Rocket and Yondu are some of my favourite characters in any franchise. Their bond was perfectly developed in vol.2. I never loved characters more than the ones from this saga. I don't know exactly how to put it, but Gunn just puts so much heart in his movies. Combine those amazingly flawed characters with an astounding soundtrack and great visuals, and you get why I'm way more hyped for GotG vol.3 than any other MCU movie. (Yes that includes Endgame)
@@guyr3618 Apples and oranges, really. Of course you'll get a more nuanced story when you dont have to juggle 10 years and 60 characters. Yondu's scene is definitely one of the most emotional scenes in all of the MCU, but (spoilers for endgame ahead).... ,,,, ,,,, ,,, ,,, In terms of just emotion, End Game was so much more cathartic for me. Cap wielding meow meow, Cap facing down Thanos' entire army, everyone coming back, "I am iron man", and "Avenger's assemble". I dont think I'll ever feel those feelings like I did for Endgame in a movie every again.
I’m really happy that Rocket was the only guardian who survived Infinity War since he was the only one of them whose character arch had yet to be complete in Endgame. This would be his first time being alone after the Guardians had become great friends and I can’t wait to see him finish this part of his story in Endgame!!!
I think the best evidence you need for the power of this scene is that I can’t finish your video because I’m in public and already starting to cry. Great choice for best sequence in Marvel
Started watching your video and realized I had to rewatch the second Guardians. Just finished it. Thank you so much for reminding me about this beautiful movie. I’m crying my eyes out.
i’m so happy that you did this scene. it is so much more special to me because this movie was the last marvel film i ever saw with my dad before he died. we always used to watch the marvel movies over and over, it was our special thing. this movie and specifically this scene always hits me extra hard now. your analysis of yondu was spot on, thank you for this video
Every entry in the “One Marvelous Scene” series has been phenomenal, but this scene... This scene is by far the most powerful in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the only MCU film to make me cry. Thank you for doing this scene, and thank you to James Gunn for giving these movies so much heart and depth. This movie is so good and deserves more recognition.
I came to the comments to search if anyone pointed out Captain Marvel's flaw and convince me that 'a perfect pilot who became omnipotent by doing the right thing' is relatable, but no. ENDGAME SPOILER: I'm happy SPOILER she only SPOILER appeared for SPOILER some moments SPOILER and Thanos SPOILER beat her, SPOILER but I still SPOILER rolled my eyes.
Tbh my favourite characters from Captain Marvel's movie are younger Nick Fury and the cat, then the skrulls. It's a great origin story for Fury's inspiration of the Avengers initiative and her backstory to becoming the most OP avenger but she's not as relatable since the only time we saw her struggle was when she had an identity crisis and had her powers locked away from her control. After that, she's pretty much a god. Not really sure if we have anything to build upon her character in her sequels.
@@_Deputy_ given **spoilers** he kinda has to. Although I cant help but love that this Spider Man is reminiscent of the best parts of both Iron Man and Captain America
@@_Deputy_ let's not forget what homecoming was actually about. in the end, peter defeated vulture without the suit tony made him and with just his diy gadgets and his crappy suit, and then in the end denying tony's offer to join the avengers. the whole movie was about him not relying on his suit or tony and coming into his own in in the end and relying purely on his own instincts and courage. personally, in my eyes, he's already become more of an individual by the end of his first movie.
Everyone: Cool, a new, silly superhero film! James Gunn: Hey, wanna cry like a baby? Everyone: Uhh, n- James Gunn: "It's not time to make a change, just relax, take it easy..." Everyone: 😭
As much as the visuals of this movie a real feast to the eyes, the story is what struck me the most. It pulls strings all over your heart that you dont even know exists.
Throughout the whole movie I identifyed with me and my dad as rocket and yondu. When yondu says "I am you" to rocket hit me hard. I cried and I didn't in infinity war and endgame, not even kinda, but yondu's death messed me up
Man, love your work! "And he stole batteries he didnt need" "well of course not" is my fav line in GOTG2 and I was thrilled you brought that up! Keep up the great work
I remember that my family was going through problems when this movie came out. But since we had been planning on going to the movie we all went anyways. And my Dad compared their relationship too ours. No matter how little this was, it’s a memory I will never forget.
I think you nailed how the second film builds upon the first: if the first GOTG was about sharing each other's pain, the second is learning to accept their pain. This is something I never noticed about GOTG 2 before and just thought it was a rehash of the first film's theme about family. Thank you for this video.
