remy from streets
Corrections:
-bikei doesn't actually completely mean twink. it's more that twink is a subset of bikei.
-the backstory of K' wasn't ripped off from cool, but rather from haiji. i don't know how this one happened. there goes an entire minute of rambling about absolutely nothing.
-ed is not a twink. i remembered him being more of a twink than he was. and i didn't bother to change it for some reason?
-remy was in one other udon cover which is EVEN MORE INSULTING
Did you know? His favorite things are:
- jumping into chun li sa1
- stale bread
- hydrogen without any oxygen
- the newest season of American Dad
- aaand ice
Remy is that guy.. Always has been..
remy is a combo of guile/nash sagat and adon
guile/nash flash kick and archetype
sagat's high low projectile
adon's divekick
Handsomeman it means.
What word would you use to describe Ed in that case? I'd say he's twink-ish, but I have the sneaking suspicion that your twink expertise far outclasses my own.
He is a confused SNK character who accidentally came on street fighter. Probably brother of Kula Diamond.
Cousin of Ash Crimson perhaps?
Lol love that 👏🏾 😂
@therealgmhere5988that's also a good one 👏🏾 😂
I want this to be true
what? bro what are you waffling about?? he's just a french dude with self esteem issues
I always felt like he was actually a King of Fighters character that took a wrong turn, and found himself in the wrong game, so they were like "uhh sod it, guile charge moves"
sometime after capcom vs snk he got on the wrong plane home alone style
@@novameowww I found a video (Street Fighter 3rd Strike Online Edition - Makoto Vs. Remy) by SecretCraz where Remy was able to beat Makoto in a match.
Makes sense why he's not in another game: He hates fighting.
XD
A well-known fact (factoid?) is that Guile was supposed to be in SF3 but, due to lack of time, CAPCOM rush added Remy by repurposing stuff for Guile. They chose a "bikei" character because a slim-figured character was missing from the roster.
By the way, 美形/Bikei doesn't mean twink. It just means good-looking for all genders. It does tend to be used for slim, asexual-looking males but has nothing to do with being gay or not.
Remy is most likely "inspired" by the visual band boom in Japan, kinda edgy and asexual visuals, like so many other characters that can be categorized as "bikei". Iori is a great example as his looks are almost a straight copy of such bands during the time the game was released. Even his hobby is doing music/band. ED's design follows a bikei type boys bands/groups visuals that were popular in Japan a few years back, probably when his concept art was designed.
So it kinda follows the chart you made but it's more of a reflection of the trend of a stereotypical bikei as a whole in Japan at that time.
iori continues to be a mid-90's japan microcosm huh
Awesome, how did you find this information?
@@goob8945 For the story about Remy, Capcom used to publish booklets published for games with behind the seen stories, concept art, manga and whatnot called "Secret Files". I wasn't sure my memory was accurate so I googled Japanese sites just in case and they had that source as well so pretty sure that Remy was a rushed character was in there. Not sure of Guile stuff but I think that was in it as well or from some interview(s) with Japanese game magazine.
For the design inspirations, I don't think it has spelled out anywhere but living in Japan and being in the pop culture trend makes it pretty obvious where they are coming from.
@@marshiallaw Upvote for doing the research!
@@marshiallaw ah fascinating... thanks !!
"capcom intentionally designs the twinkiest of twinks" was not something i was expecting to learn today
i fw remy so hard bro, but dude was so unlucky 😭😭 i like his design (red pants are fucking cool) and even his backstory is interesting. He beats up fighters because he believes they represent all that's wrong with the world due to his personal trauma, but at the same time he seems to know that he's full of shit because he questions if he should even be doing what he's doing in most of his lines.
I really really want him to come back to sf6, we have like 4 shotos already, 2 guiles can't hurt. Make him more aggressive than guile, or maybe just port nash's moveset from 5 onto him, idc, just give me my french long haired emo boy back
They need to change his hate of fighters because his dad was one, into something like seeking justice against his dad for his sister. I think his moves are already called justice strike or something so it works for me.
I realy like the idea of trans-fem Remy because i was actualy so disapointed he was a guy. Here was i thinking Remy was some edgy lesbian but turns out he was just a KOF twink.
It all boilds down to Fallen Angels somehow.
