Really surprised Jomboy didn’t mention the hat falling off the second pitchers head after every pitch. That was hilarious.
That second pitcher might be related to Ron Swoboda. Hat always coming off just from running!
Not that it matters now, but I would think there's a rule against that? Gotta be distracting for the hitter if a hat is flopping off after every pitch
@@pooty195 That's what I'm saying. Looks like the kid just doesn't wanna put on the hat too tight because it will ruin his hair, lol
Kid was wearing it like a top hat lmao
I think he tries to focus on the positive when it's kids.
Are we gonna ignore that this was the greatest announcer jinx in sports history lmao. "Curacao hasn't given up a homerun all tournament...Oh shit"
Karl Ravich is famous for this lol
I love how he kinda paused and waited for the pitch to! Almost like he knew it was going to be a bomb!
@@cnote9958he knew ahead of time
Yes let's ignore it since it means nothing
Did that really happen. I hate when they do that.
I guarantee he will never forget this moment. A homerun to win it, as a little leaguer it doesnt get any better than that. Congratulations to them
Chicken little scene
You’re really going out on a limb with that statement
Idk man, this is just a regular Saturday for a guy like me
They throw beans at them for batting practice in the Latin countries
He is 12 and just won it all. That’s a huge forever memory
What an amazing experience that will be for him to reflect on in the future. I still look back fondly on my days in Little League.
How washed up are you?
Same here. Made a lot of friends that I still talk to till this day and many memories. I'm talking 1985-87. 🥹
Same!
I love thinking about that when I see these LLWS videos. That kid will carry this for his entire life. Really neat for him and the team
Did you play in the LLWS? Guessing not. Most people don’t talk to anyone they know at 12 years old 30 years later. It’d be different if they were 16+ bc then you’d still be in touch with them!
The reason he pushed past the third base coach to stomp on the plate was he had a homer in an earlier game in which he was momentarily ruled out because the other team said he never touched home plate. Call was overturned on video replay but from then on he said he'd leave no doubt.
What a tic-tacy way to try to rob a kid of a dinger. I hate those kind of rules.
Went from, "damn, that kid's a big 12 y/o" to teary eyed seeing a dad proud of his son.
That grand slam must’ve been the most satisfying moment the kid has ever had in baseball, up until they lost the game.
Edit: I’m aware they lost the game, but it’s still a good moment for the kid.
No. Ya think?
Its all downhill from here
Followed by crushing disappointment. But yeah at the time that must've ruled.
you are right aboutthat @@ace2585
He's 12. He's got time
I still remember when my son’s great grandfather flew across the country to visit and he went to see the only baseball game he ever watched with my son in it. This was his only chance to watch him play, as he had terminal cancer and only had months left to live. My son pitched for the win and hit a two run homer to help his team. I still think it was the best effort he made in his entire career at youth baseball. After the game he told his great grandfather, “that was for you, grandpa.” I still get choked up when I repeat that story. Oh, that incredible young boy is now the head football coach at one of the most successful football programs in our state.
Thanks for sharing! Best to you and your son!
I love the kids face as soon as he smokes that ball. The jaw immediately drops. He's almost like, "holy crap I freaking did it"
"that one's a strike"
"That one's called a strike"
I love Jomboy! 😂😂
Haha yup those little subtle bonus commentaries mixed in there
"Is that a tooth, coach?" LMAO
You gotta do the angels own player throwing the ball at his own pitchers head it was a wild play
The only homerun I ever hit was on my parents' anniversary. Not only was it a Grand Slam, but we ended up losing the game too, so I know exactly how both these teams were feeling - *what a ride!*
no you don't. be quiet.
Wow that's exactly the same thing
So great to see the dedication these young kids have to win!
This was a great World Series, and all the teams did really good. There is always next year to those of you who had to go home without the title.
....not if they're gonna be 13😂
@@PMurray2694 they have a little league world series for 12, 13, 14 and i think a few more ages but its not as big as the 12u tournament
Coach had me a little worried about that double hand head grab after Spain
Curacao should be proud of their accomplishments. They had to go thru Chinese Taipei with that pitcher who threw 80mph. They beat them on a single mistake from a bunt. Losing to a walk off is not a bad beat like a bad call from the ump or something. These kids gave us better baseball than the Oakland athletics have in the last 5 years. Hats off to them all.
That dad felt every second of that play, greatest moment of his life was watching his son win. So fucking cool.
Believe it or not, I actually know this kid. I know him pretty well in fact. We have played travel ball together for around 3 years now. When I heard this happened I was pumped for him. Congrats Louis Lappe!
These kids got to live the dreams that we all had in the 90s and early 2000s. Lucky for them they have television to record their moments they'll never forget for the rest of their lives.
And of course they have Jomboy who immortalized the moment...
Pretty sure LLWS was on TV even in the 90s. Do you think we were using gas lamps and carriages in 1998 or something?
Uh, kids have been dreaming about the LLWS since it started in 1947.
