I used to drive OL' 66 starting back in the '50's ! It was/still is a fantastic scenic road. Even stopped somewhere along the way todo some horseback riding in the mountains.
I rode old hwy 66 June 1955 on my motorcycle, with it's Whiting Bros gas stations, Indian Trading post, enjoyed the trip and still like reading my trip log/diary.
You don’t know how much I enjoy your videos I was raised in Arizona I live in Oregon now after watching your videos I want to move back but I’m too old thanks so much for the videos
Hello My Friend, I'm at home in South Carolina to help my parents with the Hurricane. Praise the Lord, all was good. My Fathers one of your biggest fans. I Gave him TH-cam premium couple years ago, and he hasnt watched anything since. You're one of the favorites. Were having dinner chatting about you now. Drone and Camera are excellent. Be safe, take care friend!!
I’m afraid of heights, and I drove that road from Kingman to Oatman a few years back and it was so scary I swore I’d never drive it again! Thanks for filming it so that I could see it again without being terrified! LOL! It’s a beautiful drive for sure! And Oatman is a really fun place too!
Nice video Russ. I have a picture of me standing in the middle of route 66 at Cool Springs enjoying the 120 degree August 2009 heat. me, my wife, daughter and son in law were on a Harley vacation. There was no one else there and they had a barking guard dog recording in the gas station, haha.
I made this exact drive in August of 2019. It was a great experience finally driving a section of route 66, but it was scary as hell once we got up to Sitgreaves pass. One thing I’ll remember as long as I live is that I passed a corvette coming back down the pass, in my VW Jetta. As scared as I was and slow as I drove, this lady driving a vette was practically crawling back down the pass and I passed her in maybe 3rd gear.
Planning a Route 66 journey once I have free time ie. retire. Your videos are exciting and awesome. Can’t wait to do this trip from Chicago to Santa Monica in a convertible. 🚙
I started to watch some of your older videos that I missed. When I watch this I think of that movie Grapes of Wrath. Could you imagine riding this road in an old rickety truck with your entire family and all of your possessions. Yeah, it’s only a movie but people had to actually do that!
An older friend I had years ago (died 1992) started driving for Greyhound in 1951 (the year before Sitgreaves Pass was bypassed) & he said it was tricky for large trucks and buses to slowly go downhill without smoking their brakes and a number of large trucks were lost due to brake failure.
Howdy. Drones are so kool. You can see so much. Lot better than Google Earth. Such interesting country. Just think of the western history. I can hear the bugles of the soldiers and yells of the Indians, smoke signals, wagon trains, etc.
My son and I have watched your videos for weeks. We love them. On Rt. 66 I went to California and saw the BermaShave signs. They were blue and white then, (58 years ago) Also I saw black rabbits positioned on the distant mountains for miles. I must have seen 20 or more over a few hundred mile stretch. Finally we saw a restaurant called the Black Rabbit. I never forgot. Did you happened to see any or maybe they've fallen by now. Just thought I'd share that with you, plus a baby rattler in a caged box somewhere along the way. A neat joke. Will be watching.
@@msr1116 You have to click on "show more" at the end. It's all on there but you have to click to see the rest of it. I'm surprised I even got an answer. We just love your videos.
@@susanMarkle .....Thanks for letting me know. I was watching on my Kindle Fire tablet but there was no "show more" to see. On my laptop now and I see the words, so I'm glad I got the rest of the story as Paul Harvey used to say. Nothing like being left hanging. :-D P.S. I haven't got any videos.
Hi Russ! We REALLY love your videos. We are going to travel along Route 66. You are using a drone and we're wondering if we (Dutch people) can fly a drone in the US. Of course, not in a city, probably a Nation Park, near military terrains etc. We have a drone with a weight les dan 250 grams (about 0.55 pounds). THANKS for being our tour guide. John & Lizette from The Netherlands
@@rvertv We will probably ask more questions in the upcoming months. We consider you as our tour guide. Enjoy your endless roadtrip. Orrrr.. ship your RV to Europe and explore this side of the pond.
The road at the 1:30 mark is in better shape than most residential streets of the city of Montebello, CA which by the way has one of the highest property taxes in that area. Gee, I wonder where all that tax money is going? Some of the city council members were recalled in previous years. Hint, hint.
@40belowful. If you're referencing the movie filmed at Cool Springs, it was "Universal Soldier" starring Jean Claude van Damme (sp? Information courtesy of "EZ66 Guide for Travelers" by Jerry McClanahan, 3d Edition.)
I wish that Route 66 had not been Decommissioned, it was such a scenic., relaxed highway to travel on.

