    When Viking first came out I hoped it would make an impact like Aventus did when it was originally released. With the name 'Viking' and the red bottle I thought it was going to be something different. For sure it's a nice fragrance, but for that price per 50ml it needs to 'wow' me. Great review.

      Creed have very little competition in the traditional gentleman's fragrance market. Most niche brands focus on unisex and fashion-foward scents. No one caters to the modern but traditionally-minded gentleman like Creed.

    Being born in 1967 I don't mind it smelling older or even dated. Indeed I lLOVE well made, classic fougeres! But for the INSANE prices Creed likes to charge it isn't hitting the mark. For that money I'd want real oakmoss in there and/or real ambergris...I'd want it to last all day into the evening. I do like some of the ingredients Creed has used and I like the concept of Viking but in the end it's too expensive for what you get. Excellent analysis as usual Aaron. I really enjoy your videos and your unique take on fragrances.

    There isn't anyone else on TH-cam breaking down and assessing fragrances like Aaron does. I acquired a sample of Viking and, as Aaron described, I couldn't spend that much on it. By the way I love how Aarons Oud layers with so many of my other fragrances. Right before I discovered this video just now I layered Notorious with Oud and it's magnificent! Later I'll try Aaron's Oud layered with Orange Sanguine by Atelier. I'm trying to find a fall, citrus oud combo! Thanks again Aaron. You killed it.

    IMO, fragrance is a lot like wine. Get something you like, but at a good price point. I received a couple samples of Viking Cologne a few months back and, TBH, I love the way it smells on me. I enjoy it and the people around me enjoy it as well. But that price, for 50ml, is a bit extravagant. You’re right. At a lower price it would be an enormous banger.

    I'm interested in trying this one out but to be honest, I wasn't that impressed with the original Viking and in my personal opinion, I don't think it's aptly named. Perhaps Creed just called it that because they wanted it to emphasize a classic, masculine smell but to me, when I think Viking, aromatic and fresh are not at all what I envision. When I think of a fragrance that personifies a viking warrior, I think of something with lots of smoke, leather, resins and incense with a sea salt and drift wood back drop. Hell, Tom Ford's Oud Minerale is, in my opinion, more of a viking scent than Creed Viking is.

    I happen to love Viking Cologne. It’s a fantastic, clean smelling fougére. It smells far better than original Viking which smells like cheap Christmas potpourri. Yes, it’s way overpriced but I found a 3.4 oz bottle for $225 which is still too much. I’d say the 3.4 should go for $175 tops but I still find it to be a beautiful scent. Yes, it’s a bit dated and older man smelling but it’s such a bright, pleasing fragrance that definitely deserves some credit.

    Creed is one of the very few brands that make high quality, traditional gentleman's fragrances. For that reason, to me their high prices will always be justified. Most brands follow trends, while Creed look after their specific clientele. Thank you Creed.

    • @iaido01
      @iaido01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Creed lied about their history and heritage, or have you ever seen a bottle before 1980 and they now make incredible low quality fragrances, made the juice from 120ml to 100ml bottles and they ask almost 80 euro more than in 2010😂 and you thank them! Green irish tweed is the only good creed. Rest are chanel fregrances with a tuxedo on

    • @Olyrous
      @Olyrous 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iaido01 With regard to price, the main problem the way I see it is that Creed don't have much competition. They are the equivalent of gentleman's classic tailoring house whereas the other brands just follow trends or are too much "out there" (avant-garde). The only formidable brands that consistently speak to and cater for Creed's customer are Acqua di Parma and Penhaligon's; unfortunately, they are not that well-known and have more limited ranges. On quality, I'm not sure how much of it is down to Creed cutting costs or having to comply with ever more restrictive IFRA regulations. So many old powerhouses have been diluted over the years, e.g. Frederic Malle's French Lover used to be a bomb and project like a monster, now it is a soft skin scent. With regard to price, I hope they become more reasonable; they are clearly positioning themselves at the top of the luxury market not unlike some Swiss watch brands. It is remarkable though how Creed keeps the vast majority of their fragrances available over decades and it's not discontinuing them.

    • @iaido01
      @iaido01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Olyrous that is the problem of creed! They think they don’t have competition. They made a few very basic fragrances and their milk cow aventus which went from 12+ longevity to max 3 hours. Creed used the regulations as excuse for their weak ass performance. Same for initio and PDM. Creed lied about their history so i wonder what they else lied about

    This release took the wind out of my sails much like Aventus Cologne did. Another cologne at these prices!? It just feels like a cash-grab due to new owners.
    I get the impression the current owners are more interested in making their money back no matter how much the artistic side of the perfumery suffers for it.
