I think we shouldn't look at discipline as a sacrifice. Discipline truly means prioritizing what's important over what's not.😌

I loved how between 3:15-4:06 mentioned something that we, as a society, have normalized way too much: dismissing hard work as natural ability. The video creator goes on to mention that when he saw his own hard work paying off, people thought that his motivation was natural and he was naturally gifted with motivation. I see myself doing this a lot when I think I can’t achieve something because I’m not “naturally smart enough”, not “naturally Athletic”, or not “naturally gifted” for it and I think that’s so discouraging because we can achieve anything through hard work, consistency, hope, patience, and faith.

Quoting part of what the man said in the video.... “that nagging weightness that’s pulling you down”could be any number of things... let’s say you want to be a pilot but yet they require that you have perfect vision before you can qualify for the position but some vitamin deficiency in your diet causes a vision problem...... that vitamin deficiency is the culprit that is weighing you down... you must learn to overcome that by taking in that particular vitamin ...let’s say that vitamin is found only in a particular vegetable that you very much cannot eat, anytime you even consider eating it in your mind you feel as if you would vomit....that is a weight that must be laid aside, you must get past that and “Force” yourself to eat that vegetable if you are to ever become a pilot....

I feel like I need a rival to accomplish my goals, and I lose my will to improve when I don’t have one. Even now, I have issues fighting for my own cause. Deep down, doing things alone terrifies me, and after realizing that I need a rival, it worries me even more.
Without my friend at work, I lame out. Without an exercise partner, I give up trying. I tell myself I can be the leader, but I have to fight the uncertainty of being alone.

But i do not have the adventure and comradery i need in life and i do not know how to get such things. Especially in a world like this that is made to shun such things and destroy the principles of institutions and organizations that offer these traits. In other words. God damn it I am lonely and bored and no one seems to be able to help.

Need to change this title to "conversation about Jocko Disciplined past turned into a motivational speech" which defeats the whole purpose of "how to" guide. We're trying to form a building here, a furniture, a "how to" should be about pratical advice not abstract willpower.
Tactics and models to make actions clear and easier the same way builders approach their job. I think most of the times is not a lack of will but proper planning, like cooking, even with determination is so complex it crushes our spirit.
