Where do you get the plastic bags at? I have had a hard time finding something that would work for remotes. Glasses as well, as I assume it's the same bag. Seen several other people ask, but no replies. Please do spill the beans.

@@StealthySandwich i get mine on Amazon and pay between 7 and 14 cents for each mailer. I buy them in packs of 100 or 300.

Thank you for posting this. I noticed that my local charity shop wasn't putting out remotes. I asked them about it and they said they have been tossing them out. I've asked them to start a box in the back and they agreed! I'll probably pay $1 a piece for them, but they dig out three immediately and sold all three to me for a $1 just for asking. Awesome.

THANK YOU! I have been learning from several youtubers about thrifting and you are IMMEDIATELY my #1! I wish you had videos like this for EVERYTHING I'm selling etc.
I'e been cleaning out my parents basement (full of 5 family members things from over lifetime) & been finding all kinds of stuff to try to resell. Books, toys, cds, dvds, electronics, misc. and now REMOTES. & I want to try buying a few things to resell from a thrift store now too beyond what I already have. Including things I'm foreign to like tools. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I have a one of a kind way of testing remotes. I'm also a maker and made a IR to sound and light demo circuit for kids for my local makerfaire 8 years ago. I was able to easily use it to quickly press all the buttons and hear unique sounds for the unique codes. Makes me more confident that the remote really works and made a breeze of testing 160 remotes that I acquired recently for only $50.

I dont know if you mentioned it, I glossed over the video because I already do a lot of what you already said. But remotes to beds and recliners also go for really good money. I recently sold a bed remote for over $100. Sold within an hour of listing it. But the bottom line is, when you are at yard sales or thrift store, comping is your friend. You cannot go wrong with comping things out. Knowing how to quickly and correctly understand comps is the key IMO.

I've sold a TON of remotes and I have bins and bins full of them I still need to clean, test and list. There used to be a Salvation Army store near me that had BINS FULL of them, and they were so happy to get rid of them they sold me entire bins full for $15 or something. Then that store closed, but I have enough to keep me busy for quite a while, and every once in a while I find more at Goodwill or yard sales and such.
I find some are so disgustingly dirty like somebody spilled soda on them that then that got sticky and then other dirt stuck to that, making them so disgusting that I feel like I have to take them apart to thoroughly clean them. I would have taken apart the one you cleaned in your video.
I have a couple questions though--what do you do with the ones that don't work? Do you do any e-recycling?
How do you test RF remotes? I have a couple of those.
Where do you get your bags?
    Thanks!

I sold a few remotes on eBay a couple of years ago. Didn't get any returns. I just cleaned around the buttons with a QTip and used isopropyl alcohol spray, in very small quantity. I didn't know which brands to buy, but I just knew Sony were popular. Thanks for the tips! Could you just test the remote in front of a mirror? I also wonder if a lot if thrift shops throw remotes straight in the bin if they are donated without the appliance?
