I love the mystery behind jail 4 (Okinawa jail) I have so many questions about it: Did it always look this destroyed or is it due to the monarchs absence? If not then what was it like originally? And the warden being in the jail implies the source of the monarchs trauma was inside the jail itself, this is backed up by the recorded messages you listen to throughout the jail Omg so fucking good
Tree of knowledge, the main song you hear after you beat the main story. A song you really just can’t escape from and plays over and over in your head. Slaps way too hard but has this sad tone, you want more story but can’t get it for now. DEPRESSION!
Stages from any videogame or Netflix series that these songs can fit in; Welcome to the Jail - Gotham City Loving Wonderland - Grizelda's Palace Duplicitous Devil's Castle - Bowser's Castle Voracious Waltz - Lin Kuei Temple Singularity - Luigi's Mansion Counterfeit Phantom - Black Tabby Dojo Anti HERO - Eggman Empire Fortress
I saw other people do rankings on the jail themes, so I thought I could do one too. So this is my ranking from worst to best: 9. Voracious Waltz: (7:00) as much as this song fits with the jail appearance, I don’t like it as much as the others. It’s not as catchy but I can see people at least liking it. It’s just that I like the others better, that’s all. 8. Duplicitous Devils Castle: (4:30) I like this one a little less than the others. Though the first 20 seconds of this sounds pretty good and that part between 5:22 - 5:38. Those two parts are good but everything else of the song is eh for me. 7. Welcome To The Jail: (0:00) This and the last one are almost tied but Welcome to the Jail is a little bit better in my opinion. It’s because at 1:10 - 1:49 slaps so hard. That part is a bop. Everything else is decent. 6. Loving Wonderland: (2:13) I feel bad for putting this one lower on the list but the other ones are better :(. This song is very catchy though, and it fits how the jail looks if that makes sense. It also kind of sounds like a song that Alice would listen to in her free time for some reason. It just really fits her vibe. 5. Tower Of Life: (22:23) Love the metal guitar in this one. It’s also a pretty good final dungeon theme. Could be a little more intense but nonetheless, still a banger jail theme. 4. Anti-Hero: (15:08) A theme like this really fits a high-tech looking jail. This jail theme also sounds amazing in general. I don’t know if anyone else hears this, but it kinda gives me geometry dash vibes. This one is also very catchy. Love this one. 3. Jail In Abyss: (18:16) Every time I hear this song, I just vibe. I love the beat and the beginning part of this song is so catchy and amazing. Even though it sounds a little creepy, it won’t stop me from loving it 2. Counterfeit Phantom: (12:16) I don’t know how to describe this one. It’s just really beautiful. The flute sounds so good and it honestly makes it better in my opinion. I also love how you can hear “Life Will Change” at 13:37. Such an amazing jail theme. 1. Singularity: (9:20) I-I have no words. This one just sounds so fucking amazing and beautiful. The sad violin, the rock part, just everything about this jail theme is a masterpiece. It just sounds so sad yet haunting. It also fits very well. This one is just beyond beautiful.
