I was raised in SDA pastors family home, and I was baptized into Orthodox Christianity over 2 years ago. I can say that we never had free housing and my parents struggled to make ends meet. My mother made all our clothes and even learned to sew suits for my father as money was tight. Of many of the things theologically wrong withAdventism pastors getting financial gain is certainly not one I would lay at their doorstep. Lord have mercy. ☦️🙏☦️

@@Rudelherz I grew up in California. My father often left during family vacations to conduct funerals or visit sick parishioners in the hospital. We were used to getting phone calls that would interrupt our families plans. He was very dedicated to the church and I admire him for that. That said, pastors at that time and even now do not do it in the US conferences for the money….unless there is some sort of dodgy accounting going on. All of my family are still very involved with the SDA church and so I do have some idea of what current salaries are. It is not extravagant.
The foundation was laid 2000 years ago by the apostles teaching, teaching they recieved from Jesus Christ Himself. That is what I will cling to. All the law (including every one of the ten commandments, as Paul refers to them as being in the law) is fullfilled through love, for love does not wrong ones neighbor. Prophets that came saying things that contradict scripture are not to be listened to, no matter how convincing or charismatic they are. Moses said in the law to listen to The prophet to come. Jesus is that prophet to come, as was confirmed at the Mount of transfiguration by God the Father. Jesus spoke to the apostles, and the apostles past on his teaching to us. Listen to them, and those who uphold their teachings. From the very beginning there has been but one Church, One Faith, one baptism, one savior, one God. As Paul says in 1st Corinthians, don't start saying I'm of this person or that person (which can be then extrapolated to denominations, for denominations are started by, if not a single person, by people). Be people of the word of God, born again by salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

Yes others came against White. But they also changed denominations to the Calvin view. They changed not because of the Bible. But because they changed their understanding of the Bible from Arminius and Pelagius along with John Wesley to Calvinism. God is love.

As a former adventist (and Atheist) there are reasons some of us become this way. Some of it can be tied to upbringing, power dynamics within the church, and personal experience. For me it was a mix of all 3. But on top of that when you have lived your life believing you have the truth and find out that the "truth" you believed in is the lie it does shake your faith especially if it's something you grew up believing since early childhood. At around the 40:10 mark, the subject of the nature of Christ is very true. The 28 fundamental beliefs claim we can have everything Christ had. Colossians 1:16 clearly shows that we cannot. I realize that, since I don't bookface, it's unlikely that he'll see it but if Mr Daily could expand on what he meant at the end about the 'Maxwellian' view being that Jesus didn't have to die on the cross. The law of the Jews in the Decalogue was an extremely low level of morality. If the ancient abrogated Hebrew table of contents Decalogue is your moral standard you are morally bankrupt. The Decalogue was simply an executive summary of the entire Jewish law. It was never given to one gentile and was never meant to be permanent, and it’s not the moral standard new covenant believers attempt to obey. The new law of Christ isn’t a mystery. Jesus was very precise and clear when he proclaimed his law to be choosing love over and over again. The moral standard is infinitely higher than the weak, useless, and obsolete law of the Jews.

I'm not sure how many of your viewers have seen "The Bible vs Joseph Smith", but the man has a very difficult time with Joseph Smith being a false prophet. And it seems very similar with Ellen White. Hey Samuel. Thanks for your honest thoughts. Appreciation them. The church itself commissioned a 6-8 year study (I have it) that confirmed Ellen borrowed much more than was once previously thought. This alone concerns me. Many things she claimed were direct from God turned out to be copied/borrowed from other authors. There’s no way one can make that a justified thing to do.

That was a problem because some SDA had the view she was verbally inspired. Which she never claimed. There is was also the Bible fight on if the Bible was verbally inspired. When I was an agnostic. I used that view to point out. That would mean you could not translate the Bile into any other language. Also some of the mistakes in the Bible.

And that process is ok. The problem is that she claimed to have not used that process (and if she did use that process of, having come across a writer who said it better than her, why didn’t she credit that writer? People (sda apologists) love to claim that copyright laws were different then - yes they were when it came to publishing whole books. But copyright back then certainly did protect an author from the kind of copying that Ellen did. Some say that Ellen copied verbatim only about 2% of her work (which is still actually a huge amount) but the reality is her paraphrasing was so close to the original that upwards of 85% of her materiel was breaching even the copyright laws of her day. Essentially Ellen never had an original idea. Ever notion she put forward was confirmative and not predictive. In almost every case her visions simply confirmed someone else’s original idea. Or was borrowed from someone else. Or were used to censure people doing things she didn’t like. I’m not claiming she was a fraud. But I’m suggesting we look more deeply into this. I’ll be doing a show very soon about the church funded study that was carried out by the SDA church in the 80’s and was funded by them - and was essentially then covered up by ‘them’. The Bible has a book written by a false prophet as well. Jonah told Nineveh they would be destroyed in 40 days but it did not happen. Hard to believe that outside of the Bible anyone could read Step's to Christ, Desire of Ages, Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings and Christ Object Lessons and not be drawn closer to Christ. As a former adventist (and Atheist) there are reasons some of us become this way.
Some of it can be tied to upbringing, power dynamics within the church, and personal experience. For me it was a mix of all 3.
But on top of that when you have lived your life believing you have the truth and find out that the "truth" you believed in is the lie it does shake your faith especially if it's something you grew up believing since early childhood. This is from my own experience.
I am sure others can relate to some degree.