I don't think it's fair to call Remy a technical shoto because he's a charge character. But also I love him and wish they'd retool him like Nash to bring him back.
I know I was just poking fun at how vague shoto-ness is sometimes
He's Charlie's son. He thought his dad abandoned his family. Little did he know he gave his life in a "top secret mission."
W theory. Hopefully it's true and they bring Remy back for 6
A good theory but likely not true unfortunately
@JoeMama-me2yj Capcom lore is all made of character concept notes written in pencil, background cameos, and breadcrumbs. Like the reason why Akuma has less health than everyone is because he's a vegetarian who only eats "fruit sandwiches" and lives as a roadside fruit vendor.
@theedwardian okay, but still I'm just saying an opinion...it'd be cool Don't get me wrong but likely it isn't
@@DivineZenkaihe is not coming back if they wanted him back he woulda came back in 4 or 5.. most of the SF3 characters came back in the last 2 games except him.. he ain't coming back cuz no one is asking for him
You've successfully made me feel sorry for Remy for the first time ever
remy is such a fascinating character. he sticks out like a sore thumb in a game with characters like necro, twelve, and Q, just by being so... uniquely uninspired. i wish you'd gone into his frankly insane story too. he hates fighters because his dad left his family to go fight? O-K makes sense. his sister is currently frozen in a giant icecube at the bottom of a lake that he goes to visit every once in a while?
... what?
i hope he comes back just so they can clarify what the hell they were cooking with that plot, plus i do like his design. making him nb would be really neat, even if they didn't street fighter has so few twinkish men he'd be a welcome addition lmfao
it's like they wanted to expand upon that whenever they were getting around to sf4 but sf4 ended up being 10 years later and a prequel and sfv also was a prequel but it was a sequel to the prequel and then they just kinda forgot that he existed at all. actually that's probably exactly what happened
I remember that in Saint Seiya, Hyoga also have sister/mother who was frozen at the bottom of the lake
Never forget that Abel was going to be a femboy until capcom made him into Alex 2.0
@@billyboleson2830 h u h
He's goddamn Charlie's illegitimate son too.
Honestly in sf6 it would be cool to see all the 3rd strike characters that didnt come back (necro, sean, remy, twelve, and q if you dont count g), but my guess is characters like makoto and the twins are priority number 1 for 3rd strike characters, especially bc they werent in sf5 :P (as a makoto player i'm not super sad about that tho)
I feel like the twins priority is lowered by Jamie being there and fitting a similar concept of traditional martial arts mixed with Street style.
0:45 POV You get grabbed by Makoto once.
Okay it never occurred to me that Ibuki was in three SFs in a row until you mentioned it. That's kind of wild since it feels like Dudley and Makoto are a lot more popular than her.
well ibuki was dlc for sf4 and 5, so she just might be DLC again
Three SFs and SFxT.
Legit, the main reason I like Remy is because his MK color palette makes him look like Freeman from Garou.
Freeman is like ArcSys' answer to Iori except he was also made by SNK. i love him
I feel like there are many interesting things to say about Remy and charge partitioning - the difficulties of playing a character who has to hold back or down back in a game where the most important mechanic is that you must tap forward to standing parry.
I know you mentioned that SFIII was a particularly difficult title for Remy to appear in, but the reasons for this are quite interesting, mechanically, and made playing Remy at a high level really challenging.
Personally I'd love to see him reworked in 6. Something like shorter range projectiles which he can charge to do the multiple ones with different paths, a +ob dive kick eith different arcs/angles, a slightly updated look (non-binary as you suggest, or etc.) and maybe a bit more turquoise finger laser effects. Could definitely work without treading on Guile's toes, especially if they make him a motion character instead of charge. He has some bonkers story, shamefully unfinished and could be a good tie-in for Nash & Guile's story, if fleshed out.
