This hymn is the exit hymn that we sing at funerals in our family. Because, no matter what, we go forth rejoicing and live in the hope of the Resurrection, and the knowledge of the love of God. Thanks for the post! Hallelujah, the Lord is Risen!
truly a really beautiful video. Words cannot describe how pretty this church is!...The singers, the music, EVERYTHING!...Makes me proud to be Catholic!
I'm very glad that you enjoyed this video! Easter Day affords us-and so many other churches as well-the opportunity to offer some of the most beautiful and moving services. Just a kind reminder that St. Bartholomew's is an Episcopal church, of the Anglican tradition. However, we consider ourselves part of "the one holy, catholic (i.e., universal) and apostolic church." :)
Joseph, keep in mind that King Henry VIII broke off from the Catholic Church and started the separate Anglican Church (from which the Episcopal Church came), which consequentially makes you separate from the one holy catholic and apostolic church.
@JoeNYCBoi The fact that this is what normally happens at St. Bartholomew's is what makes it that much more incredible, and really special! Then again, I guess nothing less than the finest should be expected! That Cor De Gabriel at 3:00 even is really something to talk about, too!
@Organsk8er Glad you liked/loved it. What I love about it is that it's *not* extravagant; it's quite simple. The only addition to the Procession itself is the banners; everything else, crosses, candles, choir, clergy, we do every week. It's the music, accentuated by the Easter brass, that gives the day its spirit and joy.
@karpov89 Thanks! Yeah, it is a beautiful church. I like the blending of different designs. The exterior is Romanesque, the ceilings are decorated with Byzantine-style mosaics, and the windows have medieval/Reformation stained glass. We're not affiliated with the Charismatic tradition, but many Episcopal churches use banners during high celebrations like Easter. I think the Cathedral of St. John the Divine used them during the re-dedication of the organ.
@JHaupt6314 Thank you so much for your comment. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! The Easter service at St. Bart's (as I'm sure is true of many other churches worldwide) is filled with a kind of humble happiness that is full of thanksgiving and really stirs the spirit. Hopefully when I get a new digital camera, I can begin recording the services. Thanks again!
Episcopal processions start out with Vwrger Thurifer Crucifer Acolyte Torch bearer Choir Bible Carrier Cantor Communion assistants Rector Presiding Minister (Some of the bigger processions have two Crucifers, one at the beginning, one toward the middle).
I'd like to, but I don't want to obstruct or distract anyone's worship. That's the reason I've moved up to the balcony when I record the hymns. But perhaps I can try to record more of the service. Glad you liked the video!
@frater09 It's called a liturgical banner. I believe it's used more for decoration, but sometimes it does have more symbolism. If they are used on Pentecost, for example, they may be colored red to visually symbolize the fire of the Holy Spirit.
To the person who calls It flowing TP on a Stick. It is Not TP, you were seeing a Thuriibel (correct me if I've spelled the name of the device wrong) and the white stuff is called "Holy Smoke" . The person carrying the Thuriibel is called a Thurrifer (again, feel free to correct the spellings of device and title names).
The title of this famous hymn is, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. It was written by the founder of the United Methodist Church, Charles Wesley. Jesus Christ is Risen Today is A different hymn to a different tune.
Really nice...seems to be a beautiful church! And interesting to see that worship/liturgical banners are use also in the Episcopal church...is this a charismatic parish?!
The High Episcopal (Anglican) Church is remarkably similar to the Roman Catholic Church. The Novo Ordo Mass is nearly identical to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
St. Bart's is not low church. It's "Broad" church right in middle between low and high. The so-called low churches in NYC are St. George/Calvary and Grace Church (which still has Morning Prayer and Sermon as the principal service on Sundays. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month). There may be others.
Always loved this hymn. It brings back a lot of memories from the long past. Jesus is Lord.

What a wonderful thought may our Lord`s glorious resurrection always rejoice in our hearts. David Williams.
Those mighty trumpets on that beautiful pipe cathedral organ ❤❤❤❤
Happy Easter Sunday Jesus christ is rise again Aleuluia Aleuluia Aleuluia amen
Praise my lord and savior Jesus Christ forever! Amen! What a glorious hymn
Love this hymn...I look forward to it every Easter. Even though my little Episcopal church is very small we sing it loud and joyously!

At an Episcopal Church....makes you proud to be Catholic! ROTFL, how much we Catholics have to aspire to compared to music of our Episcopal brethren.

Correct , they're a splinter group but Christian non the less !
small "c" means universal
HAPPY BLESSED EASTER TO ALL!!!💒♥️🌹
I enjoy these Easter hymns so much, I've committed the lyrics to memory
Awesome organ and hymn. One of my favourites
Wonderful and moving. I just listened to 6 versions of the hymn on TH-cam and this is the best. Thank you.

I love the sound of congregational singing! People love to sing.
In addition to the organ, I think that I heard an orchestra, with kettledrums.

Very pretty service..
Really fantastic, I hope you can record a service. I watch Trinity Wall St every Sunday.
THAT is what I call an Easter Procession! Wow...just wow!

Richly, a celebrated Eucharist.
Verse 4 is a "Trinidadian" or "Doxologic" stanza and can be used as a table grace or Offertory Response (with Amen after the final Alleluei).

...very emotional...
are there really any Christians left in NYC any more? Happy Easter 2021 anyway

St. Bart's is Episcopal
No. Very mainline.
@JoeNYCBoi beautiful rendition! Do you know if this is a particular arrangement?
🙏 amen
I have no sound.
Wondering whose brass/organ arrangement was used?
They NAILED that descant.
The High Episcopal (Anglican) Church is remarkably similar to the Roman Catholic Church. The Novo Ordo Mass is nearly identical to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
I have tried to find the banners but have not had any success and was wondering if you would know where I could find them. Thank you
There aren't any young people in church anymore. Sad
What is the flippy thing that looks like toilet paper that somebody is flipping around? What's it called? What is its purpose?
Behold the Toilet Paper of God
i love jerusalem the golden
It should be noted, just to level-set, that this is a professional, paid choir.
This video has great sound.
where is this church located
Park Avenue, north of Grand Central Station.
The Episcopal Church has the most beautiful music.
Catherine Cheek yeah we do. Ugliest woman tho lmao
*no offense. Some episcopal churches in Tenn. are full of attractives. Most of them at my church seem interested in other women lol.
Women**

Naaa nahhh n

@Organsk8er Too bad there's no "LOVE" button to click...lol
WHAT is with the toilet paper on a stick??? Is that a thing???
What's with the flying toilet paper?
Some liberal had to destroy the high altar in that church.
@Richard 123 What ever do you mean?
@@anthonyjyearwood816 my comment is self explanitory. For anyone who does not understand, there is nothing further i can explain.
@@Richard-vq7ud Your comment is not self explanatory. I don't comprehend your convoluted statement because it makes no sense (at least to me).
@@anthonyjyearwood816 i wish there was something i could do to help you.
@@Richard-vq7ud I don't need your help. And I'm done with you and your high altar. Bye.
St. Bart's is low church. This and Trinity Church Boston. None better.