There were moments where I cried in Endgame for sure. But I can go back and watch the movie and fight those tears. A lot of the great moments were had when I first saw the film, so I knew what to expect. But the end of Guardians 2 never fails to make me cry. The elegance and beauty of that scene isn't beautiful just because of the scene alone, it's beautiful because of everything leading up to it. It easily holds a spot in my top 10 movies list because of this scene and because of the rest of the movie feeling like more of a passion project and less of a commercial. It' like you said HiTop, this movie's purpose is to remind everyone what Marvel was founded on, flawed characters with real emotions and problems, no matter who they are or what they fight.
I just wanted to say that the Guardians are actually my favorite in the MCU, and this video made me love them so much more. This video honestly brought me to tears and I wanna say keep making videos man! You're an inspiration and someone I look up to when I make my videos.
Hey hi top, if u read this, i really agree with u. It was heck emotional considering the cry peter gives. Plus can u do a spectacular spiderman vid, that cartoon deserves more respect
My favourite marvel scene was the “if your nothing without the suit then you shouldn’t have it” scene from homecoming because it represents Tony’s arc from the first three iron-man films and avengers: self betterment and self worth. In the first IR-M film he realizes his mistakes and try’s to fix them and partially redeem himself by becoming iron man The second was more about him coming to terms with his own self worth as he dies (he thinks that he is) and finding Solace when his father admits he loves him In Avengers cap says “take that suit off what are you?” And he responds with a joke which makes iron man three more important In IR-M 3 he doesn’t have his suit and has to use his true power: his intellect, to stop the enemy His arc his coming to terms with who he his behind the red and gold and learning from his experiences He see’s a part of himself in peter and uses his knowledge of life to help peter before his ambition causes his demise and it works peter proves that he doesn’t need the suit to be a hero (that he has the RESPONSIBILITY to balance his great POWER). And so tony gives back the suit This one line embodies starks arc and sets up peter to take his place in the MCU
i also love the fact that in his final moments, Yondu shows Peter something that is incredibly important, not only for Quill to realise, but all children around the world. Sharing DNA, and coming from their own blood does not make someone family. It is how they treat you, respect you, raise you. THATS what matters. Despite Ego's best efforts, he can never compare to Yondu, because Yondu was there when Quill's world first came tumbling down. He protected him from those who wanted to eat him. He taught him how the universe worked. He was his father. Ego missed the first 30 to 40 years of his son's life, and then attempted to use him for his personal benefit. He was never Quill's father, and that's an important lesson foster and adopted children need to know. The one who raises you and makes you a better person, and teaches you how the world works, and helps you when you fall down or make a mistake is your family, not the one who shares your DNA. In that last moment before Yondu dies, Peter realises that his father isn't Ego but Yondu. He realises that the one who he, himself, has despised for years for taking him away, was actually the one who raised him.
This was the only death that really made me cry. The thought that what Peter was looking for the whole time was right In front of him, and when he finally accepts it, he loses it. This movie was all about family, and that's why it really sticks. The guardians have to be one of the highlights of the MCU
This is the only scene in the MCU to make me cry. I am extremely happy to see that this scene is getting the recognition and praise it deserves, and a perfect explanation as to why this scene is so good
This is probably the best marvelous scene video in the entire playlist. The analysis made me cry almost as hard as the movie did. Really well done, man.
Those were the best thirteen minutes of my day. I loved Guardian V2 so much and you explained so well why. (also I got teary at least three times I don't know how to feel about that)
As a War Vet...the factions showing up to send Yondu off made me Misty eyed because I've known that kind of Brotherhood. No matter what a Brother In Arms does, if they go out...you make sure they don't go out alone.
Man rewatching the MCU is great. I find new appreciation for movies I thought were just ok when I first watched them. Rockets my 2nd favorite character in the MCU, behind Spidey, and it's basically because of the GOTG movies. I loved the first one and I thought the 2nd was just ok, until I rewatched them. I didn't hate the 2nd movie like some critics and fans did because it wasn't as good as the first, I just thought it was ok. Then I rewatched them and I think I like the 2nd movie more than the first now. The 2nd movie just flashes its characters out a lot more, especially Rocket. I still love the first one but it only dives into Rockets origin just a tiny bet and makes Nebula somewhat of a generic villain. When I rewatched the 2nd movie I realised how much it develops Rocket, Nebula, and Yondu so much more and now I love this movie because of that
The more I watch videos about Guardians 2, the more it's helped me realize that this is my favorite movie in the entire MCU, and one of my favorite movies ever. Everything, from the camera work, colors, and environments, to the character writing, story, and music are all beautifully implemented. Whenever I get the chance, I'm always more than happy to watch this wonderful movie again. I grow to love it more each, and every time.
god i watched both guardians of the galaxy movies a month ago again, and i genuinely soaked my pillow with tears. i started crying from the moment yondu saves peter and kept going even after the funeral scene. tore my heart out

Thanks for educating us on Sarah Finn she definitely deserves more credit for the tremendous work she did in the MCU
That was Nando v movies
Ugh peter told rocket that all the guardians would be there for him, only for him to be the only one to survive in infinity war 😥
Oh god I never realized that...I’m going into sadness again..😭😭
Just noticed that parallel. Makes the dust scene even sadder
Totally agree. Kinda sad that Gunn won't be directing the next one though.
