Everyone saying Brett Lee was being out of order need to put this into perspective. Piers Morgan called the English players "cowards" for not being able to face up to the Australian pace attack. So he was challenged to face a genuine pace bowler, bowling aggressively at 150km/h. Brett Lee was actually trying to stand up for the England players by making a point, facing that kind of bowling is not easy. Credit to Piers for being brave enough to face him.
+Sloth from The Goonies The difference being that the English players are professional cricketers who have trained and are experienced in facing 90mph bowling. Piers Morgan is a middle aged journalist and sports fan with an opinion. And huge overstep no balls. It sounds to me that you are implying you have to be a professional sportsman to be able to critisice sports players even if you believe they are not performing up to standard...
***** No, it wasn't the criticism of their ability that was unfair, it was the fact that he called them cowards. Nobody who faces aggressive 95mph bowling is a "coward". Sloth from The Goonies But the Australian bowlers weren't bowling bodyline deliveries like Lee was doing deliberately here. It's one thing facing 90-95 mph deliveries intended to get you out, it's another thing facing 90-95 mph deliveries which are aimed at the body and intended to cause fear and physical harm. If a bowler in a professional match was to bowl like Lee did here, he would get a warning or be forced to be taken off. And I don't know Morgan's comments about calling England players "cowards" so I can only take your word for that. But regardless, it doesn't change the fact that English cricketers are professionals who are experienced facing fast bowling and therefore should be able to stand up to fast bowling whereas Piers Morgan is not.

***** Not only Americans, why do you think we shipped the idiot of to the USA:) He might start trying to bring in a "cricket ban" now, he nearly got killed by trying it.
Here is some background info on this: Australia and England are playing a cricket series. Aus have a very quick bowler (pitcher) whom the England batters are finding hard to handle, hence England aren't doing too well in the games they have played. Piers had the nerve to call the England batters "weak" and "cowardly", then he went on to claim that he could easily bat against quick bowling (pitching), so Brett Lee (and X Aus fast bowler) did not take too kindly too his arrogance and challenged him to face 6 balls. The pitchers usually throw a few at the body and then slip in one at the three poles (as Brett also did). The batter's job is to prevent the ball from making contact with the poles.
I genuinely think Pier Morgan thought he could face Brett Lee. I've had the misfortune of reading his book. He's a keen cricketer who rates himself very highly. In England, to be fair, he's probably a good village cricketer who could just about hit a half volley off a 70mph bowler and reckon he's not half bad. This is reality hitting someone's over inflated ego so hard, it's beautiful. I mean, yes brave, funny - kinda, but I honestly think in his head, Piers Moron thought he could lay bat on ball- try to show English professional batsmen "how it's done". Look at his disappointment at 3:06 - what did he expect? Brilliant.
It’s bizarre that he agreed to face him and then essentially ran away from his stumps every ball. If he’d been out in the middle rather than in the nets he’d probably have been hiding behind the square leg umpire by the time the ball was bowled. Lee was just adjusting his line to stop him getting away with it. You could say he’s brave to voluntarily face Lee, but he faced him like a total coward. He wasn’t even looking at the ball most of the time. His reaction to the wicket is pretty funny. Reminds me of one of the guys in the village team I played in when I was a kid. He had the worst pair of hands of any fielder I’ve ever seen. I played for that team between the age of about 13 and 16 and never once saw him take a catch. He had a reputation for dropping the most gentle dollies scooped toward him and then grinning towards the bowler, but when there was a ball rocketed at him and he’d get a hand to it (or more often than not, it’d hit him in the belly as he stood gormlessly) he’d have a reaction similar to Piers and start cursing as if he took them every week.
Absolutely. He is that delusional that he would have genuinely thought he could waltz in the nets and hit Lee around a bit. He had, and still has, no idea about cricket.
He still had the absolute shamelessness to go and and say he used to face bowlers bowling upto 82 mph in village cricket in an interview with Harry Redknapp. As if
@@tauseeqhaider650 A village club next to where I grew up had an Aussie overseas player for a few seasons who was clocked early 80s. By far the best player in the league though.

To anyone saying PM was courageous to face Brett Lee.....he didn't face him. He ran away to square leg to avoid facing him. He was more than a yard away from his crease when the ball was bowled. Facing him is standing up in your crease and trying to play the ball. The only reason PM got hit was because Lee followed him as he backed away.