Funny timing with this video cause even though, Remy is low tier Pierrot just won HFS X with him about a week ago.
any links brother? will highly appreciate it. Played remy since 2001

Remy is the goat like not many can manage to replace Sagat and Guile
this video is so unhinged lol
that is my specialty
You earned yourself a sub with the idea of they/them remy
they/themy for short
Remy the must unfortunate character? NECRO EXISTS…
I mean even you ignored he’s existence when talking about the other unfortunate third strike characters. Even here the albino mutant dhalsim gets no love…
If you like remy’s gameplay at least guile exists… (but to be fair I doubt anyone misses Necro’s weird charge-input-dhalsim’s corner gameplay)
(((and I sincerely hope it’s true that everybody loves necro any sliver of hope that “whiteout lab disaster dhalsim” can come back literally gives me life)))
don't get me wrong i miss necro as much as anyone. however, he has actually appeared in the UDON comics, and has actually made exactly one (1) cameo in a game. which isn't really much of anything but it is still somehow more than remy gets. and he's actually decent in 3S. Big Yellow did a pretty good video about him, if you want to see whose style i'm ripping off wholesale you should check them out
@@novameowww fair enough, any acknowledgment of the third strike forgotten ones is welcomed.
And I will check that video out I love any content on the greatly designed but forgotten third strikers. I’m just about to resort to prayer/chanting in hopes that necro is announced in the new season I’ll chant for remy as well, and who knows it might come true, there’s a rumor that some of the season 2 characters would shock people, according to famitsu or so the rumor goes.
Anyways thanks for the suggestion.
Remy may be the most unfortunate sf character but he's the best sf twink. Much like how Iori is the greatest kof twink.
And he's named after that one rat too
okey, now I need art Remmy mopping around while yelling "you just dont understand, dad" to Cool and Iori as the devastated parents
LET BRO BE IN SF6 HE DESERVES IT
Reminder Deejay returned over any SF3 character in SF6. Why.
As a side note Remy needs a second chance he's cool. Guile's fine and all but they're hopefully going to move away from the Shadaloo plot someday. That's why Guile wasn't in SF3 besides throwing out the previous cast, he wouldn't really have any reason to if Shadaloo isn't a threat.
DeeJay is a popular character Remy ain't no where near as popular and interesting as Deejay.. Remy is wanta be Guile/Charlie... DeeJay is a Jamaican Musician who dances and has a original moveset of his own he is at least interesting.. Remy is not
@@javonbatiste3294 "Deejay is a popular character" my ass. No one cared about him until SF6, and people would rather have Feilong, Cody, Guy, Sakura, Alex, Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki... literally anyone else but him.
Deejay's ALSO a wannabe Guile and such an uninspired stereotype he's not even funny-bad like Dhalsim or Blanka.
dee jay needed a second chance after what they did to him in 4. was he in 5? wait was he in 5 i don't remember
@@novameowww Deejay wasn't in 5.

If we have three shotos in Ryu, Ken & Akuma
Having Gulie, Nash and Remy in sf6 would be awesome.
Even though the first three shoto’s all use the same fighting style they have differences in strengths and personalities that changes their game plans, special effects, combo routes, attack properties and damage values.
Doing the same for Gulie, Nash and Remy is definitely possible
One thing that should be acknowledged is that having directional Parry’s (high and low) in the game would make it easier for characters like Remy and Sagat perform well if they come back in Street fighter six
Also
6:57 femboy jumpscare
Great video :D I appreciate all the deep dives and alternate arts
Honestly, in the slim chance Remy is added to SF6, he'd probably do well as an Anji-style parry character
ed is not a twink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
remy is transfem though, you're so real for that
I remembered ed looking a lot more twinkish than he really did
Most third strike characters came back in future Street Fighter entries. Only 4 haven't returned as of now, and that's depending on if you want to count Q as G or not. The reception and fondness of Third Strike has only increased over time.
He definitely not out of it yet for sf6, they could completely redesign him his gameplay like they did with Deejay
Remy is definitely the one SFIII character you always forget exists
A command grab version of his neutral grab
Sa3 being a heavy meter usage special or ES move
Sa3 being more of a Ken sa3 with a different input
He feels unfinished
I'm a Remy fan, but I'm in peace with the fact he'll never return again.
Never say never, we don't know
I have some hope, and he would look great in sf6
Don’t put transgender Remy in my head no no no no now I need it
hes my favorite character, Sad to think he Will probably never be in another street fighter
I would also like to point out we acfually have the original Guile-Lite in SF6 with DeeJay. And since Nash came before Remy, this means Remy is actually Guile#4.
So yeah no eay in hell are we getting Remy and I'm hurt by it.
Sadly my prediction is that they're plan is generally to repurpose movesets from ThirdStrike into new characters and redesigns like they did with Ed and Jamie.
