Penelope Cruz is actually not latina but hispanic since she is from Spain. Latinos/latinas are people from Latin America. Other than that, good video ! 👍
True, but... in a certain way can be considered similar because latinos have Spanish roots but mixed with african and other european people.

@@Jac_mx03 en realidad el término correcto sería Hispano Hablante si se refieren al lenguaje que se habla (Español o lengua derivada del Latin), pero cuando se habla de Latinos, se refiere a Latinoamerica, a una zona específica de América cuyo idioma es español, países como España no cuentan como Latinos sino como Hispanos

Second, the word latino comes from regions where have culture and lenguage derivated from latin. Spain, France, Italy, Portugal ... are countries that have these characteristic. The word you are using, as the unique true(that eliminate the root of latin in european countries), come from EEUU that use this word to differentiate themselves from the other americans countries.
So , yes european country like Spain or Italy are Latino-europeos and american countries like méxico are Latinoamericano (think about why did this word have america/no/na)

If I say Anglo Americans, am I talking about the US, Canada, or both?
Australia and New Zealand are also Anglo countries however, the clear distinction is that they're not Americans so cannot be called Anglo Americans.
In that same sense, Latin Americans are latinos from the American countries.
So, what about the latino countries not in the Americas?
If I mention Latin Europe (Europa latina), who am I talking about?

One of my favourite things to find and enjoy is music that gives me chills and goosebumps. I was cruising TH-cam recently and discovered a Russian talent show contestant that did just that, with one of the best, most unique voices I've heard in many years. Her delivery was nothing short of magical and I searched out more and more and more, and...more chills.
I was stunned to find that the first performance I heard was when she was 14!!!! She's now 17 and still developing. She sings in Russian, French, English and Arabic.

I've seen lots of comments about Penelope Cruz not being Latina. Here's something that must be clear: Latin and Latin American are two different things.
Latinos were only originally from Lacio, Itally, where the Latin language started to change and transform in what we know now as Romance Languages (French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, Catalan, etc.). This means that people from those countries are Latinos.
Now, Latin Americans are people from countries in the American continent that speak any derivatives from latin language. This is not the same as Hispanic because not all Latin Americans are Hispanic. Hispanic countries are only the ones conquered by the Spanish Crown, like most of the American continent, also Philippines, Guinea Equatorial and Western Sahara are Hispanic, Brazilian are not Hispanic.
What happens is that in the USA is they recognized Latinos as people from Latin America and we adopted here.
I'm studying translation, so I have to know and understand the language at its deepest, and to do so I have to comprehend the bases of Spanish (as you may notice so far, English isn't my native language,) in case someone wants to minimize my commitment.
We know, but everyone is used to that when you say “Latino” or “Latina” is because they come from America and speak Spanish. So basically is the same. So if Penelope is from Spain hate to break but she’s not “latina” or Latin, she’s European. And also when we say Latin, is short for Latin America.
