This is just Singularity but you already know what happened and everything is just 2x more depressing. Even some of the PT's dialogue just seemed depressing to me this entire jail. STORY SPOILERS! This jail reminded me of the True Lab in undertale, you know experimental shadows and the voice memos left by the director and etc... so depressing
The most impactful part for me in this jail was the new guard shadow. Constantly dying and reforming, severely disfigured compared to the maya;s in p3. Brainless constructions who’s only attacks are headbutts and self-destruction, like if they had been torn asunder and forcefully formed that way into weapons. And the worse, the broken mask, it’s the only being in the entire series that stay intact with a broken mask. the mask being a representative of its individuality, but also rulers state
i agree, the shadows in this jail really adds to the atmosphere. black blobs that randomly disappear and resurface like ghosts, the black ooze and legion demons pretty much just scream "inhumane experiments"
I didn't get that was supposed to be them being unable to die, I thought the spawning was just being weird. A way to solidify that more, in my opinion, is to have them occasionally groan out "Kill...me..." or something else along the lines of begging for an end, or having them scream before dying.
i've ranted a bit about this song before, but honestly, this is probably the only "another version" that is almost as good as the original. there will be spoilers onwards with this comment, so be warned about that honestly, its kind of a shame is only plays in one area of the jail and it fits so well too honestly the sort of distorted instruments fit the story of the jail perfectly, in a way it sort of seems like its resembling screaming, which fits with how the monarch viewed the general area this jail takes place in a sory of lab-like place where the people in the surrounding villages were used as test subjects against their will, anyone who went against this practice became a test subject themself and you can tell how terrified the monarch must have been to be a part of this its just so...fitting, both the song and the design of the jail itself honestly this jail was definitely my favourite also because ryuji says the f word
They could have gone more chilling with the design. Maybe a few rooms filled with operating tables either with skeletons missing some parts or stained with blood. Some of the crates that Yusuke points out being vaguely person-sized have some blood leaking out or a few of them open with a pale arm or leg hanging out. Maybe add some stasis tanks with strange mutants in them.
I feel like that would've made the presentation weaker if anything, because the main unsettling part of this jail (to me at least) is that you don't ever find out what happened exactly. Body parts, blood, and stasis tanks would make it sinister of course, but the tape recordings about Ubukata keep things mysterious. Fear of the unknown is one of the most powerful tools.
I still remember having that happen to me on my first playthrough, thank God they reccomend you save beforehand so it's not like the bullshit p1 pulls.

Definitely more freedom and security in mementos for me. The if you don't know where it's from its kinda a bop, but still unnerving. If you do know where it's from then the unnerved feeling can outweigh the latter.

In mitsuru's case, its a stain of the past.. Ken and koro rush to mitsuru's defense, soon to be joined by the rest of the gang. They think one goofy looking rogue persona user is nothing much (big mistake) Joker is handing the SEES team their asses on a 10 course platinum platter (he has his all negating yoshi aming other maxed out personas) and the gang is terrified Akechi of all people is there, makoto and haru behind him, and they are the ones to calm down and see reason.. Joker is out for the count, mentally exhausted and Makoto tells mitsuru and the gang about themselves and jokers circumstances... They agree to investigate this mess together, but they are still terrified and worried about joker going loco again. Oh, and joker's dad is the final bonus palace... That nutcase somehow brought tartarus back and is now causing major mayhem.
Although i liked the dungeon, it did scare me. A dark depressing lap with unknown creatures in it, paired with a mysterious spooky yet groovy sound just made me uncomfortable. Also fuck the fetch quest in there
