I was at this gig, as an 18yr old. Looking at this vid for the 1st time, brings back a few memories....and the 'Columbian Marching powder' appears quite evident, too, lol!
THANK you youtube and Google, i really like this song since i was teenager. Everybody could enjoy with Rocketman in canal. Life of Elton, one of my favourite
I was there that night, dreadful!!! ... i have just found this & i remember that he sounded like he speeded up every song so he could get off home early & open up the big box of cocaine someone had got him for Crimbo!. Up to seeing him live i had always been a fan, soon changed!!
Understandable. I do kind of like this but at the same time it's incredibly sloppy as well. Actually, before seeing your comment, I did wonder how the audience would have felt being there at such a crappy show and you answered it. I've seen an Elton concert where he clearly didn't want to be there and he was an utter prick. Subsequent times were to go with people. Shows like those really don't make it gratifying to see him.
Ever since I was a young boy, I've played the silver ball. From Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all. But I ain't seen nothing like him In any amusement hall That deaf dumb and blind kid Sure plays a mean pin ball! He stands like a statue, Becomes part of the machine. Feeling all the bumpers Always playing clean. He plays by intuition, The digit counters fall. That deaf dumb and blind kid Sure plays a mean pin ball! he's literally almost playing 4 notes a second wow he was coked up this is easily twice as fast as played on the record
Bob Votava just wait til you see Crocodile Rock from this show. It's almost freaky how fast the tempo is on it.
Crack is one hellva drug, lol.
He's actually playing around 10 notes a second
@@mtthwskdmr2 Coke-i-dile Rock!
He stops playing to tap the cocaine itch out of his nose and then without looking puts his hands back in exactly the right position. A legend.
wait what's the time stamp
SC4R 3:24
@@mccstory thx
SC4R Also 2:24
He plays by intuition
Elton’s speed metal version. Poor Nigel. I can’t play any faster lol!
He might have been coked up but damn what a performance !
Put it on x2 speed to increase Elton's concaine levels
Lmao
Omg lmao

I did nothing but watch it, but I'm exhauted.
Crazy Piano Master. Nothing at all to say. He is Brilliant
Guys at The guitars rock it ! I couldn’t be on rythm too fast my god ! 😭
Davey Johnstone is a legend
I think he needs to play the song a little faster.
kerpital man that’s funny. I’m exhausted after watching the video 🤪
Put it at 2x speed!
I had to check if my YT settings where set to 2x the speed! LMFAO!
Thats what happens if you take cocaine and speed before going on stage
Try it in 0.75 it's similar to the right speed
Amazing performance
Best live version of PB. Elton and the band were really firing on all cylinders that night. Amazing!
Went to the Hard Rock Cafe in time square and they had his outfit from this concert there!
Elton in the peak of his coke addiction years
Peak of being this high on stage. Its insane. His addiction grew worse up until 1990. Must have have got some really pure stuff back in 1982 lol.
Jordan I think it just started affecting him differently the longer he took it.
@@jordan6988 for real? thought that after throat surgery Elton had turned down to drugs
THANK you youtube and Google, i really like this song since i was teenager. Everybody could enjoy with Rocketman in canal. Life of Elton, one of my favourite
Bet that piano had the time of its life that night. Damn is he fast....
Play at .75 to bring Sir Elton down from the coke.
😂😂
Wow! It does and all
A song from one of the greatest musical movies of all time
Is this what the science geeks mean by time dilation? Elton was obviously in a time warp.
I was there that night, dreadful!!! ... i have just found this & i remember that he sounded like he speeded up every song so he could get off home early & open up the big box of cocaine someone had got him for Crimbo!. Up to seeing him live i had always been a fan, soon changed!!

Just a little faster and we finally could discover how WARP drive works
It's one with the machine ❣️
I'm here for "Rocketman" (and I like it).
All I can say is wow I couldn't keep up lol
fabulous
but the question is, did the rest of the band need coke to keep up with Elton?
😂🤣they even looked at him once like tf
Lol 0.75x Speed is the original speed of the song, this version is soooo fast.
Holy crap! There really is a speed limit on this song!
dee’s poor fingers....
At 0:08 he says what I think is "Percy for Scotland" but I think it sounds like something else...;)
Now that was energetic. 👍👍👍👍
Dang................"Let's do an ounce of some really good coke and chase it with a shot or 5 of gasoline................."
Too frickin' fast. He was cranked up on coke or whatever.
hahah he actually was tho😂😂😂
Appart of playing too fast...
Two things...
1) Dee Murray´s bass line
2) The chemist between Davey and Dee playing...
Some good gear that night Elton ?
Fully charged
Sacré TALENT

He'd have a field day in Columbia! :P
Someone had some coke before they played.
I might be wrong but lip reading Davey at 2:39 looks like he's saying "so fast" or "too fast".
His poor band 🤣🤣🤣🤣 on the struggle bus to keep up lol
Legit thought it was at 2x speed
What would you get if you put Flea on the bass for this song?
I think the tempo should be a little faster.
Anyone know what he says at the beginning of the video?
+Matthew Skidmore This is for pussy in Scotland, i think its a friend, before that he welcomes tv viewers.
I feel bad for the band having to keep up with Elton's ridiculous speed. Rick James was right Cocaine's a helluva drug lol.
How did the band keep up were they high as well or had to keep
Man why is this tempo so slow it sounds like 10 bpm. Maybe he should try to speed it up.
That's ridiculous!
Have to wonder what was in that glass at the start there...
Man, he coked up! He playing like he's in a race with time! HAHA
this performance was sponsored by cocaine
So i’m curious because it’s awesome ! Does cocaine deplicate skills or what ?!

Can anyone confirm 100%, is that Dee Murray on Bass, & Davey Johnstone on Guitar?
I can't make out the Drummer.
Yes you got it right. Nigel Olsson is the drummer.
play it on x2 speed and you will have a stroke
Ever wonder why his concert pianos were almost always white in the 80's?
he is creasy :))) 4:06
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
wtf why so fast? was he in a hurry to leave?.it fucks the whole tune up
jeremy shtinkly Under the influence of drugs, probably coke, or he really had to pee. ;D
DarkGates8 at least he's having fun
@@josephcolon6150 I suppose fun is the word to use here lol
Well, maybe I should invest in some good white powder to finally learn how to play the fucking piano
Yeah this video has been sped up. Silly stuff.
I’m afraid this was the speed he went at in those days.
If this video was sped up the audio would be distorted.
Having watched another video of the same time.......yup, just on coke. Silly time, silly tempo.
Hahah hilarious , you were like “video totally sped up” then “ok , my bad , just coke” 😭
Eltons hands are to fast
Super-fast tempo courtesy of a sugar bowl full of cocaine.
Way too fast. Coke boy.
Jajaja su banda no le puede seguir el ritmo
Slower
