And that's how it should be done. Rousing, glorious, thundering and hearty. This took my breath away. I sang at the top of my voice on Easter Sunday morning when we had this for the opening hymn. I LOVED it. We have gone from the darkness and misery to the wonderful light of Christ's resurrection...a happy, joyous and heart bursting celebration. Sing your hearts out and rejoice.
Earth indeed has many noble cities, yet with a rainy reputation, I hesitated to visit but with a Liturgy such as this to usher in the Paschal Preconium, even the water shines. Happy Easter, Saint Mark's, Seattle, WA.
This is the best introduction and fanfare to the 'Easter Hymn' ever. Thanks Mel Butler for composing this; and thanks Alan Depuy for uploading it. Now after many years of this amazing tradition at St. Mark's, the rest of the world can share in the gift of our Canon Organist and Choirmaster.
What a wonderful procession. Some modern taste to the oldest traditions of the church. Anglican/Episcopal Church are good for lots of symbolism. This Cathedral needs to be complimented on such hard work. The success is visible with the full congregation. The holy spirit present.

Kudos for know that the acolyte carrying a censer is called a "thurifer." This 78 year old former Episcopal altar server had forgotten that word. This was a beautiful procession. For me, it replaces the Christmas night reading of Luke's Gospel from the nave of a darkened church.

Unfortunately the Roman Catholic church is still a mess - just look at Vatican II. This is about the same. Thank God the Anglo-Catholic movement of the Episcopal Church is growing stronger than ever.
Since the Eucharist is at the center of our Faith, there's something wrong with that. It could be somewhere off in a Eucharistic Reservation Chapel or something like that where you can't easily see it, which is also improper, at least in my eyes. :)

True, the butterfly is not a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The butterfly has long been a Christian symbol of Christ's death and resurrection, The cocoon represents the tomb into which he was laid. The emergence from the cocoon represents the Christ coming forth out of the tomb in his glorified body.

A decent effort with the music, but it's all too bitty, disjointed. For this hymn on Easter Sunday you need an assertive LOUD entrance, not musicicians being clever with twiddly bits and harmonies all over the shop. Also the wavy stuff. Why?

St. Mark's, Seattle is Episcopalian. The Thurifer is doing Figure 8's and quite well I might add. This festive processional was extremely well-done.