My ranking: 1. Singularity: I mean,,, this is just a compositional masterpiece. It fits the theme of the jail perfectly, and while the music itself feels hollow and empty, if you listen closely, so many sounds are filling the atmosphere. It's just brilliant. New person national anthem in my opinion 2. Loving Wonderland: This is a bop. Close to getting first if it wasnt for Singularity's sensational design. You can't help but dance when you listen to this. It is insanely catchy and the best part is that in game, some of the character's idle poses bop perfectly to the rhythm. 3. Counterfeit Phantom: What happens when you take Life will Change and Last Surprise and turn them into an instrumental masterpiece? This jail theme. The wind and string instruments coupled with the insanely catchy beat fits really well together. The jail was probably one of my least favorites playing, but I can't help but be in love with the creativity behind the soundtrack. 4. ANTI HERO: This is one catchy ass theme. The techno beats fit the jail's theme and style perfectly--not to mention having the best boss fight in the game as the cherry on top within the jail. I'd say this doesn't make the podium because it kinda reminds me of Okumura palace, but obviously with a much better theme. 5. Tree of Life: This gives momentos theme but give it a hint of Persona 5 royal and Our Beginning. It brings tears to my eyes and I still haven't finished the game. This is definitely going to be hard to play once I get to this point. I am just about to finish the Path to the Abyss. 6. Voracious Waltz: Talk about an instrumental theme. This is on the lower end of the list because while I think it is a strongly composed theme, it doesn't really feel like it is meant to be a Jail theme. It seems to playful, not creepy enough given the monarch is a gluttonous fiend with glowing red eyes... I still appreciate it, but not enough to fall in love with it. 7. Jail of the Abyss: While this song is quite dark, mysterious and funky, I just don't like the feel of it. I felt like a more sinister them could accompany the ambiance of the jail... I mean, it is quite literally a jail about kidnapping and brainwashing people to become slaves to AI. It feels very different as a Jail theme, but again not enough to be obsessed with. 8. Duplicitous Devil's castle: Okay... maybe this shouldn't be so low. Not that it is a bad theme, just that it is easily the most forgettable jail theme. It fits the whole "mystery novel" vibe with a focus on dungeons, but nothing more. It doesn't invoke the same imagery or sensations as singularity, loving wonderland, or counterfeit phantom. Thankfully its not the worst theme. 9. Welcome to the Jail: I admit. When I first heard this theme, I became even more in love with the game. But then I kept hearing it...again...again...and again. I didn't end up hating it, I just knew that each Jail had its own theme and was much more excited to hearing those than the same one over and over again. I would enter a jail and think "okay how much longer until the new jail theme plays??" There you have it. An explanation and an opinion no one asked for! Enjoy
I can kinda agree with your Welcome To The Jail placement. It's good... But like, especially when I'm in Alice's Jail, I just wanna hear her theme lmao
At first I also hated welcome to the jail. However, in osaka a new part comes in. The one at 1:10. And it is soooo good, it caught me off guard. That made me fall in love with that song.
The emotions the music conveys is stunning. It paints quite a lovely, dark, and desolate story as it injects dread as you paced the jail. It is very patently my preferred jail.
Hottest take: I like all of these more than most Palace themes in Persona 5 (vanilla, I haven't listened to the Royal ones yet, I am almost done with the Ark and it's... aight)
All of these would be perfect for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to play on Mementos. Welcome to the Jail Loving Wonderland Duplicitous Devil's Castle Counterfeit Phantom Anti HERO Would all be fantastic as original tracks. Voracious Waltz would need a New Remix.
I'm also not into Techno Music, but, Anti HERO is the exception. I want Zenkichi Hasegawa in Smash with these tracks along with Take Over, Counterstrike, You Are Stronger, Demiurge and The Scramble Remixes of Last Surprise and RITD. Singularity wouldn't really work in Smash. His Classic Mode would be called "Painful Past", like the Painful Past Requests.
This does not seem to be an opinion that many hold, but I really like Duplicitous Devil's Castle from the Sendai Jail. It also reminds me of some other sound tracks, although I cannot remember exactly what they would be.
I can't decide if I prefer Singularity or Counterfeit Phantom... the former gives me Resident Evil 2 Remake vibes, the latter gives me Ghost of Tsushima vibes.
@@Ardnux Anti HERO is the Osaka jail theme, which is why I said it should before that. EDIT: It just occurred to me that you might have thought I was talking about the game. Just to be clear, I was talking about this video lol.
My only complaint about the palace themes is that when you go sideways, the music suddenly takes a hit and you lose like an entire 3 instruments. Like Why?! Let us listen to your awesome soundtrack goddammit!
@@DopeioThePhoneBoi That's true. But For me, it kinda dampens my groove. Like your getting super into it!.. then it just cuts like half of the other instruments and you just feel like you were cut short.