At around the 40:10 mark, the subject of the nature of Christ is very true. The 28 fundamental beliefs claim we can have everything Christ had. Colossians 1:16 clearly shows that we cannot. John 1:1 shows the same. No human was alive at creation. This fundamental belief is either delusional from Ellen White's head injury, or downright blasphemy, claiming equality with God. I really pray adventists can understand this false teaching.
New to this channel as I was looking for things from Steve Daily.
I realize that, since I don't bookface, it's unlikely that he'll see it but if Mr Daily could expand on what he meant at the end about the 'Maxwellian' view being that Jesus didn't have to die on the cross. I'm familiar with Mr Maxwell's position but haven't heard this. It was only a passing comment so it's hard to understand what Mr Daily meant and I'd like to hear more.

Another accusation without evidence. Again, I've interacted with many, many former Adventists and have heard this claim innumerable times. But you know what? It's patently untrue. Ellen White never set a date for the return of Christ. I am less sure whether others may have done so, but there certainly was never a church endorsed date set for Christ's return.
In this video Daily has accused others of lying a number of times. Apparently he thinks lying is a bad thing, so I would think he'd be able to supply evidence to back up this charge. Could someone who knows Dr. Daily reach out and ask him to share evidence to back up his claim?

Jesus successfully accomplished His Atonement at the Cross and fulfilled the law's demands, Steve Dailey said and certainly true and Des Ford preached this too. But as Des Ford always said, the law still remains as a standard of living for the Christian, not for our redemption, for the law could never do that but as principles to live by. I think that like Des, Steve Dailey would agree with this, and wish Dailey would have revealed more about why the Sabbath he gestured as believing was not kept in principle as all the rest of the law certainly is, for no follower of Jesus is to take images and bow to them or worship them, and we do not murder, steal, lie or cheat.
We are now under the law of the Spirit, and the law of Christ, which, like everything else with the New Covenant, are better than the Old Covenant.

I never kept the Sabbath cause of Colossians 2:16. All other 9 commandments are in the New Testament . God created the New Testament for a reason ! It's a new covenant . The law of the Jews in the Decalogue was an extremely low level of morality. If the ancient abrogated Hebrew table of contents Decalogue is your moral standard you are morally bankrupt. The Decalogue was simply an executive summary of the entire Jewish law. It was never given to one gentile and was never meant to be permanent, and it’s not the moral standard new covenant believers attempt to obey. The new law of Christ isn’t a mystery. Jesus was very precise and clear when he proclaimed his law to be choosing love over and over again. The moral standard is infinitely higher than the weak, useless, and obsolete law of the Jews.

I'm not sure how many of your viewers have seen "The Bible vs Joseph Smith", but the man has a very difficult time with Joseph Smith being a false prophet. And it seems very similar with Ellen White. A lot of my family are adventist, and it's not easy to tell them their "diamond" is a counterfeit. -Matthew 7:15
They are not second or third generation adventist, so they don't really know about the shut door teaching, or Ellen White eating meat and pork, or saying she would be among the living 144,000 when Christ returns. I don't know how anyone can study the shut door teaching of Ellen White and think it's biblical.

I feel that you guys want us SDA's to believe more in what you guys say, than what Ellen G White has said. Hey Samuel. Thanks for your honest thoughts. Appreciation them. The church itself commissioned a 6-8 year study (I have it) that confirmed Ellen borrowed much more than was once previously thought. This alone concerns me. Many things she claimed were direct from God turned out to be copied/borrowed from other authors. There’s no way one can make that a justified thing to do.
@@SDAQandA From my memory what she did is. When she found words that were better than her own she would use them. White was not verbally inspired. She was given thought. That was a problem because some SDA had the view she was verbally inspired. Which she never claimed. There is was also the Bible fight on if the Bible was verbally inspired. When I was an agnostic. I used that view to point out. That would mean you could not translate the Bile into any other language. Also some of the mistakes in the Bible.

And that process is ok. The problem is that she claimed to have not used that process (and if she did use that process of, having come across a writer who said it better than her, why didn’t she credit that writer? People (sda apologists) love to claim that copyright laws were different then - yes they were when it came to publishing whole books. But copyright back then certainly did protect an author from the kind of copying that Ellen did.
Some say that Ellen copied verbatim only about 2% of her work (which is still actually a huge amount) but the reality is her paraphrasing was so close to the original that upwards of 85% of her materiel was breaching even the copyright laws of her day.
Essentially Ellen never had an original idea. Ever notion she put forward was confirmative and not predictive. In almost every case her visions simply confirmed someone else’s original idea. Or was borrowed from someone else. Or were used to censure people doing things she didn’t like.
I’m not claiming she was a fraud. But I’m suggesting we look more deeply into this. I’ll be doing a show very soon about the church funded study that was carried out by the SDA church in the 80’s and was funded by them - and was essentially then covered up by ‘them’. Hard to believe that outside of the Bible anyone could read Step's to Christ, Desire of Ages, Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings and Christ Object Lessons and not be drawn closer to Christ. The Holy Spirit using the Bible along with those books has transformed my life!!
