    Nicely done, this was a lens I was really interested in from the minute it was announced earlier in the year, had it just over 2 weeks now and it surpasses all my expectations.
    What amazes me is it is so sharp throughout the full range and loses nothing even at 150, I was so pleased with it I sold my Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2 lens I found it actually sharper!.
    It is also so much more versatile with the longer reach, I have paired it with the Tamron 17-35 2.8-4 another fantastic lens, as a mainly Landscape photographer the saving in weight is substantial,
    and shooting with a Nikon D850 I am amazed at the crispness of the images, it really is like a little bunch of primes.

      Thankyou mate. Totally agree with your comments. It is surprisingly so sharp right through the zoom range. Extremely happy with the lens as well! I am pairing this with the Nikkor 16-35mm f4, similar to your setup, and couldn't be happier with these two lenses to travel around with.

      Dont you mean it can fit up 45mp d850? Thats sounds amazing as a zoom lens. what you think abour 5ds, can it fit up 50mp dslr?

    Cheers mate! This is exactly the review i was after. Im thinking of getting this lens over the RF 24 105 f4.. Such a hard decision. Cheers once again!

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer
      @ThePhantomPhotographer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a problem. I had been looking at the 24-105 f4 for ages, but just couldn't bring myself to get it, because it was never quite going to be enough range or the aperture I wanted. As soon as this lens was announced, it was like Tamron was reading my mind and I knew I had to get it.

    Great review, thanks a lot. Like most I've been interested in this lens since Tamron announced it, finally got the wife's approval so will get mine in a week or so. Plan to use this along with Tamron's 10-24 as a "catch most" small travel kit, I shoot in DX format so the 17-35 doesn't really get me into the wide angle side of things.

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer
      @ThePhantomPhotographer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment John, appreciate it. You've got a similar story to me. Got to get approval from the manager (wife) first!! It's honestly a great lens. I have used it for some portrait work recently as well and I was even more impressed with the sharpness, contrast and bokeh. I was thinking of getting an 85mm prime as my next addition, but honestly think I don't need to now, as it is that good as a portrait lens.

    It is a standard practice to turn Optical Stabilisation (VC) off when the camera is mounted on a tripod. I am surprised that you tried to leave it on during your testing upon a tripod. Otherwise a great review. It helped me to decide to buy the lens.

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer

    I didn't realise that there is software that creates more bokeh! Would have never crossed my mind -- is this an industry standard?

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer
      @ThePhantomPhotographer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much. I don't know if this is an industry standard, but here is the description from the lenses spec sheet: "Tamron has combined its many years of expertise in producing soft, beautiful bokeh defocus blur with the latest simulation technologies. As a result, the contrast between in-focus areas rendered accurately down to the fine details and backgrounds that gently blend into the scene produces a single high quality image."

    Great video... N a great lens surely n I would like to get one... But boss is it possible for u show pics taken with this lens using a APS-c camera... Bcos in most of the videos on TH-cam all r using a full frame camera to show the pics... But how does it look on a apsc one... It would be quite helpful... Thanks..

  • @tooshmart6669
    @tooshmart6669 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If Tamron made an aps-c version of this lens (for example their 17-50mm F2.8) this lens would be a 24-100mm F1.8-2.7 lens and that would be a "pro" lens in my opinion. . So on full frame at 35-150mm you will get same equivalent performance. Sony sells an aps-c only 18-105mm F4 for $650 and that is F4 on an aps-c sensor. If you shoot Fuji your fastest zoom available is an F2.8 for $1200 and thats still an aps-c sensor. This is a pro lens in terms glass quality and VC, not too mention a little weather sealing. If this was built out of metal and was internal zooming it would be a true "pro" lens. This is a great lens for the money.

    Great review. I'm looking at this lens to get one for myself. Would you recommend this one to use it on a cropped sensor?

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer
      @ThePhantomPhotographer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankyou. I haven't tried it on my crop sensor camera yet actually, but I would image it would perform well. You just have to remember the crop factor, so the 35-150mm would turn in to around 52-225mm on average. Therefore you would not be able to compose for wide scenes as much, but you would get extra reach at the long end.

    • @bartoszsekua6325
      @bartoszsekua6325 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThePhantomPhotographer Longer reach is actually what I'm looking for. I've got two good wide-angle glasses and the 18-105mm kit lens that I want to replace it with something longer, sharper, and with better aperture. This new Tamron seems to be a good option in terms of quality, size, and price of course. There is not much alternative on the market right now, I think. Especially for the copped-sensor cameras.

      I haven't tested on Canon, however reports are that it is good on Canon mounts as well. You will just have to factor in your crop factor for the zoom as it is an apsc sensor. (ie times the zoom range by 1.5)

      Hey there, unfortunately you will not find any lenses out there that have a focal range of 10-150mm. There are plenty of 18-300mm type focal length lenses. Unfortunately i don't think any of them are that great from an image and build quality perspective. Also these lenses will have a variable minimum aperture, like f4-6.3, so will not have the greatest depth of field or low light capabilities