Hi Russ! Those views are just stunning! Thank you for taking us on route 66!
I always past thru with the sportsbike when I'm east of Arizona,, definitely a unique place
Russ....It's adorable how you say Yay in every video, like a little boy would, setting off on an adventure.
Thanks for taking us along. Hopefully you'll be able to take your trip this summer. Looking forward to it. 👍🙏
66 is on the top of my bucket list ...thanks for taking us a long
When I'm doing house work I play your videos in the Background.

Thank you for your videos. I hope someday I can visit the places you have been to. Till then I'll travel via your videos.

“ The Old Trails Highway “ later named Route 66 ..... Cool 😎 thanks Russ
🙋Hello Russ! There were quite a few picture postcard places in this video. That sure was a narrow road, didn't allow for any mistakes.
Awesome drone footage and sure must have been something for that road to have been paved. Loved the greenery. Thanks!

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 1992 location ;) beauty place
Love how you wave to the camera! Ha Love Oatman!

I like how quiet it is out there. You can hear the smallest sounds.
Great video Russ love the drone shots and yes the desert is a beautiful place.gary From Australia 🇦🇺
Wetted my appetite pulling into Cool Springs but very disappointed we did not get to see more of it, like inside and the rock shop goods.
Did that exact drive last year.. Took some drone video at Sitgreaves Pass.
Happy trails to you and may the good LORD take a likein'to ya'.🗽🗽🗽🔧🔧🔧

Correct me if I’m wrong. Ed’s camp was used to rest up and make repairs before starting the arduous climb to Oatman. Was still in use 1956.
Bought an infrared thermometer and case on your Rver Amazon channel...... Hope it helps any ..... Thanks for your videos...... Manny
I got my kicks on route 66!
I love all your videos....... Do one on Stagecoach Trails in Yucca AZ please...Off on Alamo Road on highway 40.....

It's all downhill from here, haha!!! (at the end)
keep up the good work and tx for the sticker
I watched from the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Phangan. I really like this video.
I live in Kingman and ride this road on my Kymco like 200 I, not much traffic most of the time.
Great vid Russ.
im still watching

Most of 66 is still intact in Oklahoma.
From Japan
I also drove to Oatman on August 10th.

Like the drone shots, good tempo editing and pace. Where is your base camp ( if I may ask).

ED,
YOU DO AN EXCELLENT VIDEO AND NARRATION. GOOD VIDEOS.
WHAT MODEL DRONE DO YOU USE ?
THANKS
Awesome video! I'm curious what drone you are using?
Hey Russ I love your vids., How many Watts is you Solar Panel and do you feel it's enough?
No guard rails on that old winding Rt 66. On a sunny day it is ok but wouldn't try it at night.
I stayed at the El Rancho motel there a long time ago! How much snow does Williams get? Do they have mobile home parks?
It was in universal soldier with van Damme
👋😊
Here’s an addendum to my last comment: Cool Springs and Oatman provided wrecker service to those who could afford it. It was a nasty piece of road.
The road at the 1:30 mark is in better shape than most residential streets of the city of Montebello, CA which by the way has one of the highest property taxes in that area. Gee, I wonder where all that tax money is going? Some of the city council members were recalled in previous years. Hint, hint.
Cool Springs has been around since the 1920s. Its obvious that no research was done on this trip.
Where are the roadrunners? Where are the coyotes? Where are the rattlesnakes?
Taking a truck and slide camper doesn't look to bad what'ca think...
rode that on my Harley a few times. lots better in Sept. lot less peoples
wonder what movie it was?

is this drivable at night ? lol