Ahh little league. The only baseball I've ever played and all I did was stare at my feet and kick dirt. 😅 we went undefeated that year
What a beauty of a swing. Right on the money. Well done to both teams! You rocked it, fellas!
I just moved to the very suburb these kids are from. Was there to see the celebration down Main St. as they came back, was surreal to move to the place where the Little League champions are now in.
Thanks for covering this game. Watching it was more entertaining than 99% of all MLB games. Loved your summary too, although I thought you would cover the bat flip of all bat flips!?
It was awesome especially because the community has been very supportive. They had a welcoming little parade for them. I work in that town and it’s all everyone has talked about today.
Cheers from Long Beach, what a tournament for those kids!
what’s crazy is that kid who hit the walk off is 6’1 165lbs or something like that, dudes a 12 year old unit
"12"
Man this year's LLWS was epic
50 years ago, I remember my LL grand-slam. My dad paid a kid for the ball before it was turned into the concession stand for a snow cone. Those were the days. Tears were in my eyes as I watched this
That’s a sick memory
Was watching this live and I broke down in tears 😂 Played baseball all throughout little league 20 years ago and wow those memories all came to the surface 😭
I thought Coach was holding up a doobie when he said, "Remember that?" 🤣
I was waiting for this. I think we all were. Instant classic
That kid just made himself a memory that he wont ever forget. Good for him.
I love seeing these kids so happy. Both teams had amazing moments
Both home runs were such great pieces of hitting. The grand slam where the Curaçao kid took the outer half fastball and sent it opposite field, and the walkoff pouncing on the pitching mistake
The ultimate announcer jinx. "Curacao has not given up a home run during this World Series"....and here's the pitch.....boom!
Was an outstanding game not just for the drama at the end, but also the great defense throughout from both teams with no errors. Impressive showing by both clubs.
love you breakdowns (and everything else lol). 2 things you didn't mention that I thought were cool (and hopefully not totally made up), but after Lappe hit walk-off, he take off helmet and then puts it back on, I think you can see the 2nd base ump motioning him to put it back on. maybe it's a silly LL rule, or just annoying ump. 2nd - at the very end when Cali is celebrating there's 1 kid who's just bawling his eyes out. nice to see how much this means to them... and I've gotta say - the level of play is insane! they need to start thinking of a bigger diamond
This was an amazing game to watch. Grand slam by Curaçao to tie game and walk off home run by California to win!
This game was awesome, been waiting for this one
Awesome game and awesome highlights. That’s gotta be such a fun moment man. Love the breakdowns Jimmy
Will be so cool to see a Jomboy Breakdown "Look Back" to these some day when these same kids are getting Jomboy Breakdowns in the Majors!
Jimmy, you missed the first pitcher for Cal tieing his shoes, I expected you to tear him up for doing the bunny ears. Lol
The LLWS was my favorite part of every summer growing up. I desperately wanted to play in in and obviously walk off every game, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. But it was so entertaining and it’s so nostalgic.
Curaçao made it to the championship game two years in a row and lost in devastating fashion both times. Gotta feel for those kids…
We are also the international champions for 3 years straight
technically 3 years they made it in 2019, llws was canceled in 2020, and 2021 was united states teams only
Wishing all the best to these kids! That swing at the end was a beauty!
Good to see hard work pay off. And props to all the kids putting in work all over the world.
I remember watching the grand slam on live TV in a restaurant with my friends, and then everyone going crazy when the walk off happened and the guy making food running out of the kitchen to celebrate!🤣
I like how to talk about remembering this grand slam as if it wasn't a few days ago.
Little League was my glory days, and I didn't even come close to sniffing a trip away from the local league. I can only imagine the euphoria these kids are experiencing and still probably not come close to knowing.
Totally awesome moment, especially when I have connections to the city. Knowing El Segundo, the parade next week is going to be HUGE.
We need a breakdown of the kid’s catch at the diamondbacks game on Friday.
This had the biggest commentator curse I've ever heard
This is why sports are great. It encapsulates the roller coaster of life in a concise moment of time. The emotions that bond families/teammates together for life. The snapshots of the parents are priceless.
El Segundo is the hometown of George Brett. Maybe in a couple of years we would know it as the hometown of Louis Lappe.
I’ll never get over how bad the strike zones are in the LLWS. I’ve called LL, HS, and JuCo. I prefer LL because those kids are still learning so it’s satisfying to help them learn. I see some of these pitches being called strikes and just can’t fathom calling them. That 2nd strike on the batter before the GS was egregious. I understand expanding the zone at that age, but they’ve still got to be able to touch the dang ball. If he would’ve swung at that it would’ve hit him. Also the 1st pitch to the kid after the GS… just… no. There’s no age group that’s a strike in, especially during a LL Championship game. I know they’re “volunteers”, but that’s bad.
Thx you sir. That 2nd strike to Wiel was a horrible call. So true what you wrote and how you explained. I agree totally. Blessings from Willemstad Curacao
The umps stand off to the inside, and it seems like that results in an extra six inches of strike zone off the plate.
You're right - a 5' kid can't even cover that with his bat.
