  • If you love poker strategy, you will love this video series. Phil Galfond is joining me for a series of videos where we break down some Pot Limit Omaha hands, No Limit Hold Em hands, and a Real Poker Talk video. This is the first video we did on a hand I played at $5/10/20 PLO on Live at the Bike a few months back. You can find the full video if you are a great detective and good at searching in the LATB archives at liveatthebike.com
    Let me know what you think of this format.

    Why I don't like the re-raise on the turn: If he calls, VERY few river-cards will be good for you. And, HIS range is basically anything, with the exception of KK/1010 (top two sets.) And, YOUR hand is basically face-up. Well, HALF of your hand is clearly K10 or K8...

    Such a good play by him. Scary bc we could have some AQ but not many when we bump turn. Like your turn raise. Hate his preflop call. Just folding this hand. He almost compounded his mistake but his balls dropped on this river. Interesting hand.

    Sick bluff. So you're saying the guy getting bluffer really can't have a straight because he raised the turn? What about kq109? I guess most hands that raise turn don't have straight draws w them is what you're saying?

  • @Trias805

    I don't know why Phil said your blockers were really bad. You're blocking AQJX, AKQX, QT9X etc. Is it because if he had a coordinated hand like that he would more likely reraise preflop, so it leaves him with less coordinated AQXX and Q9XX (plus maybe some 97XX) hands in his range that you don't block (except for the Ac)?

    Clearly I agree with the fold. However I would being looking at the player when the river is dealt rather than staring at the felt. He def didn't seem excited when that river dropped in fact he had a look of misery on his face. Not that I would call simply on a live read but it would make it a little easier with the correct blockers. If you reply the hand and watch his facial expressions I am sure you will see what I am talking about..... Hard to pick this up in game when being locked into the felt.

      you have the AQ blocker. is villian pot jamming with 3rd nuts given the action on turn? its a reluctant call because he blocks the board.

  • @russ33c1
    @russ33c1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The broadway ranges favor your range more than his. You block AQ broadway. Q9 could theoretically jam, but is Q9 going to Lead turn, call raise with turn gutshot, (maybe he has pairs with it, but you block the pairs too!)(4x 8x unlikely part of a raise/ call preflop range.)
    You block broadway nuts, and sets. Only plausible villian-value range seems to be 7986 double suited or 1 suit, you block all of the nutted value range. So is villian going to river pot lead 3rd nuts into a broadway board in 4 card hold em? Q9 is possible but doubtful because it;s only a gutshot on turn. I think its a reluctant call because you are blocking the board and I don't think villian pot leads middling value range. Bluffing does happen in PLO, perhaps even more than NLHE because blockers are much more significant.

    Joey make a video about what happened heads up in the 100k. Imo dealing under the table is fine since wsop won't allow it, but that heads up was quite disgraceful and harmful to the wsop brand and the meaning of a bracelet.

  • @californiaplant-basedeater2761

    The guy was looking to instabet to a check on the river. I thought I caught a wry smile in there too when he did it. If he seemed clever then he would have tried to make it look bluffy if he had it.
    Someone said you were face up with top two which seems true. A draw and you probably just call and let him try to bluff the river or bluff yourself. A semi bluff on turn seems way too risky there. So he knew you had only two cards that had to be A Q. If Q9 he bluffs against that anyway.

    Why can’t he be bluffing here an equal amount of the time as having it. If he had aq with not clubs would he really call the turn. Q9 seems like the only likely hand. 97 would not shove and more likely make a small blocker bet. What about live reads, cause overall his play seems pretty poor from start to finish

  • @lineageraw7973
    @lineageraw7973 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    if he had set, will he bet that big for the river? if he hit his gut shots, u may as well to pay him off.

    Can't call. Ac is just a bad card to have in your hand

  • @JonDoe-zi1gr
    @JonDoe-zi1gr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    But it's so simple. All you have to do is divide from what you know of him: is he the sort of man who would keep all his chips safe in front of him or risk bluffing them off to you? Now, a clever man would keep his chips in his stack, because he would know that only a great fool would re-raise the turn with a worse hand. You are not a great fool, so he can clearly not steal the pot from you. But he must have known you are not a great fool, and would have counted on you knowing it, so he can clearly represent strength and bluff the pot on you.
    But Amer is a name coming from the Middle East, as everyone knows, the middle east is entirely populated with terrorists, and terrorists are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by him, so he can clearly not bluff the pot from you.
    But you've got a Giant youtube channel, which means you're exceptionally famous, so you could've been bluffing yourself, trusting on your popularity to save you, so he can clearly not check giving up the lead to you. But, you've also Befriended Doug Polk, which means you must have studied ranges, and in studying you must have learned his all-in range has you beat, so you should put your cards in the muck as fast as possible (You're just stalling now, trying to get him to give something away, it won't work) , and you can clearly not call the chips in front of you.
    You only think you guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! And to think, all that time it was your hand that was good. You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is "results Oriented thinking." They were both losing plays. One loses now, the other long term.
