I bought exactly the same kit from Martin at byod two weeks ago and I was surprised how straightforward the build was. One thing I learned is you need a really good quality soldering iron, a five quid one from the local diy shop won't do the trick and get the perfect solder joints needed on the power board to handle the large currents that flow from the battery. My zenmuse came pre-balanced for a gopro hero 3 right from the factory and performs brilliantly. I bought the bluetooth ipad link and am looking forward to trying out the ground station at the weekend. Thanks for the video, I have checked my work against your and thankfully i seem to have done it right.
Brilliant video ; very professionally presented (and that comes from a retired me who has spent a lifetime in telecom training). I was contemplating buying this system on advice from Mike at BYOD and your video has clinched it. I think they should be throwing some complimentary goodies your way for the extra custom you must be attracting!! Well done.
Wow, thank you for your kind comments! Please do let them know because I had hoped the video would bring them some more customers, and I"m very pleased to see that it worked! Best wishes
AirborneFilming That's good to hear about www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk/. I emailed two other web shops and they didn't even bother to respond. Looks like BYOD will be getting my money!
great video...hope you could do more reviews and installations/setup. can you do a video of the Futaba T8J setup and Naza M configuration...big thanks!
Hi great video I have just used it to make my 550. At the end of your video you mention set up and testing. I can t seem to find the video and have subscribed. Thanks
Great video - what battery did you order for yours? Am looking to order one of these kits or similar and am unsure which battery it is you're using? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Man, you do like your Gorilla glue ;) All I would say is be very careful using it as 'threadlock' in on the motors, I don't know these motors specifically but usually the fixing holes go right through the can and, as Gorilla glue expands (and the more humid the conditions, the more it expands) you could end-up interfering with the armatures. Excellent videos though, thank you very much! :)
Great video. I followed your video step by step as I put together the same f550 hex, E300 system with naza m- v2. Very helpful info throughout the video. I have a question though, I have a nano tech 4s- 8400mah laying around, would this be suitable for this craft if I am looking to get longer flight times? Or is there a limit when it comes to the mah capacity to be used on this system?
Hi many thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The mah refers to the amount of power it stores (milliamp hours) and therefore the only important factors are the number of cells (4s = 4 cells) and the C rating - which is how quickly the power can be drawn out, optimum would be 30 or 35C. your batter should be fine but make sure its not puffy as that might indicate it has leaked etc, and you wouldnt want sudden failures midair! I've even heard of people using 2 batteries in parallel!
AirborneFilming My nano tech 4s- 8400mah has a discharge rating of 40-80C. i have never used it, it is still in its original box. I just need some assuance as I dread the magic smoke on such expensive equipment.
Hoo brilliant video mate... really did helped a lot... I have a question tho.. I used to have a Phantom, and was using the 5.8 fat shark FPV system.. can I still use the same FPV system with this DJI F550? Would I be pinching power for the transmitter from the same main source? I would really appreciate if you could give me any information about this matter... Also, would you then recommend the Futaba controller before the DJI D7? Thanks in advance.. and again, great videos! G
To my knowledge the FPV are perfectly fine, and use the same power sources. I personally like the Futaba as it is relatively easy to configure and add-on!
+SageNTitled I think they're about the same, but personally I always liked Futaba, just personal preference I think, but for the F550 they'll both do the job!
where did you purchase your zenmuse h3 gpu for your f550? I am mounting my gimbal as well and was wondering how to attach and get it working. thanks in advance.
does the NAZA not have to be in the centre? there are a few other instructional videos where they make sure it is lined up and stuck right in the middle. does it even need to be facing the right way? What is with the length of that exp cable. it makes things so
Hi, the satellite needs to be as close to the centre of gravity as possible, and pointing "forwards" for orientation purposes. Howeve the CoG can be configured in the NAZA settings if you have it placed toward the rear of the craft! I've done both which both seem perfectly fine edit: (still me, replied using a different account!)
thanks for the quick reply. so i can just cram it all in without sticking any of it down? i don't think it would affect the cog once the weight of the landing gear and gimbal is added on would it?
defSpray I use velcro from amazon to stick everything to the bottom plate, its lightweight and stops it from moving around www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0017GKK5G/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As for cog, in theory no it should be the same - but if you put the satellite somewhere else, you just need to tell the naza that its offset along x and y axes.
AirborneFilming thanks. you can pretty much get velcro anywhere and i am quite aware of the satellite positioning. When you say satellite, you are talking about that white gps compass disc right? i always thought a satellite orbited the earth or other larger objects. but i didn't go to school . anyway my problem was actually getting everything to lay flat without putting to much strain on the exp cable but if it doesn't need to be flat or facing any particular direction then my problem is solved.... oh short for satellite dish?
defSpray Yes that would be dish! It often refers to something that is separate from the main unit, but controlled by it, for example: a satellite office is a sub-office from the head office. :)
Hi.... I loved your video. I am looking to fly two Go-Pro cameras so I can capture in 3D. I am in the states. Do you know of a good place for me to buy a kit like you have? I am looking to spend as little money as I can, but, perhaps all vendors have about the same price? I dono. Any feedback appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Hey thanks for watching and for the kind comments! I'll mail our guys here to see whether they supply to the states, shipping isn't that much these days. Great idea with the GoPros!
Thanks! The batteries I keep handy are these, they are reliable and give a reasonable flying time : www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk/4s-lipo-battery-5200-mah-35c.html

