Consider it has 2-2.8 and don't need adaptor for Sony, it's really sad to see Nikon still holding Tamron back to give us equal options to enjoy a 3rd party lense

Theres same 35-150mm f2-2.8 for nikon z mount. however its wee bit more expensive than e mount one.

Very useful! Do you think that with the more recent Z-series cameras / firmware, the (already nice) AF with this lens will have further improved? (I'm considering this lens for the occasional stage shooting on locations where I can't conveniently change lenses)

Appreciate your video and testing. I don't yet own a Nikon Z mirrorless body but I will someday. I'm currently using the Nikon D800 and D7200 and the Tamron 35 f1.8 VC, 45 f1.8 VC and 90 f2.8 Macro VC and your testing tells me that my Tamron lenses will probably work on a Z body with FTZ adapter. I'm thinking about getting this lens or the 70-210 f4 VC and I've always wondered about compatibility.

Thanks Mark for taking the time to watch and comment. The Tamron website also has a list of compatible lenses and the firmware they need to make them work properly for Z mount. Recommend you check that out as well.

Hey, great video. Would you recommend it for video? Used with z6ii, im in between, this tamron 35-150, nikon f 24-120ed vr and sigma 24-105 art
I have tamron 70-200g2 at the moment and it is very slow for my line of work.. thanks

Hi there, it's ok for video, but the motor is a little noisy when it hunts for focus, also not a smooth or fast a the z mounts. If it were me and I needed something similar for video I would go for the z mount 24-120 f4. Z mounts will always be better than adapted lenses especially for video IMO.

I have a Nikon D750 with a Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 G2 lens, I'm thinking about upgrading to a mirrorless camera, in this case the Nikon Z6 II.
I've seen several videos that say we have to update the lenses, with TAP-in Console.
    Did you do that?
If I buy the Nikon Z6 II (body only) and put the Tamron in, will it work well for both video and photo?
Will I have compatibility issues? will it work at 100% with a good auto focus?

Hi There, with this lens it depends on what firmware you have on it. If you have the latest firmware it should work straight away, if not, you may need to update with tap in console. My Tamron 35-150mm on this video worked without the need for firmware update as it was a fairly new lens.
With regards to how well it works for video and photo, it works well, but not as good as the native z mount lenses.
Check these two websites out, it may help you make a more informed decision on your firmware and compatibility questions:

I wonder with the FTZ II will improve, from what I've read they say it does. Your thoughts? Have you had any experience with the FTZ II version? Thanks

Hey Jay, sorry I haven’t had any experience with the FTZII. The response time on the EVF after the latest firmware update has helped though in general.

Tamron say they are working on updates for FTZ wonder if they have done this yet for this lens

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer
      @ThePhantomPhotographer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Robert, I contact a Tamron rep before making this video and there is nothing in the works in the way of an FTZ update at the moment for this lens. Saying that however, it does work OK. It's just not as good as a native lens, which is expected I suppose.

@@ThePhantomPhotographer it was something I read on a forum, guess I am clutching at straws lol..I'll probably go with the nikon 70-200 F4 instead..hopefully that works better. Thanks

This lens does not need an update. It works with the FTZ out the box.
