    I have watched dozens of Maschine integration videos for Live, LPX and this is the first one to make real sense. Most are just concerned with drums. Great job! Thanks so much.

    You did a very good thing making this video. Thank you.
    I'm very very irritated however that NI still hasn't, in the two years since, updated Maschine with at least a template to do all this.
    If we can all go in and do this stuff, and they definitely know that people want to run Maschine this way in their DAW, why the f**k didn't they just have their programmers do all this stuff, and in Preferences have "Cubase Integration Setting"? It would literally have taken them 15 minutes, as your video illustrates.
    The part that really infuriates me is that if you use a general midi controller to record a Maschine track in Cubase, it *just works*. None of those steps from the video, no routing, no nothing - it just works. Which again, means NI could have set up the Maschine controller the same way.
    Completely insane.

    Hey, just a quick word to thank you, I have developed a template based on your explanations to get Cubase to work with Maschine and Elgato's Stream Deck. The upgrade in terms of workflow ease and speed is just insane. I use the Stream Deck to call track archives and launch packs of VSTi tracks with just the push of a button. For those who don't know, the drag & drom MIDI exchange between Cubase and Maschine can be puzzling if you don't set Cubase to import MIDI files as a single track in your preferences.

  • @BackboneNF
    @BackboneNF 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Very good Video for CUbase Maschine Users!
    You can drag and drop into one midi part.
    Just go into cubase preferences under midi import and do import to one part the you don´t have all the other midi channels created.

    Thank you D-One.
    There are a load of videos claiming to explain this, but yours seems to be the clearest.
    Having said that, there is no excuse for NI to not make a simple drag and drop feature from Maschine to DAW - at the moment it's needlessly long-winded, tiresome and old fashioned - and I'm saying this five years after you uploaded the video and yet they STILL haven't done it!

    • @D-One
      @D-One  ปีที่แล้ว

      No prob, thanks! Well, they cant guess how you want things configured so it can't really be automatic, unless 'options' are removed and you forced to stick with whatever workflow NI thinks is best 🤷‍♂

    I'm having a problem with my maschine Studio. When I change Destination to "host" and in Cubase I change All Midi Inputs to Maschine - Out I can record and hear it well when it's already recorded BUT when I play with Maschine it sounds DOUBLE. Weird thing is, if I change to All Midi Inputs and I play it with the keyboard, it does sound normal and it records. I don't really know what to do... but this is driving me nuts!

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When using this method recording to Maschine-VST is not a viable option anymore, you have to record to the MIDI track on the DAW... If you're transferring the MIDI to the DAW to arrange there's no reason to record to Maschine. If you ant to keep MIDI in Maschine-VST then theres no need to MIDI route and have this trouble, just route the audio.

    Very useful video, great stuff man! I did this before when I got Micro MK2 a couple of years ago. Now I got MK3 and while reading the manual, I was having a look back again at tutorials too, just to refresh my mind. I stopped here to this new tutorial that impressed me 'cause this is exactly the kind of integration I did and my way to use it, with the only difference that I use 2 instances of Maschine, one with a single group as a drum machine and one with multiple groups as a sampler. in order to achieve 16 separate outs for the drums and the same for the sampler. So I ask to you, one thing that I've never been able to do: with this setup, if for some reason I create a new group and want to record something but INSIDE the Maschine's sequencer, what happens is that as I press record on Maschine's hardware, it records everything coming in, and automatically changing groups focus. Is there someway to avoid this? Have you never tried this? Thanks in advance for your attention and for your good input to the Maschine community :) Peace!

    Dope video, you could just get komplete kontrol and put a whole bunch of instances on cubase drums, keys, bass, whatever else you want that way your already ready for your final arrangements after recording all your parts. But maschine does give less of a linear feel with the ideas view for some creativity. Just thought I would mention komplete kontrol comes in handy.