This is ironic how one fighter not only shares the same name as a character in Marvel comics, but both can't catch a break in popularity, sales or appearances! Both Remys are just not on the favorites list! One showed up in a Street Fighter game, then disappeared, the other, they killed him off on X-MEN 97!
man has never heard of twelve (love all my 3s homies, maybe they'll put some of us in 6)

I chuckled when I saw Remy because it had been clear for some time by then how hard SNK went with Iori's design and it was apparent that Capcom wanted some
Iori is possibly inspired by 70s era David Bowie, and I think it's possible Remy is too by extension
9:20
I love a pointless tangent.
Zoning is pretty rough in 3rd strike but at least they gave Remy super low HP to balance.
11:47 Im all for long haired boys but HOLY DUCKS now I NEED short haired Remy
Now seriously
Cmon, hes cooler guile
Like, there is a clear difference in how inspired the designs are between the new characters and the classic world warriors
Even with the facelift its still noticeable (and some characters like honda didnt even get the facelift lol)
Just give us new characters 😭
Like i know its hard for capcom to do "new character from new game important pls no forget!!1", but they clearly managed to do it this time in sf6 with Luke, why not going all the way
Rare to see a SF fan who actually likes Remy this much and wants more new characters lol, I agree
dud people just...forget G was a character? he is tied to Q they expanded on the lore not by a lot mostly hints that is supposed to lead going forward. But Q is for sure kept an eye on by capcom and was refenced in SF5
If this is a long, informative material on Remy, does that make it a Reminar?
As much as im impartial to the character, hed fit right in in SF6.
In some concept art, remy was originally supposed to be a handsome character with a multiple personality disorder and his original fighting style was "poison hand" meaning we could have had a fang in sf3rd strike
iori yagami is masculine enough and also has a girlfriend. His style is effeminate.
In World Tour mode there is actually a billboard that advertises the nightclub Remy's stage is set in front of, so obviously that's a teaser for an upcoming stage AND Remy as a character. They even put his stage theme in a battlepass, so he must be getting into the game!
Definitely...
Oh well, at least I can play as Remy by making him my avatar character in SF6.
he looks like Iori though 😅
I think it's cute that Remy and Ibuki flirt with each other in 3S. If one of them comes back, they should tie the knot!
when did this happen? i dont think the two had a rival fight
They don't, however the Japanese version has unique victory quotes for every character against every opponent.
Why does this have so many dislikes??? It's a fine video what.
weirdly enough it says it has much fewer dislikes in the video data itself. i think it might be that some people got pronouns jumpscared at the end really. or less likely, it's just one guy who has 70 alternative accounts idk
@@novameowww Just got the that part of the video so fucking based actually but besides my opinion that would actually be amazing marketing people would love it.
@@fillername917 -we could actually get a non-binary street fighter character who isn't an NPC. NPCs in a fighting games matter even less than NPCs in literally any other genre of game-

Okay. You just stole the trophy of "Greatest Fighting Game Video of All Time." (From the guy who did the video about the complete history of Guilty Gear... but his video didn't have TWINKS in it...)
Bikei doesn’t mean “Twink” it means something like beautiful or goodlook
yeah i realized that a bit after from another comment. the "bi" in it is the same as "bishonen" which is slightly more twink-adjacent
I say bring him back as Luke's main rival/enemy. They're opposite each other in every single way and it'd give them something else to do besides... existing???
Remy gotta get rid of the charge stuff. High low fireball mixups people would enjoy that. Great video
You forgot the Garou: MOTW Freeman connection to the chart. Remy is more of a copy of him than Iori on design.
Given that Garou came out half a year after Third Strike, I highly doubt that that's true. There might even be a chance it's the other way around, though 6 months isn't much time, even for 90's SNK. But he does deserve to be on the chart somewhere because I like him
@@novameowwwEnd of the day, it can be called a coincidence
Remy for SF6
Came looking for yet another video about Remy sucking in 3S and came out knowing the genealogy of fighting game twinks. This was very enlightening. (l love twinks in fighters. Rock Howard #1)
Remy truly sucked… He's just some off-brand creation who belongs back in SNK's scrapped character dumpster where Capcom found him.