The "remembwr that"
Was cu the kid who hit that homeruns AND the game winner against Venezuela with 2 strikes and 2 outs in the top of the 6th, had been struggling THROUGHOUT the entire regionals. And the coach told him and I quote because they said this on the TV after asking him "we didn't bring you on the team to preform well in the regionals, we brought you on the team so you can perform well at WILLIAMSPORT"
So that's where the remember that came from.
I have only been following Little League baseball on TH-cam for the past few weeks, what entertainment these kids have. Lappe provides real entertainment . Congratulations to these kids - they sure deserve it 💯
I hope this is not the peak moment for this young man. I hope this propels him to even more greatness in whatever he does.
at 1:42 …. 1 the pitcher is a savage for trying to get the hitter off the plate with an inside pitch. 2 it is also one of the worst strike calls i’ve ever seen.
That kids face as he made contact: that moment in sports where you just know.
That is some crazy heads up clutch factor. You can see the pitcher deliver normally when he throws his breaking ball, and when he throws that gas he does a little pump fake acceleration - which you can see Segundo batter absolutely lock in on it when he notices the tell. The bat comes up way early and his lizard brain just fires every synapse in his body
The California pitcher that let up the grand slam couldn’t keep the hat on his hear
That was probably the smoothest celebration by a sports squad ever to be honest, perfect aesthetics
1:18 I believed that's an un-popped kernel meant for popcorn. You use them with soft toss to help focus on keeping your eye on the ball.
YES!!! Another Jomboy gem!!!
What an awesome moment for these kids, surely there weren't any weird comments on Instagram related to this event
I'm almost to afraid to ask, but now I'm curious.
Surely not, but if there was, what would they say?
That Ump camera angle was soo cool! I’ve never seen that before
Surely Talkin Jake didn’t comment something extremely weird under the original IG Post
What I miss?
What did he say?
I was worried the bat flip was gonna hit someone 😂
I wonder where it landed, but it may not have yet...
Good catch, the bat went into the stands with that flip.
What a great game. Man I love the llws.
Giants vs. Braves yesterday: 3-1-4-2 double play
Nuff said. :)
Major props to the California pitcher for closing out the inning
Great breakdown Jimmy! LLWS was great this year.
If you get the chance, go see some games in Williamsport. Awesome atmosphere.
Was watching. Could not believe Curacao pitched to Lappe. He was rakin the whole Series. Back to back losses in the championship for Curacao. Tough kids to make it back.
That shot with the coach and the walk-off kid was a shot straight from a movie
Big respect for getting the Shady Rays promotion on a video where sunglasses play the leading role.
I know what it feels like to be that dad. I miss youth sports so much. My boys are grown now, but they both were studs on the football field back when it mattered.
I'm not kidding when I say right before the homerun, the announcer said, "Curacao has not allowed a homerun at the World Series." Three seconds later, Louis Lappe was like..."Allow me to change that."
Lol at the hat falling off on every pitch
I've played that scenario a thousand times in my backyard when I was that age.... congratulations!!
i'm getting old, so i'm gonna give a little 'get those kids some haircuts'! haha
Let’s not forget TalkinJake commenting “This kids gonna get so LAIDDDDDD” on the IG post before getting questioned into deleting 🧐
Such a good game with some incredible little ball players!
45 years later and I still remember plays I made in LL.
Thought the coach was about to pull some Spanish soccer shenaningans and kiss the poor kid 😂
This game was awesome!!
Man, baseball is fun, wow!
Love this breakdown
your freaking funny asf lmfao im dying over here at work
It's great if my country, the US, and state, Cali, wins but congrats to all the kids for making it this far. I hope they all had fun, for the most part.
2:41 heart break in 1 frame. Tough loss, those kids will come back so strong next season
California jubilant, Curacao devastated by a walk-off home run. Great game and what a way to end this year's Little League World Series.
Awesome!! Congratulations to these kids.
Narration is perfectly awesome!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 woohoo gj California..I'm in Sacramento right now, where I live so I'm happy!! Was scared we'd lose it though..they fought back hats off to them ❤
Is it just the thing to do now in LL to stand on top of home plate. Both homerun hitters were all over the plate.
do we have video of the bat flip at 3:32? Looked like he sent that thing to the moon!
California little league with Gerrit Cole pitching vs Yanks with Rodon, who you got?
Think the LLWS Champs could shut out the Yankees on their own this year. That team’s offense is pathetic.
If California is pitching for 46/60 I got cali
I think something I wish got more attention was the shortstop jumping up and down knowing that ball was absolutely crushed and they lost.
El Segundo's manager dodged a huge bullet after Lappe bailed him out with that Home Run. Not bringing in Brooks when it was still 5-1 with 5 outs to go was one of the dumbest non moves ever! If El Segundo would have lost that game, that manager would have taken so much heat for the rest of his life for blowing what was a sure victory. After their #6 pitcher on the roster gave up the grand slam, Brooks looked so pissed when they showed him at short stop.
I was wondering what that exchange was all about at 1B right after the grand slam
