I was a bit to harsh with DJI on this review. After changing the dampers on H3-3D it is much better. The F550 is a really solid setup. It has been solid in difficult situations.
IslanProd I would recommend Pulse or Tattu (gens ace) packs. Both have a 6600mAh 4s flat pack & both have a 10000mAh 4s pack. I have not used 10000 mAh pack so run test with that size pack if you go with it. I have been using Gens Ace packs for over 5 years & can say the packs are great. I'm talking about over 30 packs in that time. Pulse have a great reputation & I know a lot of people who fly them also.
Use softer dampers. The white ones are to stiff. You should see extra dampers in the box. The ones that are edged with the sticker # 50 & 40. The 40 seems to be best. The H3-3D gimbals are very sensitive to vibration and one should keep everything stock on the DJI copter. For example: I have seen someone replace stock props with carbon fiber and the H3-3D reset and would not work and seemed like a faulty gimbal. Put the stock DJI props back on and worked fine. I hope all works out & safe flights
Hi, Nice video. Have you thought of using a high density foam? Pick and pluck will wear out fast. A high density foam wil last much longer. And you can cut them a bit smaller then the case so you can optimize the use of multiple layers. If you are interested I can send you some info. Regards, Jan-Peter (waterproof case specialist)
+Jip Ruis Jip, I actually like the P&P foam better. Its more forgiving (soft) than the other more dens (stiff) foam. I put almost all my copters in P&P foam (S900) and it has held up good for me over the years. That's just my opinion I know other ppl who don't like the P&P but I like it.
the leg retractable look solid, i saw other model from internet but they not look so tough, am i right? how did you manage to use retractable with failsafe mode? thanks
hi very nice video, i have similar setup but with stock landing. I'd like to upgrade. The retracts are solid? How much they cost and where i can buy them?= do you suggest them? i have a football 12fg radio. i'm afraid of the fact that if the retracts are on and i with failsafe accidentally the 550 will land with retract crashing the gimbal. have you found a solution programming the switch in radio? maybe a program mix will help, what you think in addiction i have the h3-2d, do you think the 3d is much better or the 2d can cope well with it?
H3-3D is a better gimbal. 3rd axis makes all the difference on a professional level. You don't need to upgrade at this point on a hobbyists level and the same goes for retracts. If your doing a lot of demanding shots for example, camera pointed at a downward angle tracking a biker and need to make extreme moves with the copter, the regular landing gear will show up in the footage. Retracts you never have to worry about landing gear in the footage. As for fail safe and retracts, when I have been in that situation I turn off the radio when the copter is back in site turn back on and have total control again. Retracts $100 and up. Just do a search to see options.
I use a 14 channel receiver I think Ch 8 is mapped for landing gear. 2 position switch on Futaba Radio. Lights Ch 9 is also mapped to a 2 position switch. Tilt is easy to map and don't need extra channels. You can use X1 on Main Controller (Naza M-V2) assign a switch in the Futaba Radio for example: Futaba 10CHG tilt is assigned to VR (D) or you can assign to nob VR (A). With Futaba you would go into menu and choose AUX-CH to assign VR (D). There should be some vids on how to do this also.
I see. It helps to have the 14 ch Tx. I have a Super 8 FG. Only 8 channels, and not a very intuitive interface. I've heard that I can't have gimbal control and an xtra channel for servos or other things because of the limited number of channels.
AerialVP Thank you for your time ! I order the almost the same configuration kit. But with an walkera 3DH gimbal. Was wondering how long flight will i have with the 6000mah 4s and 8000mah 4s. Thank you for that detail.
This gimbal is very sensitive. For example: At the field someone put carbon fiber props on a F550 and the gimbal reset every 30 sec and looked as if it was a bad unit. As soon as he switched out the prop with stock DJI it was solid. This gimbal is pretty solid once you set up its sweet spot and does not reset as much.
Ola bom dia, você teria como mandar fotos da parte superior e inferior, pois gostaria de ver como você colocou a bateria e o Zenmuse para dar certo o Centro de Gravidade do modelo, obrigado pela atenção, parabéns pelos videos
How did you program the retracts to go up and down? i currently have mine on a gear switch but once i click the gear switch the quad nose dives, so apprently thats not really the Gear switch? thanks in advance
That is a HUGE case!!!!
Where did you get your case from? :)
where did you get the foam inside the case? Nice vids
It is Pick N Pluck Foam and is an option when you purchase a Pelican case.
AerialVP thnx, going to buy a dji f550 :)

