Bring. Back a lot of memory....spent so many times making them with my Mom, and she's gone for 26 years already. thanks Helen!
I finally got to try this recipe last night. It was a hit with my husband and daughter. Completely agree that the combination of savory filling and sweet ginger syrup brings these glutinous balls to a whole new level.

I love the way you cook the filling -- Mung beans cooked in the rice cooking ! So fast and easy ! To have mung bean filling for the Tang Yuan, we called, is new and interesting as we add in Black Sesame seeds filling. Is good to learn something new from other countries. We cook the syrup with Pandan leaves , ginger. Thanks for sharing Helen ! Have a nice day !

Ty so much Helen :) C. Another dessert
i use to not like the mung bean fillings so i would secretly eat all the rice ball pearls lol
thehamsterlover100 me too😄😄😄
+thehamsterlover100 You can use red bean paste or coconut (normally in baking section) instead
Hehehe eating only the small pearls was illegal in my household, which is why I kept doing it. But now as I'm older, I do enjoy both :)
Me too as a kid
Your hair is so cute!
Luv your videos! .. Keep up the awesome job:)

HOT POT PLEASE!!! One of my fave dishes!!! U read my mind today Helen! I love this dessert and I was just going on TH-cam to try an find a recipe when I saw ur video!!! Now I don't have to pay $4 USD for 2 dumplings any more yay!!! :)
This looks very good !! I have not tried to make a lot of vietnamese deserts but I love them !!!
You might even want to try mochi!!! There are many versions but mainly two, a traditional Japanese style rice dessert filled with red azuki beans, or a modern mochi that is the same sweetened, glutinous rice ball, but filled with ice cream!!!
Ohhhh I love mochi !!! Red azuki is the bomb :)
Omg yes!!!
ginger soup is genius
She's so cute
You are not alone :P
I think there are quite many people who prefer the no-filling version ^^
This is my favorite dessert . I get so excited to see them in an asian store or when my mom makes them :)
Awesome video, the rice balls look great :D
another dessert please! I
My favorite sweet "soup" dessert!! So delicious!! When I made these growing up, we never used fried shallots. My sister-in-law from Northern Vietnam, makes it with fried green onions and that's really tasty! I love the little balls made over from the leftover dough. I've never seen the small balls with the sugar cubes in them, though. Oh, you forgot to put coconut milk in your bowl at the end. :)
A. Looks very fun to make. =D
whoever lucky guy married to Helen is blessed!
Another dessert would be fabulous.:)