Here's my personal ranking of these, from "worst" to best: (Note that these are all great, not a single one of these I'd consider even mediocre.) 9 - Duplicitious Devils Castle (Sendai): Sets the mood nicely, but it does lack the catchiness that all other themes have. 8 - Tower of Life (Tree of Knowledge): A nice endgame tune, it really does pump you up for the finale. Shame the dungeon itself was a bit on the shorter side. 7 - Jail in Abyss (Abyss): Now it's already getting hard. I like this one because, like Freedom and Security in P5, it managed to capture the sadness of apathy and captivity. I also enjoy how they used dissonant chords in here. 6 - Welcome to the Jail: This theme is great. It sounds very ominous and intimidating, but in a badass "Yeah, let's do this!" kinda way. I especially like the imposing part at the beginning that repeats a few times, where they imitate a prison alarm with guitars. I associate it with the shots of Joker looking over the transformed cities, facing the coming madness head-on. 5 - Eating Waltz (Sapporo): There's nothing like a 3/4 time signature. I like the quieter quirky parts of this one the most, but the grandioseness of it all definitely fits the Jail and its ruler. Love that they made the beginning sound like The Nutcracker. 4 - Counterfeit Phantom (Kyoto): Man, I love classical japanese instruments. They always bring a fun vibe to whatever song they're in. This one is no exception. It starts quiet and sneakily, just like the Jail it belongs to, but quickly grows to become a groovy and fun-filled jam, with some great musical callbacks to "Wake Up, Get Up, Get out there" which makes sense, considering Zenkichis Awakening happens here. 3 - Love te Wonderland (Shibuya): Yes, the literal horny jail gets top 3 treatment from me. I love everything about this theme; it's fun, catchy, quirky, and conveys its themes perfectly! I really like how it has some music box sounds in there, really captures the weird creepy carnival theme they went for. I also love how it starts with a record scratch. DJ Alice is gonna liven up this party! 2 - Singularity (Okinawa): Do I even need to say why this theme is incredible? The sad violin, the guitar that sounds like it's screaming into the darkness, the complete tonal shift from what came before, the intense percussion. It just all beatifully encapsulates the fear of the unknown you feel while delving into this place, that grows and grows with each recording you listen to. 1 - Anti Hero (Osaka): Osaka's Jail is utterly fantastic from beginning to end. The design, the story behind it, the ruler and his backstory, I love everything about them. And Anti Hero might be my favourite dungeon theme from any game. It's so intense, high energy and pumps you up, while also really hammering home the fact that the person it belongs to sees himself as an undisputed hero of justice, who rules over a cybernetic utopia. So yeah, this soundtrack is kinda good. Thanks for reading!
Love the very detailed review. I think we may have the same top 3 as well since Osaka's theme is epic for me, Singularity is that mystery/dark tone, and Shibuya has that catchy/gets you into exploration feeling and great way to begin the new game in my opinion. I see you have the Persona 5 / Royal palaces themes as well. love the new mementos layer theme tho and final palace theme as it really feels the end.
My ranking for every theme: 9. Welcome To The Jail 8. Devil's Castle 7. Love Te Wonderland 6. Eating Waltz 5. Counterfeit Phantom 4. ANTI Hero 3. Jail In Abyss 2. Tower Of Life 1. Singularity
*Note that the Welcome to the Jail played in this video is the version from akira's jail exclusively, not the whole game. The guitar solo is not there in the origional. Still love it tho 🎸
Tree of Life jail has a relaxed tone. Sure, the metaverse is close to merging with the real world and since its part metaverse, the phantom thieves can't leave because they'd be in the same place; but its also the realisation that you are going to fight the final boss and halt the fusing. Its calming in a way knowing you can save all of humanity.
*P5R spoiler warning* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Is it just me or does the last jail's theme song has similar vibe to maruki's palace? Or it bc of the piano?
Well Royal and Strikers were developed along side one another so they took a lot of influence from one another. A lot of people forget but Japan got both games roughly 4 months apart which is extremely close together for the same series.

It's easy to tell that Shoji left just by listening to these songs. The only Jail themes that sound like they were composed by Shoji Meguro is Jail of the Abyss (My 3rd fav) and Tower of life (2nd Fav). With that being said, a lot of the people here are ranking those 2 wayy lower than the others which is a relief for the future of Persona if they keep these new composers. Did it always look this destroyed or is it due to the monarchs absence?
If not then what was it like originally?