@@butterbene old news, he is back in the directing seat
@@PabloOlbapPablo well, Gunn should really take that seat. GOTG isn't GOTG without him.
Yondu's death is still the most impactful scene in the MCU
Well for now that could easily change with endgame
Yep, it changed in endgame.
Still the most impactful scene for me, even after Endgame. Gunn is just a better storyteller than the Russo brothers.
@surfitlive Actually, the Russos are heavily involved in the scripting of their movies, even though they aren't credited. They often say as much.
@@guyr3618 Apples and oranges, really. Of course you'll get a more nuanced story when you dont have to juggle 10 years and 60 characters. Yondu's scene is definitely one of the most emotional scenes in all of the MCU, but (spoilers for endgame ahead)....

In terms of just emotion, End Game was so much more cathartic for me. Cap wielding meow meow, Cap facing down Thanos' entire army, everyone coming back, "I am iron man", and "Avenger's assemble". I dont think I'll ever feel those feelings like I did for Endgame in a movie every again.
I love James Gunn
You can tell he cares
Watching him behind the scenes
“He’s scared of accepting that love and having it taken away from him”
*cries in Guardians 3*
I’m really happy that Rocket was the only guardian who survived Infinity War since he was the only one of them whose character arch had yet to be complete in Endgame. This would be his first time being alone after the Guardians had become great friends and I can’t wait to see him finish this part of his story in Endgame!!!
His character arc wasn’t completed in Endgame, there are rumours that it will be a big part of Volume 3
we thought you were leaving us. please don’t you make amazing content.
I thought he was spoiling a scene. From an Endgame leak.Like probably rocket dies.
Agreed, but just a suggestion put a comma next to the "Please don't".
I think you forgot the comma. Its "please don't, you make amazing content."
I think the best evidence you need for the power of this scene is that I can’t finish your video because I’m in public and already starting to cry. Great choice for best sequence in Marvel
"I am Groot"
"He did call you twig..."
I cry every time I watch this scene. Especially Rocket's reaction. Going to grab the tissues now.
Started watching your video and realized I had to rewatch the second Guardians. Just finished it. Thank you so much for reminding me about this beautiful movie. I’m crying my eyes out.
Damnit, I've just watched Vol. 2 the other day
Ah shit, here we go again
Watched this yesterday
Who cut the damn onions here!!???
and whats so wrong with that? hits the feels everytime
goddamn dude, I've watched like 5 of these One Marvelous Scene videos and you made me legit cry. You're one hell of a writer
i’m so happy that you did this scene. it is so much more special to me because this movie was the last marvel film i ever saw with my dad before he died. we always used to watch the marvel movies over and over, it was our special thing. this movie and specifically this scene always hits me extra hard now. your analysis of yondu was spot on, thank you for this video
"Without flaws, there truly is no Marvel"
A more scathing indictment of Captain Marvel I haven't heard.
@@helig I was happy as a clam when she didn't just beat him up single-handed. Thanos still outsmarted her.
@@helig I accept your comment. *DING*
@@dandanthedandan7558 I accept your comment. *DING*
Jeez man I've never cried while watching a video on TH-cam but your analysis along with the last scene in GOTG2 has me balling like a baby.
You wanna cry some more?
Check out Lindsay Ellis' video essay on Vol. 2 and try to hold your tears back.
You probably mean "bawling" ie crying loudly but I love the image of a totally ballin' baby. Gold chains, smooth ride, a big fur coat, on a baby.

I mean...right?

Add to that casting ROBERT DOWNING JR, who was still an outcast, while the studio had wanted for a decade to cast Tom Cruise in the role.
Honestly I love this iteration of Peter Parker and Dr. Strange
Alex Andrews Dr. Strange is pretty badass, I want to see the MCU version of Peter grow into more of an individual though
@@_Deputy_ given **spoilers** he kinda has to.
Although I cant help but love that this Spider Man is reminiscent of the best parts of both Iron Man and Captain America
Tbh their just ok compared to iron man and cap america as charecters
@@_Deputy_ let's not forget what homecoming was actually about. in the end, peter defeated vulture without the suit tony made him and with just his diy gadgets and his crappy suit, and then in the end denying tony's offer to join the avengers. the whole movie was about him not relying on his suit or tony and coming into his own in in the end and relying purely on his own instincts and courage. personally, in my eyes, he's already become more of an individual by the end of his first movie.
