  • This is a tutorial on how to manually adjust the OPV on a Nuova Simonelli Oscar espresso machine. The OPV mod parts are from www.elektros.it.... They have all the parts you'll need to get your Oscar modded out to the max. Also, the beans we've been using lately are Cat & Cloud's "The Answer" roast. Check them out at catandcloud.com/. You can also buy their beans from Amazon and get yourself that free 2-day shipping if you're a Prime member.

This is so cool. Reminds me of overclocking a CPU. You have to do a lot of minute changes in frequency to get it to the most efficient overclock speed. Love it.

That's the expansion valve. The opv is on top of the boiler.

And what kind of bottomless did you get? I bought a cafelat and it is very loose. Are you using the NS double basket ?

Hi! I've installed the OPV and have since seen other potential improvements for my Oscar 2. You were my inspiration to do it!
I have read up on modifying the flow with a Synesso ruby flow restrictor/gigler at the solenoid valve, removing the 0.7mm gigler from pump (07300860), installing a 3.2mm gigler on a hot side of the group, and relocating the original hot side gigler 3mm (07300225) to the cold side of the group
Have you tried anything like that?
I tried to replace the 3.0mm giglers but the nuts on the copper pipes are stuck. I assume there is calcium build up. I don't want to break the copper pipe to open it up. Any suggestions? Thank you so much for the great information and your help!

Hi, just hopping on your comment because some of these videos and comments are old and it's refreshing to see someone recently tinkering with these machines! I know you asked for assistance, but it sounds like you have more experience than I do and I could really use some help with my Oscar I which I bought secondhand a few months back. My steaming pressure has been inconsistent; sometimes I can't steam more than 1 drink's worth of milk and sometimes the pressure will fade out to almost nothing before I can even finish one drink's milk. I can't remember if this was happening before I changed my steam tip to a La Marzocco tip, but I don't think so. Is there a valve I need to install or fix to help this? I haven't run a descale since I've obtained the machine, but I don't know if that's the issue because sometimes the steam seems just find and other days I just can't get enough steam going. This has been an issue for a bit so I hope you see this and could spare a few minutes to help me out; thank you!

My espresso is watery do you think lowering the pressure will make it better. Water is way to fast I do a shot in under 8 seconds!

Either your grind is much too coarse or the grinds are poorly distributed & tamped (or both).

    Hello mate !
Can you do that on a factory machine or you need to upgrade parts inside first ?
    Thanks
