I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US.
We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me.
They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason.
All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

      没啥好悲伤的,中国也不需要那么多人来。米国等于帮中国提前做了筛选。筛掉了那些无脑,不会独立思考的,不会用互联网的,挺好的。

The point is to let as many people as possible to know western politicians and their control media are all lying to their people about China. And I believe you are one of those that have been lied and brainwashed by them.

The State Dept have guidelines to look out for products made using forced labour. But there are no Chinese guidelines to identify products imported from US that are made from prison labour.

I think food prices are comparable in both countries. But what's much cheaper in China are finished industrial goods and daily utensils. They can be a few times cheaper than in the US for the same thing.

      避孕套是为了提醒年轻的群体是否需要,别忘了买
      糖果放在哪里是为了带着孩子的家长,在等待结账的时候孩子想想要糖果,家长为了不耽误别人结账,总有被迫购买那些糖果的时候😂

There are many reasons why China is misunderstood. First, some Western countries, led by the United States, do not like things that are different from them, especially political systems and religious beliefs. They lack tolerance and equality; Second, China's rapid progress has made some countries very uncomfortable. They have lost the sense of superiority and pride that they have long held as the center of the world, generating jealousy and even hatred. Third, most of the major social media and software on the Internet are controlled by Americans. They have long encouraged content that defames China and restricted the dissemination of content that benefits China. So I want to show you a real China. You can also point out what you feel uncomfortable about. As long as it is objective and impartial, we can accept it with an open mind and continuously improve.

I agree with your statement more or less, but there's really no religion in China in the direct sense as long as the public don't use religion as a political tool in public in order to overthrow the government. Plus the states makes things complicate in general. Too much lawyers means too much nonsense talk.

Not many Chinese people make over 10000 RMB a month, but many Americans make over 1000 USD a month. That’s the point. There are more examples than that. We’re talking about whether or not how many items a currency can buy in its country.
