Fun Fact: There is a hidden advancement called 'Drastic Measures'. Which reads: Drastically slow down a Mechanical Crafter to procrastinate on proper infrastructure.
Some notes after watching this 1. You can chop multiple trees at once by connecting them at their bases with logs 2. There are settings in the config menu that allow bulk pressing and cutting, which drastically reduces the time needed 3. Crushing ore and washing it (blowing fan through water) is more efficient than simply smelting, as the resulting nuggets can simply be pressed into ingots via a basin and press 4. Fans do not increase processing speed with higher rotation, it only increases their air column's distance. Multiple fans blowing on the same block will process items faster. Having more items in a stack will increase processing time 5. Filters are very cheap and allow you to deny unprocessed ore from going through a brass funnel with the filter slotted in place. The ore will stay on the belt until it's processed, then the processed materials will go through the funnel into whatever receptical is there
And when you use fan on anything.... doing it with 16 items at once is the best way.... if you add more then 16 items it will take longer to process but 1-16 items? same as just 1 item. You can simply do it if you use brass tunel/funnel/chute and set stack size to 16
Hey @Shalz, I'm glad you liked my smelter (thanks for the shout out :) ), and even more glad that you didn't go for the easy solution of using a "can be smelted" brass filter as everyone in the comments seems to want you to do ^^. Brass Filtering comes with issues when trying to make stone and smooth stone, and also removes the fancyness of smelters in general. Keep going the extra mile, that's what makes Create enjoyable and entertaining. :) Some pointers tho, you said 32 sec to smelt a stack, but since this smelter is powered from both up and down, it should be half of that. Also, technically, only the first stack takes 16 seconds, the next ones will follow trough with only a couple seconds delay, since they are being cooked in parallel. Also, considering the speed of your arms, you need to make sure that the second arm starts picking items before the first arm finishes filling the table, or the next 9 stacks are going to be desync. Not sure about your final settings in the video, so maybe you are already fine.
TY SO MUCH FOR HAVING THE MODPACK IN THE DESCRIPTION!!! Most people wouldn't go to all the effort to add those small details, so i am very happy you did this THANK YOOOOOOU 😁😁👍👍
Same for Fabric, just in a more "you know what you're doing... right?" way It shows you every missing ID on your part, you can just use the namespaces as hints
Or maybe the fact that the quest book says "Shalz Create SMP" at the top implying that this was always meant to be an smp and he just rping. btw you can see it at 5:32 for anyone wondering where it says it.
Plus the fact that they're using Essential, which means Shalz has to specifically invite people to join his world. Idk why he said they "somehow got the mod list" but I guess it was a joke.
18:50 a super easy early game bulk smelter is to just have the items placed on a depot with a belt and funnel, then have the item pulled off the depot with another funnel that leads into a drawer locked with the resulting item. so the funnel won't pull the item until it can be placed in the locked drawer. (of course the other way is if you already have brass, you just filter the funnel into a chest or belt.) normally, a stack at a time is plenty fast, but for dozens of stacks, you could simply have multiple of these setups running in parallel. then it'll still be super faster even if they're all only powered by a single fan each.
I just found your channel, and subscribed immediately. I learned a lot about create and techniques that I never thought of when I first tried the mod. The pacing of the video is also really good (I like fast talk and fast action/no stretches of idletime) I hope you make this a series! Also: get well soon.
Some people already pointed it out, but washing your ore instead of smelting it gives you 1 nugget of ore more. Yes, you need to build an extra press to compress it into ingots, but hey, it's free metal. Stay safe, Shalz, but more importantly, get well soon! Edit: There's a way for mechanical arms not to output raw ores and that is by setting it's output to a funnel with a filter on it. The arm won't pick up any items that do not have a way off of the arm, so you can use that to circuumvent similar problems with your smelter in the future
Loved the video @Shalz! Can't wait for the next video man! Finally, We have a Create Mod Survival Series with Multiplayer Madness! I can't wait to see how this goes man! You know for that auto smelter design, you could put the belts in a loop and put a filter on the funnels so once the ores are done, it can loop to the designated chest
Wow Shalz, the Minecraft crew should hire ya to be making this kind of stuff for the vanilla game so it can have great options to break down trees quicker. Shalz there is a filter you can use to make the arm only grab items after they're smelted. Make the filter to the output only accept items that can't be smelted and the arm won't grab the ore until it's smelted into ingot form
This is not an elegant way of doing it, as far as I am concerned, because if an item as multiples smelting stages (aka cobble/stone/smooth) it is not going to work. You could argue that only stone has this, but stone is the most basic thing, and modpack can add other blocks with this kind of properties. Instead of having to work with a somewhat working smelter, and then have to deal with exceptions on the side, I prefer spending 10 extra minutes doing something able to do everything from the get go and never have to worry with it.
@@aRandomDudeDRS What do you mean it wouldn’t work? A filter would take the item the moment it is processed and allows for accounting for different processing speeds while the design in the video only accounts for 1 processing speed. @@dsur5547 A filter requires an item to not be smeltable anymore to be picked. When making stone from cobblestone, it doesn't work, because stone can still be smelted into smooth stone, it will then never be picked up.
@@aRandomDudeDRS that is not how filters work. A filter will accept items that match it and that has nothing to do with whether it can be smelted anymore or not
@@dsur5547 @dsur5547 That is how "brass" filters work. in the supersmelter you can make it so that the mechanical arm puts items directly into the funnel with a specific filter for what you want to smell, this way you don’t need a delay
If you want to clear a whole lot of trees really quickly, connect them all with wood at bottom block, and use the hand crank saw trick on the wood block at the lowest point. You can clear an entire forest that way.
You can possibly just apply a filter to the mechanical arms in the super smelter and if the filter is only ingots, it will only pick up ingots. Just make a filter, drag ingots from JEI in the filter, and if you need more space, put another filter into the filter and drag the remaining ingots into that second filter. I know, a lot to take in.