And the warden being in the jail implies the source of the monarchs trauma was inside the jail itself, this is backed up by the recorded messages you listen to throughout the jail
Omg so fucking good
I agree but probably this Jail was like 80% exactly like this even with the active Monarch. It is a test Jail after all
@@GrandeBigdor yeah you're probably right
But there would be less debris and broken objects everywhere
@@Irish_Enderman And the song wouldn't have been so fire. Andmaybe it wasn't the "cage of desolation".
i love all the jail themes but hearing the extended part of welcome to the jail in konoe's jail was such a hype moment. 11.5/10
Tree of knowledge, the main song you hear after you beat the main story. A song you really just can’t escape from and plays over and over in your head. Slaps way too hard but has this sad tone, you want more story but can’t get it for now. DEPRESSION!
Lol yeah especially on 8/28 considering anytime you leave any Jail you hear it almost immediately.
Counterfeit phantom is my favourite.
It fits very well to the jail theme.
0:01 2:13 4:32 7:01 9:21 12:17 15:08 18:17 22:23
I don't know if it's just me but if you listen to counterfeit phantom you hear. wake up get out there
Stages from any videogame or Netflix series that these songs can fit in;
Welcome to the Jail - Gotham City
Loving Wonderland - Grizelda's Palace
Duplicitous Devil's Castle - Bowser's Castle
Voracious Waltz - Lin Kuei Temple
Singularity - Luigi's Mansion
Counterfeit Phantom - Black Tabby Dojo
Anti HERO - Eggman Empire Fortress
I love the free game they added to this soundtrack it's not bad
I saw other people do rankings on the jail themes, so I thought I could do one too. So this is my ranking from worst to best:
9. Voracious Waltz: (7:00)
as much as this song fits with the jail appearance, I don’t like it as much as the others. It’s not as catchy but I can see people at least liking it. It’s just that I like the others better, that’s all.
8. Duplicitous Devils Castle: (4:30)
I like this one a little less than the others. Though the first 20 seconds of this sounds pretty good and that part between 5:22 - 5:38. Those two parts are good but everything else of the song is eh for me.
7. Welcome To The Jail: (0:00)
This and the last one are almost tied but Welcome to the Jail is a little bit better in my opinion. It’s because at 1:10 - 1:49 slaps so hard. That part is a bop. Everything else is decent.
6. Loving Wonderland: (2:13)
I feel bad for putting this one lower on the list but the other ones are better :(. This song is very catchy though, and it fits how the jail looks if that makes sense. It also kind of sounds like a song that Alice would listen to in her free time for some reason. It just really fits her vibe.
5. Tower Of Life: (22:23)
Love the metal guitar in this one. It’s also a pretty good final dungeon theme. Could be a little more intense but nonetheless, still a banger jail theme.
4. Anti-Hero: (15:08)
A theme like this really fits a high-tech looking jail. This jail theme also sounds amazing in general. I don’t know if anyone else hears this, but it kinda gives me geometry dash vibes. This one is also very catchy. Love this one.
3. Jail In Abyss: (18:16)
Every time I hear this song, I just vibe. I love the beat and the beginning part of this song is so catchy and amazing. Even though it sounds a little creepy, it won’t stop me from loving it
2. Counterfeit Phantom: (12:16)
I don’t know how to describe this one. It’s just really beautiful. The flute sounds so good and it honestly makes it better in my opinion. I also love how you can hear “Life Will Change” at 13:37. Such an amazing jail theme.
1. Singularity: (9:20)
I-I have no words. This one just sounds so fucking amazing and beautiful. The sad violin, the rock part, just everything about this jail theme is a masterpiece. It just sounds so sad yet haunting. It also fits very well. This one is just beyond beautiful.
Singularity is just incredible, best jail theme in the game
in my opinion it is ether that or loving wonderland.
My ranking:
1. Singularity: I mean,,, this is just a compositional masterpiece. It fits the theme of the jail perfectly, and while the music itself feels hollow and empty, if you listen closely, so many sounds are filling the atmosphere. It's just brilliant. New person national anthem in my opinion
I would enter a jail and think "okay how much longer until the new jail theme plays??"
There you have it. An explanation and an opinion no one asked for! Enjoy
Thank you so much for the very detailed ranking review! Kyoto, Osaka, and Shibuya Jail themes are my top three. Singularity is very great as well.
