    Scent is all pervading. We are being assailed constantly with smell. Making something that for even a short time uplifts the person who buys the fragrance and all the people who catch a whiff as they move through the world is an invaluable gift. If scent wasn’t important the phenomenon of memory being so tied to scent wouldn’t exist. It’s possible to smell something and for a brief second be with someone you have lost this is priceless. You should be recognized for the scents you create. I completely agree.

    I'm not a fan of Creed, just cuz I'm not a fan of freshies in general. But this is one I always wanted to try, and I've come to trust your assessments. And now I _really_ want to try it, I do dig some of the more vintage/mature scents. Problem: I'm going to have to gigolo myself out to afford it. If there are any rich old ladies out there (or old men, I'm open minded), hit me up.

    I finally got to smell this today with my Son for the first time. He has never smelled anything with the elegance of creeds until today. It’s always been my Lhomme,or Polo or Savauge elixir. He immediately fell in love with Aventus, but also liked the brand new Aventus absolute more. But I absolutely loved this but I agree with you, it’s very classy and masculine even, but for the money it’s just lacking something. Anyway I hope I get to smell ATH perfumes. I will never forget today though seeing my Son light up over fragrances like I always have, and recognizing that there are some very nice overpriced fragrances out there!!

    Perfumery is an art and artists sign their work so I 100% get what you say about the recognition as a perfumer.

    • @AaronTerenceHughes
      @AaronTerenceHughes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      100%. If I wasn't a perfumer id be a fashion designer, artist (like my mum) or do something with music. To not get the love back after months - year of development is an anticlimax. I do this to make people feel amazing and connected to something greater then themselves. To not have that is not why I do this. For me its always art first then money second.

    I've recently got my hands on a bottle of Spice and Wood, personally it's up there with my favourite Creed fragrances (GIT being No.1) I 100% agree on that the scent stays relatively the same throughout and isn't too complex, it's simple but very refined

    I enjoyed that, very interesting and informative as always!
    I got a decant of Spice & Wood recently. When I first sprayed it on, it immediately transported me in a way I've not quite been before: I could imagine sitting in a mysterious forest in twilight, and a beautiful, yet strange witch, or forest dweller sitting next to me. She opens her hand in front of me, and blows dust into my face... This is the smell of this mysterious dust. There's something mystical about this fragrance for me.

    Performance and projection from a Creed? Maybe 10 years ago!

    • @revoltzzz1178
      @revoltzzz1178 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you have a point in some cases of Creed fragrances, but in this case specifically, you are actually very very wrong.
      This stuff I sprayed on my wrist in an afternoon (for reference), and the way it just refused to stop radiating even through the night, was unprecedented for this dna (it being sort of a chypre and not a more traditionally long lasting vanilla-dominated scent , that is.)
      The fixatives, the clean musks and the woody compounds used here have got to be high quality, (even though cedar is relatively inexpensive) because the way they latched onto my skin without degrading (or falling apart into a nauseating pile of sh*t) after a couple of hours like most designer scents of a similar profile, was noteworthy (albeit expected for the price.)
      By far the most impressive aspect of this fragrance, however, was how discreet and organic the different stages of it were. Just when you thought it was gonna stay linear, it morphed into something else, evolving at least twice after I had originally applied it, and that was magnificent to experience.
      Could/should this have been a 100£ lower if it weren’t for Creed’s kind of absurd marketing; Absolutely.
      But that alone doesn’t warrant belittling scents like this one, just because they arent reinventing the wheel..
      Playing it safe and refining stuff that smells somewhat boring, is obviously what big brands are going for, and if Im paying this amount of money, I’d better be able to wear my perfume in more than one type of occasion, and without choking out or insulting every other human that stands close to me..
      There’s two perspectives on this matter of daring originality vs being massively palatable, is all I’m trying to say, and neither of them can be called wrong tbh.
      Sorry for the wall of text, just my two cents!

    You may never cure anything But you do create happiness, courage, strength, peace, love, joy, pain, pleasure, adventure and in some cases help create life.
    By your gift to create beautiful works of art, that can through sent allow us to experience those feelings. And those experiences that we have good or bad is the spark of life. Those moments give meaning to life. So keep creating.
    And by that, what you do is important.

    Unfortunately Creed has succumbed to what many other successful businesses have succumbed to over the years. They begin by putting out a wonderful product and thus building brand and name recognition. This in turn commands a very high price. However overtime, in order to increase their profits, they begin to dilute and change materials in their scents. So as a result they do not last as long or project as they once did. It's all about the money and unfortunately it has become that way for Creed. As evidenced by their 2020 aventus releases. Not as good, not as strong, and gone from the skin way too soon.

      So many natural ingredients in Creed fragrances. They get stronger once oxygen get in the bottle. My 2020 Aventus bottle get better over a couple months. If you are finding you are getting poor performance from a fragrance, try spraying it on you collar bones from about 6 inches away. Even fragrances that most reviews say only last a few hours, I’ll get a whole day out of, spray on a 7am and I’m still getting wafts of it at 7pm and that’s only 2-3 squirts total, it’s very rare I’ll ever do 4 because it’s too much.

      Hi Gabe. Yes we do. In a week or so we go independent from the dangerous goods forwarding service we use. But for the moment we ship via them. It takes a week to get to you from the moment it leaves the factory. :)

      For nearly £400 it should last 24 hours on the skin. £400 is so high in cost.

    This smells like something you would find at a tiny small boutique perfumery...very natural smelling in comparison to even other niche brands...

    Spice and Wood is not particularly spicy and barely all that woody. It's nice, but nice isn't enough at $575US

    It smells french because Olivier Creed is the perfumer.

    • @SPACEDOUT19
      @SPACEDOUT19 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Olivier Creed is definitely not the perfumer, if you know anything about the Creed any how much they lie about stuff 😂

    • @beel7567
      @beel7567 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SPACEDOUT19 what would they have to gain with lies? Plenty of fragrance houses that use external perfumers and execute it successfully. its not something a House would need to lie about in order to be successful.Tom Ford isn't the perfumer for his frarances and yet one of the top niche brands out there. they have nothing to gain by lieing about who the perfumers are. I believe Erwin and Olivier are the perfumers.
