Freedom and Security makes you question everything, but this just makes you feel uncomfortable in the worst way possible. The off key sounds really add the whole distortion feeling of having your ability to think be taken away from you.
*SPOILERS for the original* *Persona 5 and Persona 5 Strikers* When you think about it, Persona 5's ultimate antagonist was frighteningly proven right in the end due to what happens in Persona 5 Strikers. That original antagonist and his ideologies being reborn in Strikers are proof of that. (Persona 5 Royal's added story proves this too, but that’s a different discussion.) The culmination of Persona 5's entire storyline (even with the addition of Royal's 3rd-semester epilogue) was finally delving into the depths of the general public's Palace that had been out of reach for the entire game up until that point. When the Phantom Thieves finally arrived at Mementos' Depths they were met with a distortion taking the form of a Prison of Sloth and a Treasure (going by the Holy Grail) that was given life through the people's intense desire to be controlled. All of the masses craved order, control, and the freedom not to think so much that the Holy Grail became a God of Control to fulfill everyone's ultimate wish. This god, going by Yaldabaoth, became so powerful that he set all of the events in Persona 5 in motion and acted as the story's puppeteer so he could prove that humanity truly wanted to be controlled and nearly completely fused the real world with Mementos if it weren't for the Phantom Thieves that he ironically helped create. The Phantom Thieves went up against what most of the world truly wanted and wished for. Even if Yaldabaoth was seen as malevolent, the reason he was that way to begin with is because that's how humanity wanted and envisioned a ruler deep down: one that feels like they have no errors in judgement and exercise absolute authority. Yaldabaoth was the way he was because humanity is the way it is. Even if you, me, and the Phantom Thieves can look at Yaldabaoth's world and say how wrong it is, deep down a part of us secretly wants order and control like that. That's what makes Yaldabaoth's point compelling... because we all know we agree with him to some extent deep down. Even if the Phantom Thieves (and the player) argue freedom is ultimately better than security, they were going up against what humanity wished for nonetheless. Even if the god was defeated by his own creators (humanity) and his creations (the Phantom Thieves), deep down Yaldabaoth's point wasn't entirely wrong. In fact, his point would ultimately be proven if humanity were ever to relinquish freedom by allowing someone or something else to control them once again... Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers both present different continuations of Yaldabaoth's argument, but, in the end, both games' stories arrive at the same destination of the God of Control not being totally inaccurate. And what I love about Royal's added story and Strikers' story is that the two games never outright say "Yaldabaoth was sort of right to some extent all along." It's up to the player to realize and piece together the similarities (though Lavensa does point out how similar Strikers' endgame events are to the previous year's events). Despite the Phantom Thieves' hope and belief that the world was above what Yaldabaoth believed it to be, the masses ended up relinquishing their freedom to make decisions in favor of life becoming easier and their happiness being preserved. Royal with [REDACTED] and Strikers with EMMA. Half a year after the Phantom Thieves' ideology won out against the general public's/Yaldabaoth's, the world has turned to an AI to solve its problems. EMMA obviously doesn't exist in our world, but it's clear to see how it is a stand-in for our own technology and services we use (such as something like Google). The world of Persona 5 wanted EMMA to give them all of the answers and wanted it to be there for them when they were lost and needed guidance. The public wanted EMMA to do the thinking for them and as EMMA became more widespread thanks to Madicce, more and more of society started to rely on something else thinking and making decisions for them once again. And then once it was taught cognitive psience, EMMA was finally able to fulfill its prime directive: to fulfill humanity's ultimate desire. Similar to how Yaldabaoth was brought into existence to fulfill humanity's ultimate desire, EMMA was created to help the world attain its wishes and help it be happy. Which, unfortunately, is still to not make decisions. Despite the Phantom Thieves fight to restore humanity's freedom last year, the public once again gives absolute power to something which morphs into a being that is able to fulfill their desire for control. EMMA, just like the Holy Grail, is given power through the general public and transforms into a symbol that the world sees as holy: the Ark of Covenant. It's no coincidence that EMMA turns into another symbol of divinity and that the Jail of the Abyss looks like Mementos 2.0 (fitting for an AI). Each Monarch has their Jail appear a certain way to reflect how they feel and what they desire. Why is it that EMMA's Jail looks like the Prison of Sloth with the addition of some technological aesthetics? Well, it's because that's what humanity's desire for control incarnate was the first time (with the addition of an AI being in control this time, hence the "2.0" descriptor being apt). The Jail is the way it is because that's the way the public wants it to be, just like in the original Persona 5. If the public wants it, EMMA will make it a reality for them. The music and setting for this Mementos-esque Jail make me unnerved simply because of what it represents: the rebirth of something the Phantom Thieves, and the player potentially, thought they were better than and fought against (almost disappearing from existence in the