this really is my favorite video. I dont play table top games, but this really lets you think like a commander. Rich really made you feel it, the first move the squad....knowing they couldnt handle a tank....let it roll right by.
Played this game many times and always an excellent time. Our group used to play Bolt Action but this system seams so much more realistic to what a commander goes through with the choices that are available.. Fantastic Rich👍
Finally! Been missing Richard and the TFL and I know there is the What A Tank Let´s play waiting to be uploaded as well. My painting session this evening will surely be amazing with this in the background:)
never played a TFL game but i like how he narrates the scenario right from the start in military terms..ie his troops are reluctant due perhaps to a bad experience in area before rather than how sometimes people talk in a manner that sounds very gamey...and of course plenty of chains
Love these TFL videos and just bought CoC...bring on the Western Desert. Also PLEASE can we have a vid for 'I Ain't Been Shot Mum'? I need to decide whether to go 15mm (with an eye on getting IABSM as well) or 28mm. Also would love to see a vid for 'Charlie Don't Surf'.
I tried CoC once and was a bit confused (I didn't have a rulebook and relied on the guidance of others) but I've been playing and enjoying Sharp Practice v2 a fair bit and I've realised after watching this that they share many similarities and will give CoC another go soon. Great video.
Great to see Richard of TFL again! Good game showing the rules of chain of command. I have the rules and must play with them. Also really looking forward to the What a Tanker game!
These videos are so helpful. Thanks guys. Quick question, at around the 9:00 mark all of the US patrol markers are locked down but one of the German markers continues to move. Shouldn't the patrol phase have ended as soon as all of the US markers were locked down?
8:46 at this point isnt he moving his patrol marker outside of 12 inches of another friendly patrol marker? So techincally a illiegal move but also it kinda bites him in the butt because his deployment for that marker is sooooo small
Great game guys! Just two questions. One, when the M1 Garands re-roll 1s? Second, when an HE round hits a building and rolls three 6s (like the Panther rolled), isn't the building going to collapse at the end of the turn? Thanks. =)
Only just been watching CoC on TH-cam, been playing for a little under a year and this and other TFL CoC videos are giving me much more insight into the game, excellent. And great having explanations throughout. Where is dice tower from?
I'm so hyped for this game. Seems very good! Can you tell me what figures you use - I've searched the net, and can't seem to find anything that resembles them...
Looked like good fun. Sure would have been nice if you could have put up on the screen what you can 'spend' command dice for. Text over the screen for the win!
Both semi-automatic rifles and the BAR in this game do reroll ones. it might not seem like a lot, but it adds up for your basic troops over the entire game.
Much prefer red markers to show shock. As Rich mentions, it's just so much better visually, not just for the camera. Also a lot less faffing than mini dice. I use red beads purloined from my daughter's DIY toy necklace kit.
So, im not sure if im missing something, but when it says rifleman, how do you distinguish if german infantry have bolt actions or semi auto? is it just what the models have?
You mean the dice tower where the dice are constantly missing the narrow chute, or even when trying to roll directly into the tray? There's much better out there.
Check out the Chain of Command Facebook group also check out Too Fat Lardies website. The main rule book has all you need to start including some late war lists. Hope that helps.
I’ve watched three videos of Chain of Command, two of which was actual play. I have yet to make it to the point where shooting starts. It’s the confusing Patrol “mini-game” and crossing of measuring tapes to determine drop-off points. Then it’s a complicated process of deciding how, what and where to deploy units. I sure hope the rule book explains this process better. That Patrol phase makes little sense to me.
Yes. Too Fat Lardies don't make miniatures. You use what you like. There are many companies out there that make 28mm miniatures that are compatible with each other - Warlord (Bolt Action), Artizan, Crusader, Perry (though they can be a little small). If you want to play in 15mm, there are of course LOTS available thanks to Battlefront.
I am very happy you are showing "Lets Play" videos of Too Fat Lardies games. My wallet will not like it. I am definitely going to get Sharpe's Practice and Chain of Command. both these games look amazing and a lot of Fun.
These are my favorites. Not much on fantasy but enjoy all of your content. Would like to see some real competition though . Maybe a league or tournaments with something at stake $$$$$ ? MajorLeagueGaming ??
the big marketed games all copy warhammer with their boring army lists and predictable tournament gameplay. this is for more of a wargamer that likes a story and fun gameplay. also flames of war pretty much sucks
@@HistoricalConflict There is also the fact that this ruleset was written with a far greater emphasis on historical tactics. Speaking as an ex-infantryman, this ruleset is as close to 'real' as any that I have found.
Not sure why this is a problem, you don't have to buy it, and it adds another interesting take on WW2 skirmish rules for those of us who don't enjoy the bigger games.
In my humble opinion the battle reports with Richard are among the best wargaming content on youtube. This stuff is highly underrated :) Thanks!
I agree, this is some of the best game coverage around, and Richard is the veritable John Cleese of historical wargaming.
Rich is so captivating with his narrative, and comes over as the perfect tabletop sportsman
instablaster.
The dice rolls are like trying to decipher tea leaves
this really is my favorite video. I dont play table top games, but this really lets you think like a commander. Rich really made you feel it, the first move the squad....knowing they couldnt handle a tank....let it roll right by.
Great narrative, explanations and background context for the actions taken. This feels like a VERY fun game. Thx!!
I am always impressed by the TFL game systems.
Played this game many times and always an excellent time. Our group used to play Bolt Action but this system seams so much more realistic to what a commander goes through with the choices that are available.. Fantastic Rich👍
Great game, but next time it might help Rich if he re-rolled the one for his GIs ;). Also another vote for a IABSM video.