Excellent thats great!!
This brings back memories ✌️
Very well done! Excellent graphics! Can't wait to see the H3 3D gimbal installation.
Hey thanks! As it happens just filmed the footage today so will be making the video this week!
I bought the same flux 3 days ago for my f550 and now i see your video ! nice :)
excellent! It works very well I found!

Great series looking forward to more on setting it up!
Hey thanks for the comment, I've just filmed the footage and will make the video this week if that's useful to you! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video - it all seems to make sense! I'm looking forward to your other videos and the build/pricelist.
HI, that's great thanks - yes I'll compile the list of equipment etc today and I'll put up some info on the purchase, the guys at BYOD are great!
AirborneFilming That's good to hear about www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk/. I emailed two other web shops and they didn't even bother to respond. Looks like BYOD will be getting my money!
Tim Coggins Yes indeed, they don't just sell the products, they understand them and are happy to spend the time talking to you about them!
great video! thanks for the very clear explanation!
Hi Thanks for watching and glad you like it, another video coming this week on installing the Zenuse H33D!!
Good Man !
Thanks for this - very helpful indeed 👍
great video...hope you could do more reviews and installations/setup. can you do a video of the Futaba T8J setup and Naza M configuration...big thanks!
Hi, yes definitely, just have to find some time to get it recorded etc, but will definitely be doing it! watch this space!
Hi great video I have just used it to make my 550. At the end of your video you mention set up and testing. I can t seem to find the video and have subscribed. Thanks
+Nick Quinn Hi, I did a bit of a test video coupled with the Zenmuse gimbal setup! check the video list, cheers!
Why are you using the glue as opposed to blue thread locker?
Convenience :)
can you make a video on how to set up the Futaba T8j with the F550 Naza v2
Great video - what battery did you order for yours? Am looking to order one of these kits or similar and am unsure which battery it is you're using? Thanks and keep up the good work!

Thank you for video. So can you help me for set the tilt control on T8J for h3-3d? I don't find any suggestion yet...
Hi yes of course, I'll be doing a video on how to set it up, but it is surprisingly easy to do! :)
Thank you so much. I've just resolved it... I didn't see the x1 channel active after a while I understand why :)

those screws come with locktight on them.
Second, those holes under the motors, left and right of the screw holes are for your motor wires..
Not sure mine did, but better safe than sorry! and I found the holes that I used kept it tidier! Thanks for watching
good video though.
Eric Jones
Thanks :)
If I'm only using the F550 drone kit with my GoPro, should I get the Futaba T8J? Does it offer any advantages over the DJI remote controller?
+SageNTitled I think they're about the same, but personally I always liked Futaba, just personal preference I think, but for the F550 they'll both do the job!

Hey sorry for delay emails screwed up! I've just filmed the footage and will make the video this week if that's useful to you! Thanks for watching!
How would I connect the NAZA to a Turnigy 9x receiver on a F550?
HI, with receivers that don't have SBUS simply connect each channel separately 1-6 mirroring the motor inputs on the opposite side, hope that helps
What heatshrink did you use? I just got my F550 E300 and really anyoned the cables are not ready to fit.
I just used some 5 and 7mm standard heatshrink tubing!

Grat video only problem is that your into is waaaaaaaaay to long.
5 seconds? because beyond that is unboxing and not really intro :)
Sorry, I don't even remember commenting that comment, I must have been grumpy.
haha no problem, always appreciate feedback!