process)... only for it to be reborn anew. It's the idea that the entirety of what Persona 5 was building up towards was never truly gone completely so long as people remain slothful. This Jail's music ("Jail in Abyss") feels just as eerie, droning, and uncomfortable as the Mementos Depths' original theme: "Freedom and Security." Only this time the Jail of the Abyss' theme has a more "technological" feel to reflect EMMA's role in this "reborn Mementos" of sorts. The Phantom Thieves recognize the Jail's startling similarities to Mementos' Depths and even comment how familiar them staring down the Ark of the Covenant was to them encountering the Holy Grail last year. This all comes to a head when EMMA/the Ark of the Covenant gets enough power from the public to transform into a god (just like what happened with the Holy Grail). The striking similarities and resemblances are... unnerving to say the least. Could the God of Control be back? Did he somehow plan the creation of EMMA months after his demise in some convoluted way typical of lazy sequels that bring back villains in an unnatural way? ...luckily, the answer is no. The Phantom Thieves truly killed the God of Control, the plot in Strikers wasn't his doing. This time the god born from the masses is named the "Demiurge." ...in case you didn't know, in Abrahamic Mythology and Gnostic Mythology another name for the Demiurge is, well... Yaldabaoth. "Could this be the second coming of the evil that rent me asunder? That locked away even my master?" - Lavensa, Persona 5 Strikers The Phantom Thieves truly killed Yaldabaoth, but not the idea of him. Just like how Mementos' Depths were reborn as the Jail of the Abyss, how the Qlipoth World was reborn as the Tree of Knowledge, and the concept of the Holy Grail was reborn as the Ark of the Covenant, Yaldabaoth was reborn in a sense as well once EMMA was given enough power from humanity to turn into the Demiurge. Even if he was defeated, the world still wanted a being like him to control them once more, which ended up leading to his resurrection and rebirth of sorts. I love villains that have a long-term impact even after they're gone (kind of like Shido inadvertently inspiring Owada to follow in his footsteps), but what I don't like is when they're recycled in an unnatural or lazy way. Strikers, however, brings back and builds upon Yaldabaoth's plan in a way that falls in line with the logic already established in the previous game. It isn't just the same old Yaldabaoth returning all according to plan nor is it simply recycling ideas. This wasn't Yaldabaoth's plan, he just ended up being proven right in the end with his second coming of sorts. It's up to more people other than Phantom Thieves to prevent Yaldabaoth from being reborn once more by wanting to live for themselves even when life gets tough. Let’s hope Yaldaboath or any sort of “reborn” version stays gone for good this time after Strikers.
Awesome explaintion 👍♥️ u said exactly what I thought, but u forgot something very important, that Emma is not born from the masses all together she's not born from the collective unconscious which makes her the first villain in the series not born of the collective unconscious, she's created by ichinose her and Sophia just for ichinose to learn about the human heart that the whole point of the endgame, ichinose gave Sophia and Emma prime directive, for Sophia be humanity's companion, and while for Emma grant humanity's ultimate desire but because Sophia was found by us she learned about the heart while Emma because she walked the path alone she goes out of control, Emma only given the power of God of control from learning congintive PSI and from humanity's desire, and also Emma true wish is to change everyone's heart she wanted to save people just like the phantom Thieves as it mention that at the end of the game by sophia, so what they are doing here is that they wanted to put the phantom Thieves against a villian who is doing exactly like them, but in a very Extreme way instead of changing people's hearts like what the phantom Thieves doing, Emma is sollowing there desires for herself and leave them without anything like dolls, there is no rebirth here like u said she simply just got this power since she's just an ordinary app, so I don't think there is recycled ideas here all of what Emma is doing is connected to ichinose which she's such an interesting character and I love her, the only thing that is similar is the setting of the abyss jail but that what u said is because that what humanity wanted it to looks like

Think about it: Her looks are similar to Yaldabaoth, the fake god, both try to use shiny colors because we unconsciously (even consciously) give to them more value, an higher meaning, those 2 can be considered the same, and both strived to look as beautiful as gods, but failed miserably with those red shiny but also gross veins that show their real nature. @@vaguelyhumanoid7419 The symbolism is really good in that regard, the public stopped worshiping the holy grail and took back it's freedom only to immediately give up and relinquish said freedom to the arc of the covenant, all of which happened in the same depths/abyss of the collective unconscious
@@bgbss680 didn't it get stolen from them this this time instead?
the whole game shows peoples shadows getting they're desires stolen after stumbling into the jails through emma, at this point in the game emma had resurfaced on peoples phones after the servers were shut down(you even overhear a couple talking about it only for them stop talking all together moments after, implying they're desires have been stolen)
@@vaguelyhumanoid7419 u Don't have to talk to me like that I have played p5 and p5R and p5S for over 1000 hours in all games put together I'm a huge fan of p5, hell I played both p5R and p5S when they came out in Japan so I played p5S in February 2020 I pre ordered it there
Mementos' Depths and the Zero Virus.