AerialVP nice to know :)
What size props are you using. also, please provide the link to buy :) thanks
HI. very good video. I have a F550., what is the best 4S battery for a longer flight.

AerialVP Hi thanks for the reply !!
I experience this exact same thing with my H3-3D gimbal even in low or no winds!!! Have you found a solution?

Thank you do much for your very informative reply. I will give that a shot and let you know how it goes.
Kastan, Also want to say great website & channel! Best of luck to you.

I have a very similar set up and im having trouble setting up the retractable landing gear on my futaba t8j, any hints??
the leg retractable look solid, i saw other model from internet but they not look so tough, am i right?
how did you manage to use retractable with failsafe mode?
thanks
switch out of failsafe & 100% control to land.
Hey Joshua, I was wondering where you found your mount for the h3-3d and what it's called. Thanks in advance!!!

Ah I see. So you can actually elect to not attach the legs if you want retracts. Convenient. Thanks for the reply!
Dude this is a very useful video... Can u please tell me the dimensions of the box...?
Pelican 1640 (L x W x H) Int. 23.7"x24"x13.9" Ext. 27.2"x27.5"x16.3"

what props are those?
What retractable landing gear are you using?
Russ, The Landing Gear is made by Gaui but look around some better gear is out at this time.
how did you set up your switch for retract control and gimbal tilt?
I use a 14 channel receiver I think Ch 8 is mapped for landing gear. 2 position switch on Futaba Radio. Lights Ch 9 is also mapped to a 2 position switch. What size of battery do you put in your second 550 and how long can fly with it?
4S 5400mAh 8 minutes. I would recommend 4S 6600mAh for a bit more time.
+AerialVP how long can you fly with the first 550 configuration ?
+Thony Cla 8 min with ease 5400mAh. 6600mAh 10 min / 10000mAh 14 min with ease
AerialVP Thank you for your time ! I order the almost the same configuration kit. But with an walkera 3DH gimbal. Was wondering how long flight will i have with the 6000mah 4s and 8000mah 4s. Thank you for that detail.
From my experience: H3-3D operates in quadrocopter mixer mode. In any other its twitches. I'm flying with 2 Naza on board )

The lipo pack is placed on the back of the frame. Check out this vid for placement & balance. th-cam.com/video/5RovzPRJAAM/w-d-xo.html
Ola, você teria as medidas dos cortes da espuma, e qual espuma usada, Obrigado pela atenção
It is pick & pluck foam that comes with the Pelican Case. No need to cut the foam.
How did you program the retracts to go up and down? i currently have mine on a gear switch but once i click the gear switch the quad nose dives, so apprently thats not really the Gear switch? thanks in advance
+TheMighty Thor, You can connect the retract servo to receiver of your transmitter (remote)and controlled it via chhanel of your transmitter.
o que ele quis mostrar ?????????????????????????????????????????
They changed to that crappy cable because they didn't what to pay the licensing fee to GoPro for their proprietary camera plug on the back.
It looks like DJI & GoPro don't want to be friends anymore. (DJI) We will make our own camera! (GoPro) We will make our own drone!
Yeah, and they both will suck! LOL
from where u get the case?
also what multifunctional you used? do you use a multifunctional also with the retractable?
thanks
Yes, multifunctional setup used with retracts. Multifunction landing skid kit (ebay)
AerialVP Thanks a lot.
do you know the aeroxcraft landing? it looks better built than this skid, but also heavier.