Boy o Boy. There were some serious Balls on the display. By both parties. ( if you know what i mean ). but honestly, lee attacked Morgan's body. That was a bit out of line. The guy was actually hurt.
The thing was, Morgan had been berating the England team as 'cowards' and saying he could 'handle Johnson's pace far better. Lee is old and retired and slower than Johnson, and he wasn't even bowling at the best he could despite that. He was toying with Morgan. Some say, he can still feel the pain 9 years later 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The pain has shifted to his ass though.
Brilliant.
The most sane comment in the thread
Why did you even bother taking a bat out there, mate?
Lol, "let's have a cheer for Piers!" twice. Not happening XD
Thank you Brett. This continues to age like fine wine. That man's a clown 🤡
If you notice a lot of these were no balls
Yeah, they should have made Brett re-bowl them all again to double the pain lol
You’re not really facing the bowling when you turn your back and run away every delivery
LMAO.. Meghan and Harry says thank you Brett Lee! 😂
The whole world hates this man! Brett Lee should have gotten a medal for services to humanity.
Daniel Alexander should face the same situation with Jasprit Bumrah
A lot of Americans are criticising cricket here, you might be interested to know that the first ever international cricket match in the world was played between USA and Canada way back then and Philadelphia is a former cricketing stronghold
Still trash
What a load of horseshit!!
Utter BS @Asish
@@telephonic you play pussy sport with squishy ball. Cricket isn't for losers.
It looks more like a lot of Americans and everybody else expressing adulation in seeing piers morgan get beat up by the bowler
Retired brett lee bowling at 130~140 kmph.
This looks like Fears Morgan
Piers Morgan could pplay for Australia instead of Watson!
I'm American but I watched Cricket before baseball. I like both sports, but I'm a cricket fan
Always brings a smile to my face.
I think brett lee shud host a show
where u r invited to face d thunderbolts of him.
To people that are watching this and know nothing about cricket, before you type a comment full of ignorance you should do some research first.
wow...the bat didn't even get a touch of the ball
To anyone saying PM was courageous to face Brett Lee.....he didn't face him. He ran away to square leg to avoid facing him. He was more than a yard away from his crease when the ball was bowled. Facing him is standing up in your crease and trying to play the ball. The only reason PM got hit was because Lee followed him as he backed away.
Correct
First time I watched this many years ago I loved it. As a Brit watching Piers Morgan get put in his place. As an amateur cricketer appreciating how terrifying it must be to face Brett Lee at full pace! Watching again now with the knowledge of what happened to Phil Hughes I admit it feel very uncomfortable. I'm sure this would not be allowed today
Piers can run his mouth. Can't bat to save his life!
TH-cam knew what they were doing recommending this now 😂
How do u even play him? I can barely even see the ball. 😅
bet it's even quicker when Lee is bowling off a 21 yard wicket
On behalf of everyone decent in the UK, thank you Brett Lee.
Bit weak from Binga to bowl 2 metre no balls....
AR15 Cricket mate!
Absolutely no sympathy from anyone 😅😅😅
Everyone lets come together in how wonderful cricket can be
Love watching an Australian fast bowler bowl at 145+, especially in Australia. The atmosphere is insane. Hope India begins producing more bowlers like Bumrah in the future.
Brett Lee still hasn't lost it. What a guy! How do you Australians remain so fit? Its incredible.
Just curious how India's bowlers are nowadays?
@@alexwyatt7951 Not that great apart From a new bowler name,Umran malik who bowls above 145 kph but his line and length are not good so we are still finding our 150kph+ bowler!
CONGRATS ON RETAINING THE ASHES MATE!!
We’re so fit coz we’re running from kangaroos and koalas all the time
@@shanemcivor9547 why do you to run from koalas mate? they are slow af
Morgan deserved every bruise and should have grovelled a personal apology to every single English player after this embarrassing display.
This is beautiful I could watch it for hours
So much hostility, to all Americans and non cricket followers that are watching this, this isn't a very good representation of the sport of cricket, this is Brett lee battering an idiotic fool with a cricket ball.
But not hard enough!
Piers Morgan, IPL auction for $1 to Kings 11 Punjab. Chennai auctions at $0.50 and Mumbai Indians auction at $0.60 but they all lost the betting.
He should do something similar with the NRA.
They totally need to ban those semi-automatic cricket throwing arms that people like Lee are in possession of, and those high velocity cricket balls, too. I mean it must have gone over 95 MPH! Why does a ball need to head that fast? We should cap at it at 60, that way a car can outrun it legally when nutjobs go on mass cricket ball throwing sprees.
Who's here to enjoy this again after hearing Piers Morgan call us "a pack of cheating convicts"
Piers Morgan in the country that showed how gun control works!!!
Piers thought the "Morgan" factor would work for him. No Piers, you're no Eoin.