There was nothing I like about him, personality, backstory, and appearance. But he does have a good movelist, theme song, and hair fluidity.
If Capcom wanted a Guile/Nash-like character in 3rd Strike: Why not Amy/Chris? The teenaged daughter of Guile whom she is in a relationship with Alex.
Heres a better rewrite for his story. Instead of hating fighters and being hypocritical. Lets go with this:
Remy's New Story
Remy grows up in Paris, abandoned by his martial artist father. His sister dies, and Remy vows revenge on his father for abandoning them.
Remy enters the Street Fighter III tournament, hoping to draw his father out by becoming a renowned fighter.
Advancing through the tournament, Remy fights with determination, interacting with various fighters who challenge his single-minded anger.
In the final stages, Remy defeats Gill, who provides information about his father's whereabouts as a reward.
Following the clues, Remy finds his father’s grave and learns from an elderly caretaker that his father left to protect the family from a criminal syndicate.
The caretaker reveals that Remy's father fought the syndicate from the shadows and died in a final act of sacrifice. Remy realizes his anger was misplaced.
At his father's grave, Remy decides to honor his father's memory by fighting against injustice, transforming his quest for revenge into a mission of redemption.
Remy emerges with a new purpose, ready to make a positive impact and forge a new legacy.

I thought you'd touch on Remi's depressing-ass story.
I might someday, along with a bunch of other SF character stories i like
What was Alex doing to that Robot's face?

I'd hope Remy takes Charlie Nash's spot now. Take from Nash to fix Remy's big issues while keeping things people like. People like the low and high sonic booms that can both be on screen. People like their flash kick. His tiger knee dive kick can probably take the place of Nash's jump and suck the life force out of you grab, give Nash's scythe kick and the air scythe kick (I am sure it had a different name). Because I feel with the drive mechanic Nash's gameplay can be fun but he should stay dead and you already got a "other guile" that has people liking the idea of the character
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSS
I think 3S is a great fighting game that has stood the test of time but I never prop it up as the best or nearly the best of the genre. I owned 3S on Dreamcast when I was growing up but I rarely played it outside of sleepover weekends at friends' houses in favor of playing Capcom vs. SNK, Marvel Capcom 2, and Project Justice. My biggest issue with 3S is the roster is weak af and Remy certainly personifies that glaring flaw of the game.
It seemed to me that Remy was a generic grab toward the late 90's Visual Kei boom in Japan during that time, and he would be an easy design for a new Street Fighter character in that vein. Remy sucks as a character since he's just "Guile but lame" but half the 3S roster sucks with him. The joke when I was growing up was 3S replaced great characters with freaks, basically, and it's not untrue lol. If anything, Remy is the least offensive on that front, and rather it's the fact that he's too generic for anyone to remember or care about him since, like you pointed out, he's basically Iori......... but lame.
I think the Alpha series is superior to SF3 but I can respect 3S for having a gigantic depth when it comes to the parrying mechanics. That's its only saving grace since even Alpha has Alpha Counters, Grooves, and a lot more variety, fun, and arguable skill ceilings. I have zero against 3S because I do like playing it from time to time, especially Urien, it's a fantastic game, but I can't vibe with this riding sentiment that it's somehow the greatest fighting game ever. It isn't and I grew up playing these games in the arcades in the 90's and early 00's since I was a little kid who took fighting games seriously.
Remy is the least offensive part of 3S being lame (where it's lame) since uninspired and generic is the least of that game's issues. If Capcom wanted to go that way, they'd have scored a lot more interest in the games if they kept the original World Warriors from SF2, and the game would matter a lot more. People hold up 3S largely because they see the well-known pros since SF4's boom say it's the best fighting game ever when a lot of agreeing heads haven't even played it that much alongside the other 90's and 00's fighters.
Also, nobody wants Remy taking up a coveted slot in SF6 lol. Nobody. *Nobody* at all. I can totally see Sean taking a spot down the line since he totally vibes with 6's aesthetic, but I imagine if he's on the shortlist, it'll be a while since Akuma was just released. I'd also love to see Makoto come back, so would a ton of SF fans, but that remains to be seen. I thought for sure that we'd see Dudley back since he's a fan-favorite but instead we got emo Ed taking up that command input boxer slot which sucks but whatever. At this point, I just want a Rival Schools character or Haggar and I won't ask for anything else for SF6.