It’s obvious that “love te Wonderland” is the best one
Honestly I cant wait on what the music will be like when persona 6 comes out later in the future
9:20 I added that this song is haunted and mixed in rock style, really good.
The emotions the music conveys is stunning. It paints quite a lovely, dark, and desolate story as it injects dread as you paced the jail. It is very patently my preferred jail.
@@AviorGloria Expect for those stupid claws
The music in this game does not get nearly enough love. Its awesome!
whenever i hear welcome to the jail i keep remembering kasumi using cymbals and akechi looking at the cymbals he has with a disgusted face
Tree of knowledge had no reason to slap so hard as the final dungeon
I’m so addicted to counterfeit phantom 🎋
Duplicitous Devil’s Castle is actually good change my mind
Why I would try to change your mind when you said the truth?
The Sapporo Jail theme sounds like the Nutcracker music
Singularity is just so unlike _any_ other Persona or Megaten track and I still love it.
The Sendai Jail sounds like it straight up came from the Kingdom Hearts OST.
I’d imagine this would be the theme for the White Witch castle if Sora ever went to the Narnia world.
you could play it in the Ice Labyrinth part of Arendelle in KH3 and it would absolutely fit.
13:39
*Doesn’t this sound familiar to you?*
If you hold on life won’t change!
Same with tree of knowledge
Top 3 Jail themes in order from 3, 2, 1.
Shibuya Jail, Okinawa Jail, Osaka Jail. Change my mind.
I wont because i absolutely agree with you
I feel like the soundtrack from the great tree has parts of maruki’s palace theme in it....
That's the point glad u picked it up, both motif are Eden
I like all the jails
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that "Anti HERO" would sound really good mashed up with the Reflection Cave theme from Pokemon X/Y?
Osaka is my personal favorite. It's the perfect retro techno-beat.
Edit: Also, major credit to the amazing art for each Jail setting.
Hottest take: I like all of these more than most Palace themes in Persona 5 (vanilla, I haven't listened to the Royal ones yet, I am almost done with the Ark and it's... aight)
All of these would be perfect for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to play on Mementos.
Welcome to the Jail
Loving Wonderland
Duplicitous Devil's Castle
Counterfeit Phantom
Anti HERO
Would all be fantastic as original tracks. Voracious Waltz would need a New Remix.
Yeah, Sapporo's Jail theme isn't as catchy as the others.
@@luxrayblast well the only issue is they had our beginning to avoid spoilers... and i dont think demiurge has one of those themes
man still can't get over the fact that counterfeit phantom is a remix of wake up get up get out there
This does not seem to be an opinion that many hold, but I really like Duplicitous Devil's Castle from the Sendai Jail. It also reminds me of some other sound tracks, although I cannot remember exactly what they would be.
The picture of the Shibuya jail says something that I didn’t really notice. It’s like Alice is sucking the life out of the rest of Shibuya
when i heard konoes jail theme for the first time i almost lost it bc it is so good
I can't decide if I prefer Singularity or Counterfeit Phantom... the former gives me Resident Evil 2 Remake vibes, the latter gives me Ghost of Tsushima vibes.
I think I will choose Singularity! It's chill and make me a little bit sad!
The tree of knowledge of good and evil also known as the tree of life (Sephiroth)
And in Persona 5, SPOILERS.
The last area is named Qlipoth World, which is the exact opposite of the Sephiroth
When the boss fight started in the Kyoto jail I was really hoping I would get to control all of the characters against themselves,
I love the aesthetics of the Sendai Jail and Sapporo Jail. Halloween themed, then suddenly Winter themed.
I love the hell out of alice’s jail theme
ngl I kinda wish Welcome to the Jail Another Version was in between Counterfeit Phantom and Anti HERO.
I think the song plays it outside Osaka Jail as well.
@@Ardnux Anti HERO is the Osaka jail theme, which is why I said it should before that.
EDIT: It just occurred to me that you might have thought I was talking about the game. Just to be clear, I was talking about this video lol.
Voracious Waltz is, hands down, the best for me.
Before Singularity: Only one really vibin palace theme so far.
Singularity: do I have to finish this Jail?
My only complaint about the palace themes is that when you go sideways, the music suddenly takes a hit and you lose like an entire 3 instruments. Like Why?! Let us listen to your awesome soundtrack goddammit!
