For most people though, you're better off with the MacBook Pro. I do completely agree with the idea of Apple moving to ARM. It's inevitable at this point. Can't wait to see it happen!
I have owned one since release. It still exists, because it is the best "ultrabook" / sub notebook out there, and there is no competition. It weighs just 0.9KG, is fanless, makes no noise, has a decent 1440P 12 inch screen, runs mac os, and is as thin as a coin. Plus it comes in gold and space grey. There is nothing quite like it. Even the air is not the same, because it has more weight and is thicker. A single port is no issue, you plug in to a USB C enclosure, and you have all the ports you need e.g ethernet, HDMI, power, 2 USB type A. Johnathan is right, they are playing the long game especially with the 12" MacBook, this MacBook even tho it has just discontinued will be the future testbed for apples next direction when they bring arm architecture to macOS, this laptop will resurface and will become the first MacBook to feature apples chipsets, at this point we will probably see large strides in cpu performance coupled with macOS and it will leap ahead of the air and most likely be the demise of the air, that's my prediction.
well, in this comment section, i've seen a guy saying that: having fans and a cooling system will slow down a laptop and make it lag. and that's why he has this macbook sooo, i kind of rest my case for the type of people that have this
The thing with apple is that it’s expensive cause you are buying the software and the hardware whereas with other companies you are only buying the hardware
That's a fair way of explaining how to tell youself how to justify this horrible price tag. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if we are honest, apple is a damn greedy company that just increases their price tags with every day. Still worth it tho.
I picked up a used one for about £600 - it’s fast, super light, and turns heads. I love it. And who’s using a cable for anything OTHER than charging in 2019? No one’s syncing an iPhone to their Mac anymore, my headphones are all wireless.

I am a lawyer and use the MacBook for WORD, EXCEL, ADOBE PDF READER, SKYPE, WHATSAPP without any issues (all the apps running in the latest version). My only complaint about the machine is the keyboard. Just to be clear, the problem has nothing to do with key size neither key travel distant. It's the stupid butterfly mechanism that keeps getting stuck with dust. Even hair is a motive to jam the keys. So far I had to clean my keyboard a couple of times and I am getting pretty good at it (this sucks). Unless you use it daily, you can’t understand how awesome it is to use. I love mine so much. The portability of it is second to none and it really is just a pleasure to use. With every day tasks it is just as snappy as my 15 inch Pro. Seriously an awesome computer.
Seeing the webcam shocked me, I have never owned a MacBook since I prefer windows but all my friends with MacBooks, that was always something that looked good on their laptop.
Wow, you guys actually predicted the future. I love my 12" MacBook by the way.
Austin Evans: Why macbook still exists?
Apple: No.
Great video! I actually use an 2016 12" MacBook as my main computer. Yeah... I know... but It does everything I need it to though and it's so insanely thin and light. No, it's not a good value but I do think it makes sense for some people that want a full computer with Mac OS and want to be as thin and light as possible.
You could compare it to an ipad, but to me, an ipad with a keyboard just looks cheap and nasty, the macbook is far nicer to look at. Put a dbrand skin on it and it looks great.
MacBook model?

No. Fucking cheaper than that. It has a weak mobile processor and worse specs than a MacBook Air which is cheaper some how.
Well it doesn't anymore 🙃

I just bought the MacBook 12" for college coming from a 2012 MacBook Pro and I love my new MacBook, the size is amazing and very portable. It's still a good laptop in 2019.
I am about 2 years into my MacBook and it is still like brand new. It is super light and boots up crazy fast and has an outstanding battery. I do have to add that the battery is starting to show some wear. It is not as good as it was when it was new, but still very good
I think Austin is running out of ideas for his videos... same old, same old

Speedy Turtle FACTS, I still have my 2013 13” MacBook and it runs good and it’s still super fast and I never had a problem with it.
Who's gonna tell them about M1 macs that would come out in another year and a half

Will Apple remove the ports and wirelessly charge the laptop?
Some day.. yes, I guess..
Yeah I think so. Like it is, the future is gonna be cloud based, and more stuff I can’t understand lol.
probably far into the future - but there's still going to be that USB-C on it, for a while

Buby Anwar um do you know how much work goes into that? Apple has good hardware anyways, I would pay the premium price.
well, in this comment section, i've seen a guy saying that: having fans and a cooling system will slow down a laptop and make it lag.

sooo, i kind of rest my case for the type of people that have this
The thing with apple is that it’s expensive cause you are buying the software and the hardware whereas with other companies you are only buying the hardware
Alexander Goodwin you are also getting windows 10, although it is only OEM which is a lot cheaper.
That's a fair way of explaining how to tell youself how to justify this horrible price tag.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but if we are honest, apple is a damn greedy company that just increases their price tags with every day.
Still worth it tho.

Out of all names they named it “MacBook?” They could’ve named it “MacBook slim.”
I picked up a used one for about £600 - it’s fast, super light, and turns heads. I love it. And who’s using a cable for anything OTHER than charging in 2019? No one’s syncing an iPhone to their Mac anymore, my headphones are all wireless.

Why does the MacBook 💻 still exist?
To IGNORE 😗
Ipad portability running macOS, excellent display and speakers. It's an excellent little machine for web browsing, email and word processing, a great second laptop. No it won't replace my MBP16 but I love mine!
Hi Austin! I really liked the video. I am a Macbook 12" user since it's been launched. I bought the Core M5 unit with 8Gb of ram. Until today the Macbook 12" has been great for all my needs. Because its awesome portability I can take the MacBook 12" with me everywhere. It's super light. But as you mentioned in the video this is a machine that is not meant to work with video or photo edit software. If you travel a lot and don't need to edit video or photo this is the right machine. Keep up the good work!
Idk

this is one of the best form factors and size in a laptop that apple has ever created. They should bring this back with at least an M1 processor, 256gb disk space and 8gb RAM. There is a space for this laptop now more than ever, especially now that the MBAir M2 grew a little in screen real state.

In Hong Kong second hand MacBook 12” sells for half the price and for a Modern MAC its better than the old MacBook Air that’s selling for the same price
I love my 12" MacBook. It ist the perfect device to serving the web on the couch. I like it more than a tablet, cause it has that great touchpad. Futher I can plug it to an external USB-C monitor.
An iPad also only have one port. You don't need more, if you use bluetooth and cloud storage or a NAS.
Before the MacBook Air 2018 was released. It was the only lightweight Mac OS device. The Air has a display reselution which you can't use. And the MacBook 13" was much bigger and heavier before they redesign it.
The most hated thing in new MacBook Pro design is the Touch Bar!
And I hates it because there is no option for people choose NOT to have Touch Bar in 15inch model

Apple:
"We make a surreal amount of money per year but we're still gonna sell an outdated slab of metal for more than 1,000 dollars."
The fact you can literally get a more powerful Ultrabook for less than that really is a testament to why the Macbook 12" really isn't worth it. Hell, even the new Macbook Air will probably push it out of the lineup someday
