- Supergiant Games' Hades 2 technical test offers a fascinating glimpse at how the sequel is building on the success of the first game.
Supergiant Games has never made a sequel. Instead, it's a studio that has consistently iterated and innovated with each subsequent game, arguably culminating in the team's greatest work to date: Hades. The engrossing roguelite dazzled with tight and engaging combat, an iconic visual presentation, and novel take on a persistent narrative that interweaves the progression of its story with its repeating gameplay loop. If Supergiant Games were ever going to commit to a sequel, Hades definitely provided the most fertile ground for further development, ensuring that its follow-up has a strong foundation established in a proven hit. Hades II's technical test is a small slice of the game and a very quick look at how Supergiant plans to build on the success of the first game, but it's already clear that it is anything but a safe improvement on what has come before.
There are lots of questions as to how the established base of Hades will enrich the new areas that Supergiant Games plans to add in the near future, and how well the freshly introduced mechanics hold up over much longer, and hopefully complex, runs. But if this is the foundation that Hades II is to build off over, it's exciting to think where it's eventually going to end up.

can't believe it's finally so close to release. after 200 hours in the first game, I'm sooooo ready for new locations, characters and weapons. can't wait!

Hades one was so fun, very excited for this sequel! I mean if it would be the exact same thing as the first only in a different setting it would be great, but all the new stuff sounds awesome

This looks almost, too complex...
I hope they add world building survival aspects.. they already added things like a pickaxe.. so it would be nice to see The Crossroads expand and be more decorated the further you get, allowing you to make some aesthetic cozy changes of your own.

I really doubt they wouldn't include this. This is their first sequel and they want to do it right, no way they'd leave out a big feature they previously had.

You’re right, though, that when it comes to criticism of “oversexualized” characters/depictions, both Hades games get a pass from the same “journalists” that otherwise take umbrage with things like Stellar Blade and try to ban things like whatever those beach volleyball games are from getting Western releases. @@nintendude794I think Hades is given a pass because the character design is far more diverse. Not every character is hypersexualized. Granted I can't confirm this for Stellar Blade because I haven't played it but I imagine that every female character in that game is hypersexualized. Haphestus is described is being disfigured in some way and hes a smith and a mechanist. It makes perfect sense that because of his injuries or disfigurement that he would choose to craft a wheelchair for himself.

As much as I enjoyed Hades. The fact these "journalists" all come out to support this game, I won't be buying Hades 2 day one. Probably when it's at least 50% off. You can thank wokeness to decrease your profit by 50%.