I like remy
Хах, забавно
Why do you sound like you’re 15
Anyways yeah remy does need to come back. He’s an edgelord, but he is MY edgelord dammit.
i like to femme it up a bit whenever i write something scripted is why. i know you meant well but a lot of people won't take nicely to that
nonbinary remy would go hard as fuck icl
EZ fix. Sense he is a mashup of Guile+Sagat just dont have Sagat cuz he too old/shadaloo and have remy instead.
but that's the thing. sagat becomes 10 times more powerful when he's old /j
😕 so gay is cool in japan...that would make a lot of scene 😮
twink doesn't necessarily mean someone's gay. and bikei definitely doesn't mean that since they're not as similar words as i thought. but remy is definitely gay. and ESPECIALLY iori. his kismesis crush on kyo is palpable from space
He is the most forgettable SF character to me its also doesn't help the fact he doesn't have a original moveset.. his design is pretty basic and doesn't even look like a SF character.. I often forget he is even in the SF Seris.. Alex Dudley Urien Ibuki and Makoto are all more memorable
There are a good handful of characters that don’t look like SF characters lol
Stop talking like that
sure thing boss 🤠
Annoying video and a lot of misinformation in it
I think Remy could get an inclusion in a CvS3, especially if it's a huge roster and I mean a real huge roster worthy of a part 3 (60 or more character lmao).
Reason #1 is Remy's playstyle of all things. A CVS3 would without question have an INSANE system unlike any seen before (as with CVS2). There's certainly going to be some charge fireball representation, so we could expect Ash on SNK side, and someone from Capcom side most expectantly Guile- but what if the system in CVS3 could do some cool stuff with Remy's moveset particularly the low hit fireballs and Cold Blue Kick? Remy's low fireball assist in Marvel for example would be insanely strong. I can see CVS3 grooves allowing Remy to rush in after his low fireball for crazy mixups, maybe near-unblockable in the right circumstance. I say near-unblockable as there are actually unblockables knowingly put in SF6, but they built in protection for this, a little known fact. Anyhow this level of tech and expression could be a good reason to have him over Guile...
#2 .. even more so if Guile can't play right in such a game, due to an insane system not well suited to his moveset unless dramatic changes are made to it.
#3 Cap might want another zoner with a higher frequency projectile pressure (JP would likely be the primary Cap zoner), Guile/Nash don't really do that imo unless you adjust their kit. If you seen how a high level 3S Remy zones and a high level Guile from SF6 zones, you'll know what I mean! hahaha
#4 Remy ranks something like 42 on one of the characters poll post SF5, even over Urien and other repeat characters.
#5 CVS3 interactions! If Remy is Nash's son, putting him and Nash in the game allows for some cool interactions due to Remy's design. Same with Remy/Guile, Remy/Ash, Remy/K, Remy/Iori, list goes on.. we've seen many of these kinds of interactions in CVS2. Many are not well known and based merely on character designs or moves, not lore.
#6 Cap could choose Remy by pulling a SF5 or SF Alpha - remember they actually made the Nash the initial charge fireball and Guile was DLC in SF5. They aren't above replacing their charge fireball poster boy in even the recent past. Maybe they'd like to do this again with Remy?
#7 If Cap had two charge fireball characters that's another chance for Remy.. and they did do that in Marvel 2 (Nash and Guile are both there) and of course SF5. I can definitely see Nash being favored again in a VS fighter due to his teleport (not that Guile hasn't appeared in VS fighters before!).
#8 Edgelord twinks help sell games
I miss him dearly
🤢🤢🤢🤢
5:30 damn alex
In the next CVS, Iori should burn Remy’s Hair wig and say “Not in a million years”.
Plus, Remy gets thrown into the dumpster with the American Sports Team.
Make no mistakes there are God Tier Remy players out thier that will wipe the floor against your top tier Chun in 3s.. I know.. I've fought them..
Sureeee bro.... Good story
WE NEED TRANSFEM REMY NOW IN SF6
Honestly i think him being non-binary would be fine, but also you could have him be a more aggressive guile....have him be a rushdown zoner who gets in to land combos and then knock the opponent away with a projectile or catch them as they fly off with it
What does twink or bilei means? Translator doesnt help me
