    He really allows the melancholy to speak for itself. Really, he gets out of the way…Brahms is speaking here.

    I feel like a musical fool for not having known Nelson Friere until his recent death. The clips I’ve watched reveal a very great artist, possessed of exactly the qualities that are becoming more and more rare among musicians of all types. His emotional depth, the delicacy and restraint of his playing-a shame for me I didn’t know him all along.

      Dear,
      His soul is present among us in his various recordings. A great legacy for humanity. Enjoy them.
      Cheers from Brazil.

      Ransom, I think Arismar is right.
      Nelson Freire was an awesome musician, and he has left us an awesome musical legacy.
      What we can do now to honour this legacy is listening to his marvellous recordings, is enjoying eveything this hugely talented pianist has left us.
      I have been doing so __ Nelson fulfills my playlist at the moment, and it goes with me round the house all day long.
      To me it means a sort of compensation ... 💙
      🎹🎼🎶 💙

    Freire seems to me a perfect Brahms player. He feels Brahms' melancholy directly.

    Freire sounds like an orchestra! So much color and beautiful phrasing without overuse of rubato. I think he has some pedaling tricks up his sleeve! Thank you for posting this. I regret never hearing him in person. At least he made some fantastic recordings. His cd Harmonies du Soir is the ultimate in Liszt interpretation--sheer poetry and technical bravura!😍

    In this and some others of these Intermezzi, Brahms achieved a level of intimate personal sorrow and resignation not to be found anywhere else in all of music. Freire's extremely sensitive interpretation does this small masterpiece full justice.

      His ascent into mysticism, the spiritual plane, had never quite occurred to me as clearly as here. It makes me rethink the 1st Symphony, for instance, as profoundly cosmic and divinely-intuiting as any Bruckner symphony. (And not to forget that this music, when seem written down, is a feast of double-flats that belies it's simpler, modal construction. Ah, if only one could play it!)

      I'm sure that level of musical intimacy is found in other works, but it is true that what Brahms achieved it is beyond belief.

    Quelle beauté ! La musique vient au monde sans que Nelson Freire ne détourne l'attention vers lui...

    What a poetic and unpretentious performance of this great late masterpiece of Brahms. Thanks so much for posting.

    This is quite good but I would love to listen to the studio recording. I think mr freire would perform this piece much better there, since its not suited for a big hall.

    Nelson Freire is far better musician than his native argerich

    • @danmessias
      @danmessias 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Marta Angerich is agentinian; Nelson is a brazilian pianist.

    • @democolor42
      @democolor42 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yah, whatever, I am not interested in argerich, run away from everywhere where argerich sounds, I never understood why everything by her always sound so hysteric, Freire's performance became better and better over time, while argerich became even worse and worse

    • @danmessias
      @danmessias 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agre with you in totum. Argerich knows how to self promote her public image, while Freire is a shy man and much more concerned with music.

      They are different. Agerich is brilliant as well as friere. I love them both. For different reasons.

    Duyduğum saniye sanki ruhumun derinliklerinde bir şey kopuyor..🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ ben dokunuyormusum gibi hissediyorum o tuşeye. Notalar sanki benim için yazılmış. Sonra reenkarnasyona daha bi inanıyor gibi oluyorum. Bunlar benim belirledigim nadide kişilerin nadide eserleri olarak önüme getirilmişti ben önce çalmadan onay vermeden kimse icra edemezdi. Duygu kraliçesi bendim sanki 🤷🏼‍♀️😭 buna mı başlasam ne yapsam. . .