Oh, hi place that's totally not mementos
"if mementos depths is so good, then why isn't there a mementos depts 2?"
jail of the abyss:
Ok, I don't usually like songs sped up... but this one on 2x gives off such a funky vibe!
Ahh shit here we go again, mementos is that you?
Idk what's better Abyss theme in FE3H or this
The shackled wolves slaps hard
these comments have me scared... i just finished alice’s jail and hope to beat this game soon but i haven’t gotten spoiled just teased
update i’m about to start the jail right now
Soo how is it?
@@Choerrykiss ???
this is still the hardest banger in p5s
Second arrival: Envy
Music by a genius.
Phantom thieves: Ohh shit here we go again
As good as this song is I would’ve loved a remix of “freedom and security”
Pure Intimidation.
That Geometry Dash vibe tho....
kinda wish yaldabaoth made a comeback for this one, maybe this time he'd feel less rushed, idk. still enjoyed how it turned out anyway
Demiurge is another name for Yaldabaoth
@@TwistedLullabies leave him some people are that kinda dumb 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@john_7000 ???
Yaldabaoth wanted to control people because he thought they were stupid. EMMA wanted to control them because she thought she was fullfilling their wish. Thematically, it wouldn't work to have the same god be the villain.
@@snakeslife-uroborodjinn790 the Demiurge used nice words to say that they are stupid, since she is another incarnation of Yaldabaoth (so also another incarnation of Nyarlatothep) she shares the same ideals as Yaldabaoth in the end, the only difference is that she tricks you with nice words.
Think about it:
Her looks are similar to Yaldabaoth, the fake god, both try to use shiny colors because we unconsciously (even consciously) give to them more value, an higher meaning, those 2 can be considered the same, and both strived to look as beautiful as gods, but failed miserably with those red shiny but also gross veins that show their real nature.
The Demiurge is literally saying "I'm fulfilling their wishes because they are so stupid that will blindly follow me, they are so stupid to the point that they always need an app to chose for them, because they don't have the will power to choose for themselves"
How do I always get recommended the soundtracks for the most recent stuff that I did in-game? I'm done Strikers now, so this was one of the most recent OST I heard in-game. Before, this never came up.
reminds me of SMT IV
Comment section freaking out on this song being disturbing while I'm out here jamming to this fucking banger
when i heard this for the first time and even now it feels familiar as if ive heard it or something like this before it was made, does anyone else feel the same way
Having played through the length of base persona 5 when royal came out on PC last year, this definitely felt eerily familiar to Mementos Depths, and the music from there, Freedom and Security
I was legit scared of going deeper into the jail. This was scarier than the depths of mementos
Gives me Pokemon Mystery Dungeon vibes
I have no idea what the context for this song is but it slaps harder than anything in the original p5
Does it slap harder than domestic violence though? That is the ultimate reward.
Mabye it's because shoji meguro dident compose for this game?
@@leschnozzberry Akira approves
@@frisolaxod3835 laughs in father murder
@@leschnozzberry the fact that there's a song called Child Abuse in P1💀
On 0.75x speed, it sounds like a synthetic version of freedom and security.
Mementos Prime
@Gigio Extremo i think
@@DmmyV Nope, Metroid Prime
Persona 2 reference spotted
Considering Joker shows up in the Abyss of Time in P3R, what's to say that both Abyss are one in the same.
Also consider what Fuuka says about Erebus:
"It isn't a shadow... it's a collection of the worst traits of all of humanity"
Erebus in this case will never leave, even if it takes the form if Yaldebaoth or Demiurge.

This kind of reminds me of Splatoon lol
Ha same I thought I was the only one who thought of that 😂
As a splatoon player, me too. But I realized that part is a reference to “I’ll face myself”, the boss theme in persona 4
why do i hear yoshi noises at the drop?
i knew something was off when i ended up in yokohama and it had a title in the transition
Freedom and Security/Jail of Abyss be a whole mood
The Abyss is literally an AI recreation of Mementos holy fuck
I love it *^*💕
freedom and security another version
mash this up with Jade Cargill's theme song and bam!
trap in mementos
I should've brought more top ramen into this dungeon i was not ready
hehehehehe what if i told you i was on hard and only had like 2 sp items tops and had the same amount of sp items
Its just sophia shop theme in autotune
Lava Mountain?
When I first played the game, I joked to my friends that this sounded like a [FREE] Type beat off of soundcloud.
Good song but man did this really showcased that the fianle was basically gonna end the same, in universe reason or not.
I don’t really consider that a bad thing
This shall be the theme for Meta. Hahaha
_Why does nobody want change?_
Cave Story vibes
Persona in da hood
This song sounds kind of fan made, its weird
It's like they wanted to make everything about this jail suck ass, this sounds like a soundcloud song
