It is so strange how just one visit can change your perspective on a place completely. I went to Syria about ten years ago while studying religion, and it has made it so much closer than other conflicts. Empathy is a strange phenomenon, indeed. I have the same experience as you, having been around the entire country. My heart really bleeds for Aleppo and Palmyra.

Wow 😱 Your passion for travelling these uncommon places is so inspiring. It is beyond amazing to see you throwing out all the bullshit that western media portrays and showing the truth and real beauty of these countries. As an Australian 🇦🇺 we are told on the news that Syria is a dangerous place that is continually in war but thankfully you are showing the reality of the situation. Keep travelling, keep inspiring and keep chasing your dreams ❤️
Okay but syria is continually in war and its sad🤧 i should know, i have family who are syrian refugees. And im half syrian. Obviously as shown in the video not all of it is bad but it is hard to live there. Its definetly not a great place to live but it is a beautiful country and its a shame what has happened
Guys, Damascus is safe and beautiful and good to live in as long as you are not an opponent of the regime. But I dare you to go to other parts of the country. It´s good to see the people of a country not only as victims, but at the same time, please keep in mind that she is filming from a very privileged perspective. The Syrian people I now can only dream of a vacation there like that. They probably wouldn´t survive it.
My friend don’t listen to them cuz every one say oh there is war in Syria and if you gonna travel to Syria you gonna die, but this is not true we have war in the north of Syria.but I promise you, if you want to travel to Syria you have to enjoy in the oldest city in the world Damascus !
As a Pakistani, I'll say this to my Syrian brothers and sisters. You've gone through hell in the last couple of years so much so that your country was demonized and abandoned. As a Pakistani, I completely understand and have lived through the ravages of terror as well as experienced the damaging consequences of negative stereotyping. You're a strong people and Insha'Allah will conquer this crisis, heal and rebuild your country. Just hang in there. So much of love and blessing to the remarkable people of Syria from Pakistan :)
@@ayhank.8512 No, Syria was going to be even more richer and glorious than before. That's when Turkey, France, the UK, the USA, Israel and many terrorist organizations decided to wipe out all the progresses made.
As Serbian i have learned a lot in school about Syria and your rich history.. Makes me so sad that this beautiful country with very nice people got destroyed.. We had similar path going through crises in post 20 years.. Stay strong Syria! When all this is over we will stand as winners!!!
I guess it's fair to be a little surprised at Damascus looking like a normal, happy place, but keep in mind that's because it's the capital, a stronghold for the government and the middle class. There was little to no fighting there. Go to the suburbs like Daraya, Douma, or Ghouta, and you'll see what most poor Syrians are actually dealing with these days.
You may think that because it's the capital there was no fighting here, yet Damascus suffered a lot and those suburbs are very close to the city, so the fighting there affected the city very badly. I mean you could also find pour people living in very hard conditions in the capital. I'm not saying all thing are perfect here but it's much better than what would anyone expect from the situation the capital was in last year.
Thank you so much Eva for making this video and show it to the world, I left Damascus in 2013, I lived in Egypt for 7 years waiting to return safe, but 7 years broke my hope of going back, now I live in Canada. With a broken heart, I watched your video, remembering how long I was away, and how can all my memories and life I had in all these places are feeling so old now, with still no hope of returning anytime soon, I don't have a home there anymore, all my friends and family left the country or get missing or dead. Watching your video made me smile with tears in my eyes, and thank you for that.
As a Syrian, I want to thank you so much. I admire how you shared your journey so warmly and ended with a very sincere and respectful message. I cant return to to my country yet, but seeing it through your eyes gave me a beautiful taste of home. Thank you for sharing the beauty of Syria, for respecting our country and for being such a wonderful human being. I am now a dedicated subscriber. All my wishes for more beautiful journeys. P.S. You have experienced Syrian generosity in Damascus; the Syrians abroad are equally welcoming. This was one of my first videos to see how life is like there, other the just the conflict which happened. I have a met several Syrians as well as added some on my Instagram, very, very nice people.
As someone from UK, this video honestly affected me. I hate how our country interprets this beautiful place as a shithole. Despite all its issues going on it is still so beautiful
I cannot even explain my admiration for Syria and the Syrian people for showing such resistance against the terrorist attack. It's such a beautiful country rich with history and culture. Lots of greetings from Oman

I've never been to Syria, but ,deep in my heart, I really want to visit Syria, at least once. No one feel what Syrians feel right now; they are broken 💔. I wanna see the life inside those houses and be surrounded with such beautiful people ❤. God bless Syria
This is such a powerful, meaningful, touching vlog. I remember when I was a child my mum visited Syria and how fascinated she was by culture, by hospitality, historical places, food and so many other things. Most people associate Syria with war but as you can see there is a life there, kind and hospital people. That little shop with wooden boxes - OMG absolutely incredible!!! Thank for this incredible journey you took us with you xx

I have to say, Fatima, that what I have seen of so many people there, with their shops, businesses, Great food and aritisians ect in many recent travel videos on TH-cam there is a friendly and welcoming pressence there. I didn't know too much about Syria's culture before this conflict, but its been a joy to see more and more of your country since the conflict ended. I don't ever let the disagreements between foreign policy or our leaders, dictate meeting really great people in your country. I wish the best for you all.

That story teller cafe is absolutely incredible. I can envy something like that. Just having a chill place to go where everyone lounges and smokes a shisha into the night while be entertained by a wise old man telling epic stories. I'd love something like that.
I've been to Syria and the Syrian people are some of the friendliest and most generous people I have met on my travels. They would literally go out of their way to help a total stranger. I was so touched by their hospitality. Beautiful people.
Actually this war will never end until the end of many muslim states like syria and turned into greater Isreal. Arabs will turn on each other and that will be the death of them. There will be a mass murder of muslims. Peace will not come until Hazrat Esa comes and ends it for us.
Thank you for sharing this amazing video!!! I always struggled with explaining to my friends in Canada how life looks like in my city Damascus without showing them videos from inside, but now I have this video and your Instagram highlights stories to use it as a reference.

