  • Tom Buidhe from Loch Callater. Thirteen hours in these hills, aching legs, head torch hike in the dark, twenty miles all round but rewarded on the way back with a summit sunset mini inversion. A very tough day but worth every last minute of toil.
After spending the morning and afternoon making some sleeping boxes on the Sunday we headed to the hills around 7pm and parked up a couple of hours later near Glenshee. After a few wee rums we bedded down for the night and got some rest before our walk in to Loch Callater and then onwards on the trail to Tolmount then Tom Buidhe.
We had tried these two Cairngorms beauties three times in the pest but for various reasons never completed both, the video will explain. So, no matter what, it was getting completed this time.
This is a long walk in, would have been helped by the initial part of the track being covered by bike but the video will explain that also.
Be prepared for the walk but don't be put off. We were lucky the weather was on our side on this one but try this route as the scenery is simply stunning!