Moar Rich! I love this guy and TFL, so glad to see him back

Great video, great game. Love playing Chain of Command. Thanks John and Rich
Great game. COC always makes for an interesting game. Can't wait for "What a Tanker" battle report.
Wow, this system is what I was looking for in a ww2 war game it's very realistic in a sense. I'm amazed
I tried CoC once and was a bit confused (I didn't have a rulebook and relied on the guidance of others) but I've been playing and enjoying Sharp Practice v2 a fair bit and I've realised after watching this that they share many similarities and will give CoC another go soon. Great video.
The last patrol marker placed by Richard looks to have been more than 12” from any of his other patrol markers. Was that a legal placement?
My first time watching Chain of Command. Well done video, guys!
Great to see Richard of TFL again! Good game showing the rules of chain of command. I have the rules and must play with them. Also really looking forward to the What a Tanker game!
I didn't even start the video. I just already know it's going to be good fun! cheers guys!
These are fantastic, really helps me to comprehend the rules.
These videos are so helpful. Thanks guys. Quick question, at around the 9:00 mark all of the US patrol markers are locked down but one of the German markers continues to move. Shouldn't the patrol phase have ended as soon as all of the US markers were locked down?
Before i even start the video, thank you for another battle report of this.
I love this game and so much wanted to see more 👍
Now onto the vid
8:46 at this point isnt he moving his patrol marker outside of 12 inches of another friendly patrol marker? So techincally a illiegal move but also it kinda bites him in the butt because his deployment for that marker is sooooo small
Really like how many of these you’ve done with Rich. Helps my understanding of the rules.
Most enjoyable!!! Also informative.

And the BARs. Surely they reroll on 1s?
The US player forgot to reroll his 1
Only just been watching CoC on TH-cam, been playing for a little under a year and this and other TFL CoC videos are giving me much more insight into the game, excellent. And great having explanations throughout.
Where is dice tower from?
TooFatLardies had them for sale on their website.
Please make one for IABSM too.
Yes, IABSM please! Would love to see how it works.
Another vote for IABSM, just ordered the rules
Another vote
yes please
Ioannis Pavlidis ))
Is the tank really able to fire a shot inches over the heads of friendlies?
I'm so hyped for this game. Seems very good!
Can you tell me what figures you use - I've searched the net, and can't seem to find anything that resembles them...
On a roll of 1, I didn’t think the PzShk team could deploy and fire. I only thought they could deploy. What am I missing?
Thanks for the amazing video. Is the garage model DIY?
Looked like good fun. Sure would have been nice if you could have put up on the screen what you can 'spend' command dice for. Text over the screen for the win!
Shouldn't the US troops be re-rolling 1's?
Both semi-automatic rifles and the BAR in this game do reroll ones. it might not seem like a lot, but it adds up for your basic troops over the entire game.
Would a tank not be more visible than infantry? You can normally hear a tank coming down the road
Too many dice ! you've got a quad 50 cal so that's 40 d6 !
Looks like a great game
in the land of demos, rich is king
Much prefer red markers to show shock. As Rich mentions, it's just so much better visually, not just for the camera. Also a lot less faffing than mini dice. I use red beads purloined from my daughter's DIY toy necklace kit.
Let's hope she doesn't come back to exact revenge :O
In the assault, German leader was not level 3, since he was wounded already.
I think Rich needs to bring his "A" game against these lads!
So, im not sure if im missing something, but when it says rifleman, how do you distinguish if german infantry have bolt actions or semi auto? is it just what the models have?
Depending on the list you're using
This looks like a great game. I'm not really into WW2 wargames, but i was wondering if the system could be used for modern/sci fi?
Last i knew a moderns version was in the works.
Awesome game
Awesome. Need to base my 15mm for CoC and have my 8yr old son play. He likes all the warming that I do 😁😁😁😁
Where is that nice dice tower from? I really like it! :)
You mean the dice tower where the dice are constantly missing the narrow chute, or even when trying to roll directly into the tray? There's much better out there.
For example? Because I dont want one that is too clumsy and this one seems fairly compact, especially when folded up.
Love videos with richard.
Shouldn't that building have become unstable after the Panther HE shot?
What size table are you playing on?
I had never even known this game existed... What steps does one take to get involved in this game, is there a community?
Check out the Chain of Command Facebook group also check out Too Fat Lardies website. The main rule book has all you need to start including some late war lists. Hope that helps.

Would you recommend this as a beginner game
Where is that dice tower from?!
Hi guys, does anyone know what sort of minis they were using? Bolt action? Correct me but chain of command is just plain rules right?
Yes. Too Fat Lardies don't make miniatures. You use what you like. When is the what a tanker upload. Great vid guys
Bring back the Dave for WW2 games.
does 15mm work for this game?
MrAmac97 Absolutely. We only play this game at 15mm at our club. It places greater emphasis on the command and manouvreability.
These are my favorites. Not much on fantasy but enjoy all of your content. Would like to see some real competition though . Maybe a league or tournaments with something at stake $$$$$ ? MajorLeagueGaming ??
I’m not sure it offers enough over bolt action or flames of war, seems like they’re trying to find success in an over saturated market
I play both Flames & Bolt Action, or played Bolt Action rather. This replaced that for me. Flames is.. in a rough spot now with rules confusion
the big marketed games all copy warhammer with their boring army lists and predictable tournament gameplay. this is for more of a wargamer that likes a story and fun gameplay. also flames of war pretty much sucks
doesnt really look anything like FOW..completely different level at section level. Never played but looks interesting
@@HistoricalConflict There is also the fact that this ruleset was written with a far greater emphasis on historical tactics.

Like bolt action better
because we needed another WW2 game...
Not sure why this is a problem, you don't have to buy it, and it adds another interesting take on WW2 skirmish rules for those of us who don't enjoy the bigger games.
Who needs a gourmet burger shop when we already have macdonalds?