Same lol. But the rest of the heroes, ehhh
12:47 And appropriately, Black Widow's quote on screen for the Marvel fanfare/intro is her "red in my ledger" moment from Avengers.
Everyone: Cool, a new, silly superhero film!
James Gunn: Hey, wanna cry like a baby?
Everyone: Uhh, n-
James Gunn: "It's not time to make a change, just relax, take it easy..."
Everyone: 😭
I thought I was losing my mind when 4 different channels uploaded 4 videos with the same title.
Wow he wasn’t kidding; this was his best video yet. Fair play 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Keep up the great work
When you broke down the rocket part, I teared up, despite having seen this movie at least 12 times. Thank you
It was truly Kraglin's breakdown/celebration/grieving process that broke me during that scene.
I remember that my family was going through problems when this movie came out. But since we had been planning on going to the movie we all went anyways. And my Dad compared their relationship too ours. No matter how little this was, it’s a memory I will never forget.
After GoTG 3 I had to come back to this marvellous video. U really did a great job of explaining why this scene is so good
Thank god James Gunn is back for volume 3.
Guardians of the galaxy v2 is by far my favourite marvel movie
Both GOTG movies are fucking amazin
GOTG3 is the one thing I'm waiting for(excluding Namor and Warlock) in the MCU.
The Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best character driven storytelling of the MCU
I will never not ball my eyes out whenever I hear yondu tell Peter how he truly feels and how he was lucky that he was his son.
In my eyes Yondu's the Arthur Morgan of the MCU
what happened HiTop you haven't uploaded in ages! I started getting addicted to your videos!!1
Go fuck yourself
@@tatian1547 I hate these "verified" youtubers swarming good channels and videos lol

I knew you and Nando were a team. Y’all and others truly undertand movies.
2:16 “I can’t ever see myself giving a damn about Doctor Strange 2” Sam Raimi’s ears perk up
HiTop: I can't see why I'd be excited for Doctor Strange 2
*Sam Raimi directing Doctor Strange 2*
HiTop: 😲
Is that confirmed? I know Scott Derickson left the film from creative differences but I thought that Raimi Directing was just a rumor
@@NiohArcadia yup its confirmed
this video made me incredibly emotional. i'm so glad to see someone put into words why guardians is such an impactful franchise.
The best scene in the MCU. I cried every one of the six times I've watched it...
My favourite marvel scene was the “if your nothing without the suit then you shouldn’t have it” scene from homecoming because it represents Tony’s arc from the first three iron-man films and avengers: self betterment and self worth.
In the first IR-M film he realizes his mistakes and try’s to fix them and partially redeem himself by becoming iron man
The second was more about him coming to terms with his own self worth as he dies (he thinks that he is) and finding Solace when his father admits he loves him
In Avengers cap says “take that suit off what are you?” And he responds with a joke which makes iron man three more important
In IR-M 3 he doesn’t have his suit and has to use his true power: his intellect, to stop the enemy
His arc his coming to terms with who he his behind the red and gold and learning from his experiences
He see’s a part of himself in peter and uses his knowledge of life to help peter before his ambition causes his demise and it works peter proves that he doesn’t need the suit to be a hero (that he has the RESPONSIBILITY to balance his great POWER). And so tony gives back the suit
This one line embodies starks arc and sets up peter to take his place in the MCU
I love the way Rockets face look when he first lays eyes on the little man
i also love the fact that in his final moments, Yondu shows Peter something that is incredibly important, not only for Quill to realise, but all children around the world.
I am extremely happy to see that this scene is getting the recognition and praise it deserves, and a perfect explanation as to why this scene is so good
"He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy." I held it together for 9 minutes. Love your videos, man.
When I rewatched the 2nd movie I realised how much it develops Rocket, Nebula, and Yondu so much more and now I love this movie because of that
Reminder that all the guardians are snapped and Rocket really is alone now.
ToedPens and that’s exactly what he was afraid of :((
The more I watch videos about Guardians 2, the more it's helped me realize that this is my favorite movie in the entire MCU, and one of my favorite movies ever. Everything, from the camera work, colors, and environments, to the character writing, story, and music are all beautifully implemented. Whenever I get the chance, I'm always more than happy to watch this wonderful movie again. I grow to love it more each, and every time.
Hell yeah me and my friend cried. It hit closer to home seeing as we both lost our fathers.
I've always thought Guardians 2 was criminally underrated and never completely understood. This video explains it perfectly.
Yondu was the Obi-Wan of Guardian's Of The Galaxy
Bruh.
Only a sith deals in absolutes
DEW IT
You know you don't have to care about all the heroes. You just have to care about the ones you do
god i watched both guardians of the galaxy movies a month ago again, and i genuinely soaked my pillow with tears. i started crying from the moment yondu saves peter and kept going even after the funeral scene. tore my heart out
