The Stig set a time of 01:17.5, which makes it the fastest Mercedes on the Top Gear Test Track! Taken from Top Gear, Series 22, Episode 4.

I don't think it matters, If F1 drivers can race while listening and talking to their engineers, music, that you can block out in your head would do nothing.
Ric Rac Yeah but most in race communication occurs when the driver can afford to be slightly distracted like during straights or sections that aren't too difficult. You would have the mechanic talking to you whilst you were overtaking someone around a corner

But you don't have to actively listen or pay attention to music, a proper driver can keep stuff like music, pain, heat and all sorts of things out of mind, it's called focusing on the task at hand.

it was designed by Lotus to really test the limits of the cars

Usually you feel faster when looking at the in-car camera. When Stig's driving, in-car camera feels much slower than the outside camera. It's weird.

I come from Austria and I'd like to know who is faster. Richard Hammond and The Stig with the new Lamborghini Huracan, but Richard gets 7 seconds ahead. If they show this in your TV show, I would be very happy.

This has 503bhp and the Jag F-Type R has 542hp yet the Merc is faster around the track by about 4 seconds. Either THIS is amazing, or the Jag is crap.

Smooth lap, not as much wheel-sawing as was with the Lamborghini Huracan. I wouldn't mind a POV shot of the Stig taking the C7 Corvette on a lap.

This isn't the power lap. There are no cameras around.
It's a Power Lap. It's just not included in the show. LOL how can you say that it's not a Power Lap when the BBC themselves already mentioned in the video title that it's a Power Lap? In case your mind is still processing the previous sentence, this YT channel, "The Stig", and "Top Gear" are both maintained by the BBC. Seriously...

Because it's still a functional runway. Also why the X's on the runway appear to have been lifted/removed.
STAG162 for light aircraft perhaps but it's a random swissair plane that doesn't seem to exist in their past/present fleet

and regardless of the 'fleet' currently in use, you also mentioned it was a 'disused airfield', which obviously it isn't. Technically it can be used to cater for any aircraft up to say a 737 (depending on size of the runway), fleet aircraft or not.
STAG162 disused as in it only houses light aircraft and doesn't excuse the fact that plane isn't in their fleet but carries their logo
*Any* aircraft can use that runway if needed. Not disused. ;)

The Mercedes uses its power better because it has more traction. The Ferrari (in Assetto Corsa lol) is barely driveable without traction control.

Simply put, the Merc is better. It was made to beat Porsches, so it's not just another GT car made by AMG, it's a bit more serious (or less serious, depending on how you look at it) than that.

That's bullshit.
458 Special is about 3 seconds faster per lap than a Nissan GTR Nismo from 2015 for example....and about 2 seconds than a 911 GT3. And that's a short 3,5km track. Go check out the EVO magazine test. Or you can check american tests...for example, on VIR the regular 458 is about 2 seconds per lap faster than a ZO6 or ZR1, I'm not sure, but it was the fastest road car they tested until a year ago. Fact is, Ferraris are hard to drive on the limit unless you know what you're doing.
Another fact is, Ferrari is not making cars to post fast lap times. Faster lap times don't mean a better car. They tune their cars to be as enjoyable to drive as possible. There's a lot of psychology in the way they develop cars. Ferrari does it better than anyone else in the world, that's why they feel so good to drive. They will sometimes purposefully make a decision that makes the car slower, simply because it feels better. For example....slightly less torque can make the car feel more stable and more planted on the corner exists, so they will do it, instead of having more torque that will make the car twitchy, etc. My uncle works as an engineer in Ferrari, I'm an engineer as well, I understand how much effort goes into what they do.
