To the list: generally agree with you on most of it. The Walking Barrage gets a bump for me as its the easiest to toss and destroy a heavy base or multiple groups of small targets. It does take some getting used to. Gas Strike is the only true S tier stratagem we have for the Illuminate, imo. If there was more consistancy with the Strafing run breaking the top shield horn on a harvester while also taking down the shield, I would also put it to S. But it's a SOLID A rank. I am curious to see how things go. Ironically, the "dumber" the equipment, the better for the Squids. It's a Stargate Replicator situation!
Walking barrage on the blitz missions is S tier. Run around until warp ships are all sitting in a row, toss barrage in general direction, go kill other things while barrage deletes encampment.
Because heavy armor penetration isnt really needed against the illuminate, in my opinion I think the rail cannon strike might be C tier. For other factions its a good "Fire & Forget" for those heavier targets while you're overwhelmed by chaff. Its inconsistent with harvesters so it doesn't really have that utility on top of weapons like the commando that can kill 4 of them on a shorter cooldown. I dont really think I'd have a reason to bring it.
Orbital laser is great and probably one of the best stragems when you can use it. Especially for clearing encampments. You can throw it at one and must of the time it will clear the camp. If there isn’t more than 3 ships. The problem is the cooldown is just too long, I feel like there are better stratagems once you factor in uses and cooldown
I've been bringing the laser the last few days and I always run out of charges with like +10 minutes left in the mission. Does it rack up the kills? Hell ya. But doesn't feel good to have it completely offline with so much mission left.
I feel like the squids were hand crafted specifically so that eagles would be less useful against them, I kinda fw it, especially coming back now after not playing since before democratic demolition before all of the other orbitals got buffed
What I find funny is this, and this is based on my play style, whether im fighting bugs or bots, I always bring Air Strike, 110 MM and Orbital Railcanon. I like having arsenals that can and will take out heavy targets while airstrike can either take out hordes or bases/hives. But those don't work too well with the Illuminate, forcing me to now start looking at other Stratagems, which has been fun. I do hope in the future we get more Illuminate variants tho, because 5 right now makes them feel ehh
I’m surprised you put gas S-tier or the same level as strafing runs, because the moment you’re fighting on two fronts (which happens a lot) it loses insanely hard against strafing run. Plus, it blocks off a route you could have escaped through. It can’t break shields without landing on top and it can’t really damage harvesters. It can't even seem to confuse harvesters either. Flying overseers will ignore the gas strike in medium to large open areas and it can’t kill anywhere near the same amount of enemies as the strafing run. Plus, the strafing run can be used far more times in any single fight or over the course of a match compared to the gas. It also struggles to kill overseers compared to the strafing run which will one shot them. If anything, it feels like the strafing run should be in a tier above the gas, because it just completely outclasses gas in every aspect. And it's strange to see someone say that if the strafing run could consistently break the shield horn of harvesters then it would be S-tier, because that's a throw and aim issue and most of the time it's just better to use a support weapon to do that instead, because the gas can't do that either.
I feel like a lot of it comes down to the rest of the kit like equipment and strat weapon, so taking out a harvester (or it's horn) is never an issue for me and I don't rely on strafe or gas to fill that role. Next time I'll mention the weapons I usually run with and why something like the gas and strafing run are top picks for me.
I've grown to really use the strafing run with grenade pistol for the outpost ships. It can clear the tesla towers that might be hiding out of site. I normally use strafing run and hmg emplacement for the harvesters and it seems to work decently.

I personally think the laser is too good at too many things. It is boring to me. But it was fun when I started, but the fact you can't really use it in creative ways makes it pretty boring the more you play. Maybe I am too hard on it. But I dont like the thing.
I hate myself for being that guy, but recoilless rifles don't actually shoot rockets most of the time. The way they are propelled is different from rocket propulsion and it's actually a really cool rabbit hole to dive into. Otherwise I wouldn't say anything ☝️🤓

I find it hard to disagree. Railcannon doesn't seem to have a place against the squids, but it has a soft spot in my heart from the good ol days.

The squids definitely make you work a bit harder for the usual eagles to do well.

Strafing has completely taken over my loadouts lately.. I always bring it.
Gas, Strafing and Machine gun turret, paired with a purifier and machine gun/arc thrower and I typically get over 750 kills easy

Smoke is good when you put it on a sentry thats under heavy enemy fire, its pretty solid for bots but I haven't tried on squids

It's close reeaaaaal close for me. I'm not saying it's not worthy but that long ass cooldown and limited uses keeps it out for me.
its good, basically guarantees to clear whatever encounter you're in no matter how screwed it is, but that cooldown is a killer.
