omg 1.5 years in and i finally found the correct term. "harmonizing". i've always looked up "how to find the right bass note" 😂

Great lesson! What's also great about this is, to add to this, you're not just limited to your 3rd and 5ths... depending on the progression, you can throw in some 7s or on occasion, a 2 or 4.

There is neoclassical metal guitarist from 80s David Chastain. In his songs, there is a lot of guitar harmony, some of solos fully recorded with harmony. How he layers them can make you think that it's played on synth, but it's not

Thanks Michael - that helps a ton. Nice, simple way to practice and think about harmonizing.

Not sure if it’s your style of teaching or after playing for so long, but Sir, you just turned on a light bulb that makes me want to bow down in your presence! This was remarkably awesome!

Thanks for this awesome lesson. I have one question though. When you are walking up from the A chord and use the B chord as a passing, it seems like in some places you are using the major third, and in other places the minor third (G string 7th or 8th fret). Both sound good but I guess the correct would be the major 3rd of the B chord, when I think E major as the root ??

Come on! How do you find a way to explain things that I can't get from other teachers? Thanks, Michael! This video is a bit of a revelation. It's a shame it isn't more obvious in your feed.

I dont get it at 5:45. Why you playing 7 th fret on high e and g and not the 8th fret on g string as this would be the major third of the b (5th of the e major scale -> major chord) instead of the 7 th freat (minor third)