It is even more beautiful now compared to 2019. The people here I met in Damascus and Aleppo are so beautiful, amazing and hospitable. They really respect you. The food here is from heaven.
First, thank you so much for your interesting video! I enjoyed every minute getting to know my own country... I’m Syrian indeed, but I’ve never been to Syria, your video showed me truly how nice and generous the people are. Second, the moment where two old men who were discussing humanity and religion in a shop was my favorite! I respect my country for the fact that people from different religions lived together side by side in peace and harmony... And third, thank you for referring to what’s happening in Syria as a crisis, it is indeed, and it made me hopeful seeing how full of life this city was and still. You have my everlasting gratitude for showing me this side of the city! May God protect this beautiful country, and all the other wounded countries.
As a girl living in Damascus: 3:08 made me laugh because that's exactly how everyone reacts when someone has a camera and is talking. Especially if you're speaking english. Yes I've recorded before and people saw me speaking english in that exact area- I wanna know where that Karaoke place is in 3:36 so I can go with my friends. That ice cream shop Bakdash, that cafe Nofera (Where she heaed the storyteller), that main shop, etc are all areas I really enjoy visiting. If you would like to visit Syria visit Old Damascus. It shows all the culture and other things that everyone should view. I'd also like to say that I've lived in Damascus, Syria my entire life, and I've enjoyed every bit. Sure, it may seem sad and devoid of hope sometimes but in reality you make the hope. I've made my own happiness here, and I'll never not be proud of being Syrian.

They may ask you for your passport as proof of ID at check points...I was asked once for the entire two weeks I was there. Syrians are just normal people, like me and you! @@jordansaipaia7874 Yeah Fazil, FREEDOM and 100.000 tons of democracy. NATO, or just US has declared war on us without UN authorisation, that was the first time that happened. Russia, China and many other countries in UN voted against bombing of Yugoslavia but that didn't stop the US/NATO from doing so. They targeted infrastructure and destroyed most of our major factories, bridges, power plants etc. One of the first targets was Nis Tobacco industry that one major American tobacco brand tried to buy months prior to bombing, but we didn't want to sell. The real "reason" for bombing was that Serbian/Yugoslavian government was oppressing Albanian people in Kosovo, witch is 1 of 4 Serbia authonomy provinces, it was aways Serbian centuries ago. Separatism and extremism rose up in Kosovo, probably sponsored by west and Serbia had to try to stop it, but of course we were acused as bad guys and bombing started, its all orchestrated. Kosovo telecommunication company is owned by M. Albright, its all about business with the "Protecting civilian from their own leaders" excuse. One of major American base in Europe called bondstil is located in Kosovo - again, they wanted a base there prior to bombing, we refused. One of richest worlds coal, zinc and gold mine is Trepca and it is of course in Kosovo. Most of heroine going to Europe comes thru Kosovo. They declared independence from Serbia in 2008, without any referendum or anything, all sponsored by west. That's what they do, US, they just divide and later conquer. Everything that their army destroys in war, you can bet that American building company will rebuild.
@@nenad7653 Why I had the feeling that I will find some comments about Kosovo? But that's not true my dear, Kosovo has never been Serbian province, it has been occupied by Serbia. See for the history of Kosovo before Yugoslavia, in the Ottoman Empire time and even before of that, there were Great Albania, and Kosovo has been always part and land of Albania. Some of our lands rest in today's Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro. That is how Great Powers broke Albanian lands, and left Kosovo under Serbia.
@@kujtimhameli I didn't want to respond, but I have to. Serbia or Raska (middle age name), won the war with Byzantium empire over Kosovo in 11th century. Many of Serbian orthodox monastery there have been built in 11th, 12th century. From 11th until 15th century it has been under Serbian control, then Ottomans came in 15th century and stayed there till 19th century, to be more specific until 1912. That year, 1912 Serbia and Montenegro declared war on ottomans and pushed them out of Kosovo, and since then until 2008 it has been in the "hands" of Serbia. So, Serbian from 11th - 15th century Ottomans from 15th - 19th century Serbian from 19th -21st century. Those information are really not hard to find, maybe your education system is not good enough if its learning you something opposite to this. And you mentioned that SOME of your land is in Greece, Macedonia etc, that's funny. That means that I as a Serbian can say that half of balcan belongs to Serbia? Because our Emperor Dusan Silni conquered half of balcan in 1300-1350? I don't think so.

Ya, you're right
True
These ppl are paid to show this
You may think that because it's the capital there was no fighting here, yet Damascus suffered a lot and those suburbs are very close to the city, so the fighting there affected the city very badly. I mean you could also find pour people living in very hard conditions in the capital. I'm not saying all thing are perfect here but it's much better than what would anyone expect from the situation the capital was in last year.

So,
Serbian from 11th - 15th century
Ottomans from 15th - 19th century
Serbian from 19th -21st century.

Syria...touched my heart. The images the news showed made me depressed. Hospitals being attacked, innocent lives in the hands of pure evil. I tried help sponsoring a child there but international organizations that helps children around the world did no reached Syria. Adoption was not an option either as the religion does not allow that. My prayers are ALWAYS with 🇸🇾. I don't think I'll ever be able to travel there for personal reasons although I wish. Damascus the oldest city , so much history. Thanks for this video
I visited Syria in 2017 for pilgrimage purpose and fell in love with it💖💕 you didn't mention the shrines of prophet Mohammad's Grand daughters in Damascus.
