I decide to spend the morning birding at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area in Kingston.
I haven't been here for quite some time so I decide its time to visit again.
The Conservation Area is looking very nice today with the green of spring bursting forth everywhere. The day is mild and breezy with partly sunny conditions. In the end I walk about 9 km over about 3 hours time and end up with 70 species of birds recorded. I tally 3 new birds for 2024. These include Common Tern, Mourning Warbler and Chimney Swift.

I'm with you, Herve... I can't believe May is moving so fast! And the scent of the lilacs has to be one of my favourites. That looks like such a fantastic path to walk... What an incredible birding day!!! I am so envious! I've never seen a mourning warbler, so that is one I'd love to add to my list but luckily the chimney swifts visit yearly and seem to be nesting in the 'chimneys' of the buildings on my street, so hearing their chatter, especially in the evening is one of my favourite summer sounds. Terns , Common and Caspian, are easy to see when I bike down to the Humber river, but birds like the wood thrush, ovenbird or marsh wren are harder to come by. Delightful birding day all around and so grateful to you for sharing it with us! Your videos have me thinking of making a birding trip to Catarqui and the surrounding areas. Thanks again!
