work if you and lovely wife Loved the clear lakes ballroom /buddy holly video (I performed as Buddy holly years back - guitar / vocals / glasses ) I didn’t like “Buddy” and their casting of valens - he played the guitar , he wasn’t a seductive dancer on stage He was a shy talented kid Keep up the great work mate . Ever come to Australia 🇦🇺. Lots of old convict locations - port Arthur / trial bay jail/ Ivan molat’s murder locations The ricks in Sydney - very historic
Truly classic movie of his time! I thank you Michael for showing this magnificent video. Great job as always! I like Dracula movies, haven't seen this one though, but i will!
I love exploring abandoned/historical places but the graffiti pisses me off. Some people call it art but I call it disrespectful. Thanks for another great video.
I remember watching this as a kid & i loved it, always known it as 'Zoltan, hound of Dracula'. I have it on DVD, Reggie Nalder (also Kurt Barlow in 'Salem's Lot') & his dedicated Doberman Pinscher, Zoltan ❤ Thanks for putting this up, just about to watch it again 😁👍 Happy new year to you & Jessica 🥳
This film is one we have to check out, after just seeing Nosferatu in cinemas we are in the mood for some more vampire films. But another amazing video, strange to see the sun wasn't there, it did fit the theme well. Maybe it's also a good thing it's no longer a zoo, it doesn't look like the animals had the best life there. Which was pretty common back in the day. You're so lucky to be able to visit all these places and tell the story behind it. Cannot wait till the next one!
I love how it's always Halloween here. Thanks, Michael. Some place I probably will never see in person. So I really appreciate these walks. Loved the Laurel Canyon, the Hollywood sign, the Bohemian Club vids. Take care exploring! :) hugs to Jessica!
Great video! Im a day behind as travelling, am going to watch this film on my next plane! I love the idea that in years to come people might dig down where they have filled in and think they have found Dracula and his families graves 😂 also amazing shirt Michael! Until next time xx🖤xx
In the movie, Zoltan's keeper is played by Reggie Nalder, the same actor who portrayed the Nosferatu vampire in Tobe Hooper's 1979's 'Salem's Lot'. Love your video revisiting Zoltan's crypt (he's still resting there....waiting..)
Thank you for sharing again. I've heard of the Dracula Dog movie but haven't seen it. But lol I will check it out soon. I love Griffith Park, go there a lot for hikes, old zoo. Observatory and museums. Spook on.
Going to have to look for Zoltan, the vampire dog. We, my husband and I worked at Blockbuster and never saw that title. So it’s not in our collection. But maybe soon it will be!! 😃😃 as for the park and abandoned zoo……perfect creepy place to explore!!! Thank you for sharing!!
Omgggg I haven’t heard of this movie! I’ll have to watch it now! Zoltan is so cute lol I could smell the zoo enclosure from here lol can’t imagine those stairs though! They looked so steep! Such beautiful locations! Thank you for another amazing adventure!! Love you both! 👻🦇💚
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Speaking of Dracula, I was at a bookstore yesterday & saw this hardcover copy of Bram Stoker's novel & the cover was rather creepy. It depicted Dracula in a more monstrous form, similar to Count Orlok. Couldn't afford it sadly, but I took a photo of it to take note & buy it when I can. Hope you & Jessica had a great new year!
It looks so beautifully filmed, great job at capturing the creepy atmosphere. It looks like the same day I did a day time video about the progress of my home haunt. The old zoo is great for a horror movie or an adventure movie. The passages, tones of the walls, just a great atmosphere that day to go with this historical site.
To be honest with you I have never heard of this movie. But I did love this video of the filming locations from this film and all I can say that I not only got a movie history lesson from you, I also love looking at this old zoo's eerie gothic vibe. I can't wait for what movie you talk about next and have a nice day.
Poor fur babies I hope they are at peace ❤
That old zoo was built in 1912 and closed in 1966. Back then, zoos were basically prisons for animals. There might be some ghosts of animals there! 😊
Circuses were worse! Those relics from the 18th century need to go the way of the dodo!
I love that video, its beautiful❤❤❤and thank you for making this for us🩷❤️🩷🙂👍🌸🌺🌸💕💕💕

I adore the outdoor videos where you explore abandoned historical and haunted locations. I can’t wait for the Italy trip.
How have I never heard of this movie as an 80s child. Great work guys as always another fantastic location.
Howl yeah! You found Dogcula!

The guy doing the voice-over on the trailer thought it was a comedy: "woops, there he goes again."
😂😂 my thoughts exactly
What trailer
@@darlingdeb7010Go ahead and drive a tractor trailer and see how hard it is
What kind of animals did they have there
Zoltan hound of Dracula and his creepy keeper brilliant 70's gold thanks for the memories 🪦🐕
I’d love to see what ed wood would do with this😅
Like I've said on your channel before, Michael you take us to all the best locations.