    • @D-One
      @D-One  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello :) While attempting to make a template with no sounds so they can added later I realized it makes very hard to explain and test in a video so the viewer can be sure its working if there are no sounds.... So im trying to figure out a way of doing it that wont confuse users who arent used to routing MIDI. Im also considering to just make a bunch of different templates for several scenarios that people can just download and modify.

    Nice one - I am thinking of getting a Maschine Studio as my fiurst "drum controller" beenm doing Cubase for 15 years now. I currently have a Nektar panorama P1 but it's not that handy for mixing. Can you map the transport controls onto the Maschine interface?

    • @D-One
      @D-One  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Yeah, the Studio is able to control transport on Cubase, by default you have:
      Play, Stop, Loop On/off, rewind and fast-forward, the record button will still control Maschine Software but you can remap a button to enable record, also fully switch the unit to MIDI Mode.
      In MIDI mode there are templates to fully control the mixer and many other things (MCU).
      Just be aware that if you buy Maschine Studio to have it work as a drum instrument like Battery in DAW only you will be missing on most of what it can do. If you're ok with that it can be a good investment.

    SUCH A DOPE VIDEO! I noticed on your updated illustration the drum sounds midi input source says "default" but you set the keys and base input source to "host" Is that because you were using Kontact or something? Not really sure of the difference..

    Hi my friend! Thanks for the video! when you multi out put on maschine, you lose all the FX from the group chain, right? Is there a way to overcome this? I feel I lost a a huge ammount of good processing on those kits when multi outputing and I don't know if I just need to replace this FX chain inside cubase or really start from scratch each piece from the kit. Thanks!

      Yes. Outputting the Pad/Sounds bypasses Group and Master FX. The lib/expansions usually have simple Group FX like Limiters or Maximizers, it's easy to make a bus/broup on the DAW and replicate it with stock Cubase plugs.

    Thank you for this tutorial. It is very clear and thorough. Just one question: is it possible to have Maschine do it's own thing inside this template? For instance: while in this template I press record on the Maschine hardware does only Maschine go into record, so I can lay down a beat untiI I am satisfied without the Cubase cursor running down the timeline? Hope my question makes sense.

      Maschine's record button will always record to Maschine only but the cursor/playhead is always synced, there no way to un-sync it. You can make the play/stop maschine buttons to control Cubase using "Controller Editor" "Host Control Option"

    Also I wanted to ask what's the purpose of the "drumkit" mode for the Group MIDI input. I was under the impression it does exactly what you show here for your first group in a single click except it's pretty much useless as soon as you have at least another group because when in drumkit mode the group receives MIDI on all channels indifferetnly. Am I right?

      Hi Sam. Yeah, basically. Drumkit mode is mainly for the Komplete Kontrol Keyboards, it can work for some other situations but it has no MIDI channel selection so if you set it in a DAW there's no way separate things... It also has no Group transpose so you're stuck with the way Maschine maps it's pads (starts on C1 while most DAW start on C3)

      Go thru the typical steps of debugging why the plugin does not show up:
      Check your Plugins path folder, see if it is there where it should be.
      Check if Cubase is not blacklisting the plugin.
      Manually delete the Maschine VST and reinstall.
      if all fails ask in the NI forum or google it.

    Thanks for this just what I needed. I am have problems with recoding and playing back within Cubase. Some of the pads are triggering 2 sample when I record, then when I play back those pads (samples) are not playing. It seems although I have the start note at c3, it's actually place a different note in cubase. Can anyone help?

      Helping you thru a comment section is gonna be hard. If you want I can take a look at your project and spot where you messed up, I am a mod in the NI forum and easy to find, link in the description.

    That is what I needed! Thank you very much for this video! Unfortunately I have the same problem as Ruidos Rados. I have watched your tutorial several times and I am sure I didn´t miss anything. Everything works like in your tutorial but if have recorded some sounds from Maschine in Cubase, I can not listen to them afterwards (even I can see the recorded notes). If I drag and drop some midi from Maschine into Cubase, this problem does not appear, everything works and I can listen to it. Please help, otherwise I have to jump out of the window ;-)