Idk, I like the sidescroller versions too. Makes you appreciate the beat and bass lines more.
@@DopeioThePhoneBoi That's true. But For me, it kinda dampens my groove. Like your getting super into it!.. then it just cuts like half of the other instruments and you just feel like you were cut short.
Probably so you can focus lnao
12:16 looks something straight out of a feudal Japan setting I LOVE IT!
Okinawa was my favorite theme for the game
Here's my personal ranking of these, from "worst" to best:
(Note that these are all great, not a single one of these I'd consider even mediocre.)
9 - Duplicitious Devils Castle (Sendai): Sets the mood nicely, but it does lack the catchiness that all other themes have.
2:13 idk what’s with me and themes like this, but it’s admittedly my favorite Jail theme.

Im suprised to see im not the odd one out for liking Singularity the most out of all of the jail themes
Everyone in the comments talking about their favourite jail theme and how good they ALL are
Except Sapporo lol
Some of these songs actually give me Kingdom Hearts vibes
I was gonna say something about Monarchs and changing hearts but I'm not clever enough for that
Absolutely
Like Sapporo right?
@@sonicdcm3493 exactly! When I first played it, I thought I was playing kingdom hearts instead of persona 5
Kyoto, Tree of Knowledge, and ANTI Hero are the best ones, don’t @ me.
Imagine if Akechi and Sumire saw this they'd probably be like here we go again 😧
Welcome to the Jail is still such a banger theme man
Atlus: its just a another Persona 5 spin off, the music doesn't have to go that hard
Composer:
This will probably make some p5S fans mad, but personally, I like Akane and konoe jail themes the most. Hope this doesn't make anyone else annoyed.

Is it just me or does the last jail's theme song has similar vibe to maruki's palace? Or it bc of the piano?
I like to think it’s a mix of Naoto and Maruki Palace/dungeon
The only similarly is the piano
Well Royal and Strikers were developed along side one another so they took a lot of influence from one another. A lot of people forget but Japan got both games roughly 4 months apart which is extremely close together for the same series.
I SWEAR TO GOD- 3:27 I thought I heard Lights Camera Action in there-

7: Voracious Waltz
6: Loving Wonderland

4: Anti HERO
3: Duplicitous Devil's Castle
2: Counterfeit Phantom

The Kyoto one is so good, its just a shame that the jail is so short
The fun thing is Welcome to the Jail gets more detailed with each further Jail.
The five jail theme is my favourite
Loving Wonderland was the best theme and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

1: osaka and sendai are top 1 for me
Jail in the abyss is so good its criminal and the counterfeit phantom them and the way it portrays forehead girl’s love of the phantom thief in it while being its own theme
Also wonderland is cool
Edit: I forgot anti hero, but how damn good the dungeon and the music was.
Edit: also forgot singularity, the music amazing, mystery is anazing and yeah
Ranking would be
9. The snowy one
8. The one wit da dragon
7. The jail entering theme
6. Tree of life
5. Wonderland
4. singularity
3. Anti-Hero
2. Abyss jail
1. Counterfeit phantom
Why is everything after the Kyoto jail so God damn good man
Probably a controversial opinion but these are all better than Persona 5's jail themes
Except Sapporo jail it's not quite there, still great though

1st - Okinawa
2nd - Kyoto
3rd - Osaka
4th - Tree of Knowledge
5th - Jail of Abyss
6th - Shibuya
7th - Sendai
8th - Sapporo
Does anyone else get Trauma Centre/Team vibes from 'Tower of Life'?
Nobody givin jail abyss credit
7:01 I feel like I walked into a Disney movie
Am I the only one who gets major Gentle Madman vibes from the final jails music?
It's easy to tell that Shoji left just by listening to these songs. The only Jail themes that sound like they were composed by Shoji Meguro is Jail of the Abyss (My 3rd fav) and Tower of life (2nd Fav). With that being said, a lot of the people here are ranking those 2 wayy lower than the others which is a relief for the future of Persona if they keep these new composers. But I'm only saying this based on the rankings of the comments on this video
The first one is fire ngl
